- Hey, everyone.
Let's bring some new life into this older laptop, at least when it comes to gaming. We were able to see how this Dell Latitude E6230 is able to game with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 at a resolution of 1366 x 768.
We're going to see if an external GPU adapter kit will help our performance and gaming experience by allowing a desktop GPU to work with this laptop.
In this first video, we're setting everything up. Please keep in mind this isn't an in-depth tutorial, but just a quick walk-through of me setting mine up. We'll take a look at gaming performance in a later video so stay tuned.

I've been wondering if an eGPU would work well with an expresscard adapter, I'm glad to find this video!
interesting. If I'm gaming I'm at home so I can just use my desktop computer for that.
For my e6230. I upgraded the screen from the crappy LED one to the IPS screen. Specifically LP125WH2(SL)(B3) the SLB3 bit determines the features of the display, the other part is the same for all the 12.5" screens.
It did need a bit of dremeling to expand the area as the IPS is probably 0.5mm taller than the low spec screen it comes with. So you'll need a dremel - lots of care and patience to get the IPS in.
But it's well worth it, the colours, viewing angles and brightness are a HUGE improvement.
I've been wanting one of these ever since I saw them, and I just got one for my Latitude E6540 with an upgraded i7 4810MQ and Radeon 8790M. It can run Cyberpunk, but very low res low settings. The CPU has plenty of head room, but the GPU is absolutely pegged and struggling😂 I'll first try it out with my old Titan Black. My only best available card. I might dig out my 1070 and 1060 out of my current pc's and see how they handle on the laptop too.
I have some game captured and uploaded of the Latitude trying it's best to run Cyberpunk😂😂
i have exactly same laptop and i use it daily and i am planing to buy external graphic card
Good luck with that!
Sounds awesome 😎
does the monitor connect to laptop if not how it is possible to make laptop cpu process the monitor? please answer thanks you
For Dell latitude E6530, this is same process?
Will Dell Lattitude e6410 will work same to this process? I have the i7 640qm and nvs3100 inside
I wonder you can do the same with 3DFX Voodoo because I want to play Extreme Assault with it.
I have tried it and show the same error message what you said. Can you upload a new video how to overcome with that problem. Thanks
I'll try to keep working on it to see if this issue can be resolved. At least it works with an external display and the performance is decent.
excellent, video. I've e6530, little better than e6230. fingers crossed hope this works.
Did it work
@@ZH_Vlogs well I had lots of Money lately. I bought a new laptop.
My dell latitude e6430 uses always the Intel even with charging but without it uses the Nvidia graphics card and i set everything to Nvidia in the Control panel switched the Battery settings but nothing works. What is that thing that you show us at first?
Any luck?
Mine has a Nvidia nvs 5200 and It woks as a silent gpu not supported on win 10 versions
wait i thought these had amd radeon graphics? im confucioused
??? what are you talking about bro most laptops use intel
the e6540 has it.
i have dell latitude e6520 i7 2nd gen 16gb ram 520ssd can i do that for my laptop?
mine work well without any external when playing tomb raider
Hi! I've a Dell latitud E64340 what I have to do, to conect the Egpu to the Laptop
Hi! i got problems with my dell precision m4500. I can't stop the auto reinstall and auto able of the integrated Gcard (Quadro FX 1800m). I using an exp gdc but is not the primary card. Any tip to disable the quadro gcard or the only way is connecting a monitor?
Hi, just want to know if you disabled your integrated NIC and lose your ethernet access for the internet
Does this work for Latitude E7440 I was looking for an option to play Yakuza Kiwami 2 on my Dell laptop?
Dear watch your valuable record, love it, thx for your share then I have a question that Could I upgrade/add external graphic card for Dell Latitude E5470 i7-6600U 8GB 256GB SSD ? (originally inside there are two graphic cards; these are AMD Radeon R7 M360 2GB and Intel HD Graphics 520 300 MHz/1.05 GHz )
The Express Card method that I used wouldn't work on your laptop. It seems your laptop doesn't have an express card slot, and the smart card slot is not compatible. The external GPU adapter does have other interface options like M.2 and mini PCI-E. You can check to see if your laptop has one of these available, but it would require to open the laptop to connect the adapter.
I have the same laptop and my problem is as follows - code (error) 12. I think its some kind of windows problem. GPU is GTX 1050ti without 6 pin power connector. I have made this egpu setup in the past with a GTX 960. Is it possible that the 6 pin power connector has something to do with code 12?
If some one has any info on the subject i would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
I think I was getting the error 12 when I tried to use it with the laptop's display and it's the reason I opted for using the external monitor where no errors were reported.
@@YakovGYP i have never tryed in with the build in display. always with an external monitor, but still got the code 12...
is it possible to display in the laptop screen without external monitor
Per the instructions and from what I've seen others do online you should be able to with NVIDIA cards but not AMD. But those who were able to get it to work were using a different model laptop. I couldn't get it to work with this Dell E6230, at least not for right now.
@@YakovGYP i got the same laptop as you , and im planning to added amd graphic card , it would be good if its gonna run on laptop display , im not plannig to buy another monitor
This could be useful to you www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7574-14-dell-latitude-e6430-performance-upgrades-and-system-mods/
i want to use the laptop display too. Tell me if you can
Is this really faster than Thunderbolt 3 4?
this will work with latitude E6430?
I have a dell latitude e5470 without an express card connector. Can I connect an external video card without it? Maybe using a docking station?
I'm not sure if a docking stating will work with it since I wouldn't know how the GPU would communicate with the laptop. Aside from the ExpressCard version, there two other types which are Mini PCI-E/NGFF M.2 and Mini PCI-E.
Hi, did you connect eGPU to your latitude e5470? I have the same one and I am wondering if I can connect eGPU.
Hi, will that works on Dell Latitude E6440?
i7-3630QM is like $70 from Ali.
4c/8t @ 2.4 GHz/3.4 GHz
I have my EliteBook 8440p + i7-820QM + 8GB connected to external GTX 680 (since I had that already) @ 1600x900 monitor.
Going to have to check mine and see if I can upgrade the CPU in this Dell laptop. Thanks!
There are 35W TDP versions if your cooling/motherboard does not support 45W ones (those cost $90, tho).
@@YakovGYP I just gave it a look, and unfortunately E6230 has CPU soldered, so no upgrades (at least not easy ones) for you. Shame.
When I play Games It Randomnly Drops except League of legends . Like Minecraft Dungeons, Dota 2, Heroes of the Storm. I think its because of Overheating. What do i need to do? do i need to replace the Fan or Clean and Paste. I experienced FPS drops in League when teamfighting/ARAM/NEXUS BLITZ/TFT. Do Laptops meant to be like that or it needs some Cooling/Cleaning . i didnt experience FPS DROPS when playing PC. Can it stop FPS DROPS when Using an EGPU or UPGRADE?
I have I7 3520m 2.90ghz 8gb Ram intel hd 4000 (im really planning to Upgrade my CPU and GPU > EGPU.
Edit:I think i dont need to upgrade my CPU. I just need my Laptop to be fixed cuz of FPS drops (overheating) and Upgrade to EGPU
When I googled the GTX 970 whatev thingy....... there is no available in my country so i searched GTX 1051 ti 4gb, is it compatible or not? (im not an expert)
Please answer my Question, Thank You Sir :>
The CPU seems fine, like you've confirmed. Cleaning the laptop and re-applying the thermal paste is always a good idea. I'll have to test the GTX 1050 Ti to see if it works with this adapter.
will it work on gtx 10 series?
Can you tell me maximum graphic card for that cpu without bottlenecks
Probably the GTX 970 or an RX 570 since the CPU is fairly old with only two cores and four threads. I may pop in a GTX 1070 Ti on it to see if there's a drastic difference.
@@YakovGYP do make a video of 1070
@@YakovGYP Does Gtx 1050 ti compatible or i should buy gtx 970?
