    I ended up sending in the Inferno to Atomos for repair. They got the job done quickly (Back to me in about a week), but it cost $250. While they had it they said one of my Battery Slots was dead as well (it worked fine before) and refused to cover it under warranty. Now that I've been using it for another year, the AC power port is starting to act up for no apparent reason. The long term reliability of this unit is really a concern to me now.

    Man I am super interested what processor they are using, what kind of embedded system platform they have for this device. Fascinating stuff.

    AlanMandic this video was perfect! you couldn't fix yours but you helped me fix mine. I damaged the HDMI in port and no longer could get a signal. That required a motherboard swap out. As luck would have it I found atomos ninja with a cracked screen online that only cost me $200.(I could return it if I couldn't get it to work) I swapped the motherboard myself and everything worked perfectly. Thanks for the post. You saved me some cash and I am up and running again.

      Excellent I’m glad you were able to get yours fixed and I was able to help. Happen to have the battery mount parts left from that parts Inferno? When Atomos fixed my screen they broke my Battery plate so now only one of the Batteries works. Doh

    Good afternoon, would you know how and where to get the spare part of the cooler for ATOMOS SHOGUN INFERNO? I would really appreciate if you had any information.

    Looks like its sharing the same PCB with the shogun, i can see those unused SDI connector mounting points... also that is totally a tablet screen including the front glass bezel, you can also see the webcam/sensor hole at 5:07 i thnk they just added their own logo

    Hi, Alan. I hope you're well. Suddenly my shogun's screen stopped working, the last thing that happened was the screen turned pink and green and went off but... The device works, it turns on when I put a battery or power cable. Only the screen is completely off. I send email to atomos but they told me that the shogun was already discontinued and I should buy a new one but I feel it can be repaired, if I could know which piece might be broken. I hope you can give me some advice . I´m from México. :)

    We have a K4 screen and it has a malfunction, and we connected the electricity by mistake, and there was a malfunction in the sub-board, i.e. in the motherboard. Can you repair it and how much does it cost? Do you have information about a complete board from the company so that we can buy it in full? Thank you🌹

    By any chance, did you ever look under the heatsink bracket at what chip is near the HDMI ports? It appears to be a V - Possibly an Intel/Altera Stratix, Cyclone, or MAX V?

    • @guillepunx
      @guillepunx 3 роки тому +1

      I didn't try to remove it on mine because it looks like the chip has some kind of glued thermal compound to the heatsink's pipe
      EDIT: You are right, the chip next to HDMI ports is an Altera MAX® V

    My ninja v took a drop. Still seems to be working fine but the fan isn’t kicking on and I’m afraid itll cause more damage without the fan...Did you end up sending yours off? If so, how long did it take to get fixed? No one local can find parts for repair... thanks in advance

      I did end up sending it in for repair. It took about a week to get it back. I wasn't 100% happy though. When I sent it in, both Battery sockets worked, while they had it one stopped working. I told them it worked when I sent it in, they said it didn't and they wouldn't cover it under warranty. So every since I've only been able to use one battery slot. Now less than a year later my AC power plug is starting to act up and drop out. Thankfully a viewer sent me a replacement back (with battery slots) so I'll be repairing mine.
      Hope you have a better experience.

      @@MandicReally damn did it cost an arm and a leg for the atomos repairs?

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  3 роки тому +2

      @@sylomediadallas it cost me $250 to get it repaired unfortunately. Which is about 40% what a new unit would have cost. I may consider another brand in the future. The issues I've had with this unit are not confidence inspiring for the long run.

    I am Brazilian and here there is not much information about the device, my batterry are downloading very quickly and I added others and we downloaded too?

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  4 роки тому

      I'm sorry I don't understand your issue.
      Are you saying your batteries DRAIN fast? Meaning they lose charge quickly? I DO NOT run the Sony Batteries that clip onto the Atomos Inferno. They drain far too quickly for my liking. I run V-Mount batteries on a separate mount and power the Monitor off the DC input from those V-Mount batteries. Or I run AC wall power.

      Same, that SmallRig cold shoe mount is a pain in the ass.

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  3 роки тому +1

      Fuxie I have a Tilta Cage and Handle on my BMPCC4k and the Handle has a little safety catch so things don’t just fall off even if loose. I love that. I think Smallrig has copied that idea on some newer products but yea it’s annoying.

    • @holafuxie
      @holafuxie 3 роки тому

      @@MandicReally Yes, me too. But my problem was that I rotated the monitor and then it came loose to fall backward (where's no safety catch). For my luck, it was under the warranty period.

    Yeah you should never mount your monitor on the hot shoe, it's not secure, never will be. Cages are the way to go.

    I have heard rumours if you pry the screen away it’s nothing more than a $50 HTC Touch screen.........
    Might be worth investigating further 🤔

    • @MandicReally

      I saw an article showing that, however I'm fairly sure that was an older model. I ran the part numbers on this screen, it is specifically made to be a screen in a unit like this. I was only able to find it direct from the manufacturer in China and unable to get pricing or anyway to purchase it direct.
      I ended up paying the $250 to have Atomos fix it.

      It's a $10 touch panel from an Asus tablet, the same as the original shogun and Assassin although they use the same touch panel but a different $20 7" Panel from JDI that's found in the asus tablet.
