I like both, the one on the left looks like the character is entering a cave while the one on the right looks like he’s about to exit the cave and it’s daylight outside.

I had to draw a Person in a cave with Lights inside and it was dark night outside. It was a bit tricky.

how you shade it tells a different plot story in both form and function. in the left picture, the character is entering a cave. in the right picture, the character is leaving the cave. you can also have this set the general plot mood... in the left picture the character is descending into tragedy/becoming more depressed. in the right picture, the character has finally found enlightenment/solved a problem/becoming happier.
still, i would've also liked to see how you shade this with just ink.

I think both look great but the one on the left makes it look like the person is going into the cave and the one on the right looks like he is leaving the cave. Both look equally affective if that is what you are trying to portrait. I am totally new to drawing and painting so seeing you comparison helps a lot. Thanks for the video!

I can see your point here, but then again, I think the illustration you chose was a bad example, as the method on the left makes it seem like the person is walking into the tunnel and on the right it looks like he's walking out. I guess this also shows that you can't always stick to the one you like the most, but sometimes will have to compromise and pick the one that fits best for the scenario you're trying to create.
