Love this music. My parents did their courtship with Glen Miller. The musicians are excellent. The singers are pretty good too. Thank you for sharing this music. It means a lot to me.
Good Music is timeless - not just nostalgic. The skill in putting together a Big Band, keeping it on the road - AND being a crowd pleasing success was (and is) such an accomplishment. And to the older among us - who grew up listening to this as our parents music - it recalls a much simpler (and more fun!) time. Thanks for sharing!
WW2 big band express love this my parents jitter bug music and boy good they dance, the greatest generation!!! Came out of the depression and fought WW2 and won bravo!!!
Just saw the band in person recently. They were very entertaining, and fortunately Natalie Angst was back . She was terrific ! Those with the snide comments, I don’t know what planet they are from. I’m aware of the original arrangements and they didn’t miss a beat. I have watched videos of other female singers with the band, and Natalie Angst is the best. As young as she is, she has great stage presence and chemistry with the band.
Larry O'Brien fronted the GM Orch for many years and really stuck to the original scores. When Larry played the trombone he sounded as good, if not better, than Tommy Dorsey. He was a perfectionist, retired and moved to Hawaii. The last time I saw the band they were in Sebastian FL. and Julia Rich did the vocals. Wouldn't it be great if a guy would appear who sounded exactly like Tex Beneke?
Natalie doesn't look the same at all. I saw them last Sunday, 10/13 at the Levoy theater in Millville NJ. My first show. I had a blast. Nick Hilscher is really good.
@@m.j.mcilroy5470 Yes, also a down to earth gentleman. His father told me that even when he was Road Manager for the Frank Sinatra Jr. Show, Larry used to practice the scales for 2 hours a day. Tommy Dorsey was his idol and you can see it in his playing. He later led the TD Orch. before the GM Orch.. That reminds me of my Uncle who, as a youngster who just learned to play the guitar, said someday he hoped to play for Louie Armstrong. Indeed his did join Satchmo later on.
Great Railroad Tune, and performance by Natalie Angst. A long with the Big Band from St. Thomas Aquinas Center in Florida. • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway
The shows are being recorded, so they want you to sit, but you can clap along. And I'm 6'7." Way too tall to be dancing in front of people, lol. I got front row seats once and I was as tall as the people on stage when I stood up. 😂
I've seen this orchestra live twice. The second time was with Nick Hilscher and Natalie Angst (in another venue). When the curtain opened Nick's back is to the audience and then he turns around with that slick look and Cheshire cat grin. My lady friend whispered into my ear "He looks like the perfect game show host". But you quickly learn he is the real deal as an expert with this music and has plenty of his own singing chops. Natalie Angst simply fired on all cylinders. Sadly, she is no longer with the orchestra now. If you get a chance, it's fun to see these people and experience this great music in an audience.
+@@schnitzel9575 Natalie stepped back in after Maria Schaeffer left. About a year ago Nick hired Hannah Truckenbrode, a winner of several jazz-vocal competitions. I've heard her with the band 3 times and she's got a great sense of how to handle the stylings of both modern and "classical" big-band swing tunes.
Glenn Miller Orchestra Europe under Wil Salden, an excellent version. Come on GM Orchestra USA, you can put out a much better product musically. Former leaders Ray McKinley and Larry O'Brien, always fronted excellent bands.
Very well done! I remember Carmen Miranda also recorded this song. When I sang for seniors for 11 years here in Utah, this was one of my favorite numbers. I even made Chattanooga Choo Choo train tickets for them, super retro, and took them down Memory Lane very fast and they loved it! This was awesome! Check this out... but I sang the version in this video, not Carmen Miranda's... the turban always fell from my head LOL.... ua-cam.com/video/R7Vwbes0nXg/v-deo.html
+Jason Railson , I am afraid that if they were dead, although they could still be zombies, they could not have Alzheimer. So, answer "D" would be not right...
i've never seen a conductor have that little use to the orchestra. he's not even facing them, it's very awkward. and the glenn miller orchestra didn't have a conductor either, didn't Glenn Miller just queue them to start?
Yeah, conductors are utterly useless in jazz bands. My high school band teacher just joined in and played trumpet. The most conducting he did was count off the tempo for us right before starting.
I totally disagree. Nick Hilscher has been with the GMO for over 20yrs, first as a male vocalist, and for the current group, the long-time conductor/leader. He's one of the best, a great guy in person, and doesn't need this type of infantile criticism. He's doing a great job of keeping the greatest dance band ever on top, and all over most of the world each year. I for one hope he stays w/the group for a good while yet.
Not very long ago Larry O'Brien led the GM Band but retired after many years. He is a gentleman and connected with the audience. This guy, Nick, jumps around like a clown and I won't attend if they come to my area with him.
Derek Detjen just saw this live last night. Terrible band leader. Call it infantile all you want but he detracts from the talent the players behind him actually have. He's fake, over-the-top, and it a sad caricature of what a real band leader could/should be.
I think that Igor needs to hike up his mic a few inches plus they need to stop behaving like a bunch of calvanists and loosen up. It is weird to have swing music performed by a bunch of statues. I think the audience is dead because the singers are just singing and not performing.
What a horrible display for the Miller Band.....the leader, Nick, is typical singer, not having any concept of the band. sings well, but looks like a used car salesman or casino dealer...............band is nothing like it was when Larry ? the trombone player lead................
We grow up dancing to the Glenn Miller Band at Elitches Gardens in Denver. Love them and good memories !

GM musics are still best since WW2😊
They are extraordinary. The bandleader sounds exactly like Tex Bernerke. What a thrill.
I enjoy listening to Glenn Miller music everyday!
Saw them live in Newton NJ a few months ago with my daughter. Loved every minute of it.

Я счастлив слушать эту замечательную музыку! Огромное,преогромное спасибо!RESPECT !
this was impressive. Love this version, great singing.

Reminiscent of the Modernaires! Enjoyed hearing a modern performance which is inspired by that from 78 years ago.
Wo derfull, sweet music. More of it is needed
Awesome Natalie.
That was so great!! How do the people in the audience look dead? I would be dancing like crazy!!!
@bad dog My girl and I took ballroom lesson since we love to dance together.

Great vocals, I always love to hear the GM orchestra and its variations of the tunes over the years.
Love this Glenn Miller Orchestra!!!! When are you coming back to Grand Rapids,Minnesota?????
Sensacional! Eles seguem os arranjos originais de Glenn Miller!
Wonderful music😍😎👌 i love it!
Absolutely beautiful!

I love Hilscher's style. Definitely looks like a 1950's used car salesman, lol, but can sing really well.
@@schnitzel9575 She had left, returned, and then left again.
Good enough for me ❤️
Not a bad rendition of the Tex Beneke whistle and singing. He sounds like him.. Natalie is oo-la la. Great song.
Love this ❤
Great job last night in Fort Lauderdale
Taka muzyka nigdy nie umiera, super piekne brzmienie ,,,,,

Way back in it's big band days there were two Caseres brothers playing in big bands. Wouldthis singer be brother to Ernie Caseres?
Beautifull noel ireland
I like the leader and Natalie Angst and the Moonlight Serenaders
BIS! BRAWO!
Fantastico
Used to see them play at Disneyland led by Peanuts Hucko.
"Sings and whistles like Tex." Never in a million years.
Tex had that coolness that this cat just doesn't possess
Nice

The audience didn't cheer up and barely clapped because:
a- They were dead.
b- They were zombies.
c- They had Alzheimer.
d- All the previous.

I was pretty disappointed myself I mean really 'Glenn help me now'
Their hand clapping has spoiled the whole presentation!

Reminds me a bit of that motivational guy with the big noggin Tony Robbins.
Not only is this horrible but it doesn’t help that the leader unnecessarily broke in to announce the singers completely disrupting the flow.
Totally inaccurate arrangement_terribly played.
