I know this is going to sound weird, especially since this is over 7 years old-- but I've been struggling with flat-feeling images for so long. I knew I lacked something but couldn't figure out what. I created shadows, edges etc. But even then-- it still felt flat. Then I realized I needed depth, but didn't know how. And your video helped me. It's so simple and to the point. I literally teared up in joy as it was liberating to know. Thank you so much!
As a high school art teacher (adv draw adv pntg and others 2d), I can't say enough about these videos! So clear and succinct! They are perfect, telling us all that's important and nothing that isn't. You do things that I can't demonstrate in ten minutes but shouldn't take up the whole period doing. Thank you so much for being a valid and ACCURATE/objective resource for us teachers to use to better our instruction. I could show you from one year to the next, a portraiture project, taught exactly the same, except for the addition of your facial feature videos. The improvements are subtle but important. It also helps when the kids hear you saying the same stuff I'm always saying.. Proves I actually do have an education and I'm not just making it up. A biggie as of late was your how to hold a pencil video. I'm always talking about it, trying to get them to stop "writing" to draw. When they saw your video they were like "oh. Ok". Prior they acted like I was just trying to make them miserable. Thanks so much!!
Self-taught artist struggle with portraits as the topic of values needs extensive coverage. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with the wider public Proko!
Thanks a lot Proko, I've never had the chance of receiving formal education on art and this comes at a great time. You are an excellent artist and instructor!!
Proko, you are probably the best drawing/art teacher currently here in youtube. You are highly skilled, the videos you make are quite interesting and fun to watch. Thanks again for updating us :)
That's really helpful. I had a teaching who would point out that there wasn't much depth in my drawings but wouldn't really say anything about how to fix that.
I just wanna say that you are the best .Keep inspiring people by your knowledgeful and unique vedios and always remember that you are the only one in this world which has this type of extremely remarkable descriptive skil with so much of talent.. Your fans love you very much.....
let me just say, i highly appreciate your channel, it is excellent, education and entertaining. although i have not left my anime phase, i still find these tutorials highly helpful
I could say a lot of things like "This is so educative ad fun".. but all comes to my mind after the bloopers is: "SO cute!!!" :D You're awesome, thank you Proko ;)
Very good video. Thanks, Stan. James Gurney's book "Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter" also discuses atmospheric perspective (and many other things) in depth. Highly recommended!
as a stubborn autodidact who learned drawing trough trial and error without ever watching any tutorials or reading a book i gotta say....ive learned so many things the wrong way and picked up so many bad habits over the years. wish i could go back in time 15 years and go to school for this...
fine lessons. i hv been a subscriber for last two weeks and find your videos to be new as well as efficient. i hv a request to make, please talk about hatching and cross hatching as i don't understand them, even if you ave discussed these processes before please talk again. i hope you will. thank you
Can relate, I paid for lessons and my first experience was that she placed a book in front of me and said paint! Sheesh!!! Some are born teachers others are just born lazy lol :). (Nov. 24/16).
How easy are you to follow! I'm excited with your teaching and you should actually call yourself PRO lol. Great stuff thanks so much (Nov. 24/16). Hope I can see more of your videos.
