Appreciate your honesty. That's why I come to your channel first before I watch other reviews on these e-bikes. A lot of UA-camrs are straight up deceptive, as they're paid-off or given the bike for free, so they feel obliged to provide a good 'review'...
Yeah I gotta tell it how it is
Your honesty is greatly appreciated. Your content has inspired my passion for e-bikes. Thank you! I recently found a bike online called the Philodo H8. It has dual motors, a 22Ah battery and it's over 1k cheaper than the Grizzly. I haven't been able to find any reviews of this bike that I can trust but it's only been out a month or so, I believe. I don't if this is a bike you can review but I would love to see it. Keep up the great work!
Okay I think you guys have been getting some of your info mixed up. The watts and current don't determine the top speed of the motor. Watts and current affect the acceleration and power of the motor and whether or not you'll be able to get up steep hills or power over obstacles and such. The voltage is what determines the top speed. That's why 36v gets you about 20mph, 48v about 30mph, 52v about 35mph etc. Every 12v gets you about a 10mph boost when it comes to hub motors. Take for instance my XP 2.0. I changed the controller to a 1000W one and it still tops out at about 27mph but it accelerates much quicker and has way more power going uphill. It's still hooked up to the stock 500W motor.
Both my bikes are limited to about 28 mph, fantastic bike
It is a geared motor. and has a higher out put on the controller than the super 76. The controller out put is 40 amps. where the super controller out put is 35 amps.
1. Freego in the last few days have updated their website and state outright now down in the fine print that it's an 850W motor.
Kudos to them for that, even if a number of us had to complain to get them to do it--but I wish they'd put it in the BIG print like they have the "1200W" now. The thing is, people who see that 1200W and think this bike will go as fast or faster than Ariel Rider's X-Class or Kepler, and be HORRIBLY disappointed when they ride it.
I'm gobsmacked that they've only got the controller pushing out 17amps. An 850W at 48V can handle *at least* 22amps coming from the controller.
And yeah, $1400 for an 850W 48V *is* a decent price. They just shouldn't try to fool people, you know? (I'd definitely see if you could get into the P-settings on that display and see if you can change the controller output to 22amps, though.)
2. That green car is cute!
3. VOL should be voltage, and if it is, it'll fluctuate as you ride, due to strain (hills), voltage sag, etc. When you stop for a minute it'll go back up (especially if you turn the bike off and back on.)
4. You can get 2-gallon (and bigger) zip-loc bags from Amazon. If your store has an ant problem, it would probably be worth it to get a pack of those and pop your helmet, gloves, lunch, jacket in them when you get to work. You don't want to be taking work bugs home.
I'm late to the party but I'll share anyway. I own this bike and have about 600 miles on it, purchased December 2022 off Amazon.
On flat-level ground in good weather, the fastest I have ever been on this bike is 33 mph. As the battery discharges this goes down pretty fast. 25~ mph is about "normal".
On a full battery (54.6 volts) it's fairly peppy. The current readout on the display is usually 22-23 amps on PA5 and full throttle, that's 1,200~ watts, which is what they claim. I have one time seen it do 24 amps. I've never taken the controller apart or looked at it, this bike is stock.
So, to me it seems like the 1,200 watt rating is correct, and it will pull 22-23 amps continuously, I ride this bike to work on long straights, full throttle and it holds there for miles and miles without stopping.
All that said, the bike is not fast IMO. The biggest thing to speed this bike up, especially on hills are the tires. The tires it ships with are terrible. With the OEM tires this bike had a very hard time climbing hills (we're talking street riding) and the range was not great. 12 mph on hill was normal, it was bad. Changing the tires out for street tires fixed this. I can run up hills at 18-20 mph now, no problem --- all of it was tires.
The other thing is, make sure nothing is dragging. The brakes come per-assembled. Out of the box, both my front AND rear brakes drug pretty bad and I spent a fair bit of time adjusting them (and actually truing up the rotor) so they didn't drag. The brakes on this bike SUUUUCKKK. They're bad. The original bikes shipped with dual hydraulics, but somewhere in production they cheaped out and only the rear is hydraulic as of late 2022+ bikes.
So I guess in conclusion, yes I think it's a 1,200 watt bike, and yes it's slow. LOL. You are right, the controller somehow limits the speed, even when "unlocked".
I know there are a few people on UA-cam that have changed the controller and with the stock motor and battery and go a lot faster.
Honest video and good info. A brushless motor's speed is determined by it's RPM per volt rating, and once it reaches its natural RPM for that voltage, it doesn't matter how many watts you pump into it. If you want to go faster on the same motor and voltage, you need a controller with field weakening to boost the top speed. Wattage will definitely affect torque and acceleration though, and the more wattage the better it will get up to speed. 750 will be casual acceleration, 1200 will be nice, 1500 is perky, 2000 watts is aggressive, and 2600 watts will feel like a dirt bike and flip you on your back! Trust me, I know that from experience! The company does say 1200 watts, but that's peak power and the motor can't hold that without eventually overheating.
It does look like a comfortable bike though, and I'd love to see rear suspension on it. The headlight is pretty bright, and probably needs better mounting brackets. Other bike companies use nylon locking nuts, and they never fall off. The brakes just suck. Regarding computers; I recently changed computers and had 6TB of data, but the data was on SSD's. Simply move the data drives over to the new machine and change your library folder locations, and you're done! Thanks again for the video.
Thanks for the long comment. I’m sure that took a while to write. About the computer thing, they’re both external storage Drive so I just hooked up my brand new one to the old computer and transfer from my old hard drives to that one and it’s actually up and running right now. Fast 💨 🤗
Yep pretty much how they work. Increase voltage will increase top speed not current. Current affect how fast it acceleration and torque will be.
1500w is the sweet spot on a 52v battery for most people including myself. Also quality of cells makes a huge difference as crap Chinese cells will voltage sag off the back even if fully charged. Good quality Panasonic cells on my 40Ah 72v pack I get 4 days a little over 50 miles without having to charge it before notice voltage sag. First couple days stay within a 1v to 2v voltage sag even with pulling current at 5k to 6k watts. On 4th day then sag a bit as battery start to gets weak but still can go a day, or two more before needing recharge. But have to have thick nickel strips so no hot spots as current flows evenly and good BMS with thick gauge wiring. Reason so build my own packs on higher power builds and spot weld it.
Watch out for Honda's!
My girlfriend just bought one of these and I took it for a ride and I got to 33 miles an hour and it was still pulling but it has a different headlight, motor and fenders than yours also has cable covers in front of the seat and has dual hydraulic brakes I've been looking around and there seems to be three different versions of this bike
yeah thats nuts and they aren't labeled v1 or v2
If you own this bike REPLACE THE FRONT AXLE IMMEDIATELY.
Mine snapped on me today in heavy traffic, my front wheel twisted in the fork, warped the brake disk, and sucked up the fender under the fork. I almost died. The entire front end of my bike is ruined, but I am luckily relatively unscathed.
Also, check the wear on your rear brake disk. If it is only showing wear in the very outer edge, the mounting bracket is installed backwards.
If you want to help people out, drop a link to the replacement, that’s stronger than the stock one.
@@MrCentralDriver I don't have one. I'm dealing with the insurance company.
@@philosoraptor777 did you fin out the replacement axle info?
@@andysimpson5878 I replaced the whole front fork, brake rotor and caliper.
I found that Walmart sells freegoev dk200 for $1299.99 how much did you guys buy yours for?
I got this from the company to review but it was 1499 at the time plus my discount code is $100 off so it’s still cheaper at Walmart
Lets go a new video on this bike!!!!!!
Yea thank you for honesty. I want flat 1k-1200. Do you have any suggestions?!?!
Always use blue loctite it's medium you can get it of
I've been watching you for a while and I like that you're honest about all the bikes you get you're the reason I bought a surron you can tell that you love that surron so much and you were having such a great time riding it I had to buy one and see it for myself and you were definitely right I love my bike and I have a great time on it so keep being honest a lot of us guys appreciate it and it was a great video as always
DK200 controller is 11 amps (25A max). It is not a regular spoke motor, it is a scooter hub motor drilled to accept spokes.
Good info
Can you make a video of you going into settings in the bike to see if you can make it fast
Bike is gone
I think it's a great bike for the price but you'd need to upgrade a lot of the stock parts to get that great bike experience, I think they should lower the price and it'll prob be more worth it
Same
How many miles you got on it so far man ? Or had on it, I’m looking at one and it’s listed for $950 bucks with 511 miles on it
I have one of these and on my second ride I popped the dreaded E 02 error code for the breaks. So now I have to trace all the electrical wires for the breaks to all of the connectors and try each one to see if any are loose and if that doesn't get rid of the code, I gotta pull the seat off and unplug the breaks from the controller, wait, then plug them back in and see if THAT gets rid of the code. If THAT doesn't do it, I need a new controller. And at that point, I would like to put in a better one that can use more of the battery and motor. You got any suggestions on what controller that would be?
minimum voltage for your battery is 39 volts I just watch my battery voltage and my trip readout to figure out how much range in have left
i need lock tight for my engwe pro, noticed the other day one of my bolts that connects the 2 frames together was loose, Just glad i don't fully trust the bolts from these cheap bikes xD, Always check every few rides (:
Will Freego ever make a rear rack for the DK200??
What if you upgrade the controller
Can you?
Will the 250 watt version be worth buying. Uk 🇬🇧 laws 😭
Can you wheelie it ??
Is it weather proof ?
ip67. you can get it wet but do not hose it down with water
Just throw a bigger controller on it to hit 30mph+ regularly and it only has to be a few amps higher to achieve it
You can but the point of making these videos are to show the bike in stock form because the majority of people buying these bikes are not going to modify them
Need numbers over top forks so I can order replacement battery and charger HELP
Can u help please
Hey so I’m just curious how much range were you able to get on this bike going around 28
I don’t remember off the top of my head but I did a full review on this bike
Thanks for the info dude,I was going to buy it for the bs 1,200w claim,it's not real 1,200watts just like u said .the price went down to 1,100 on ebay, I'm buying a real 1,200w ebike..thanks very much for the honest review sir..Brooklyn shoutout...respect
Which bike did you end up getting
@Albert Suruy hi sir,I recently brought another electric scooter ,the xtron X30 for 2,200 dollars, it's a reliable dultron thunder knockoff...5,600 watts 30amp battery, just have to get a seat for it,at 67 years old I need to sit down sometimes,i been riding pevs for the last 14 year's and I love them all..good day.
@@wb7370 wow sounds like a good bike I’m going to have to check that out I’m currently looking for a good one and price wise too and that sounds just my alley
Vol is probably voltage
lol yea CUR is current or amps
The cur didn’t work for me and vol is voltage but what’s funny is it says miles in the VOL setting which is odd.
I think I'll wait until the price comes down
It might not just because everything keeps going up including import tax and fees
The new one is 1400 watts, F1 pro back shock front and rear hydraulic brakes
Also an extra 300 bucks
I paid under $700 for my folding bike 500 watt goes 23 mph it's supposed to go 25 it's called,,aostirmotor 20 inch folding ebike
cur might mean current
Yeah it does
So would you put those brakes on your Surroni? ☝️🤟👽🚲
hell naw haha
Do you have to peddle to start it ?
No
How long does it take to charge?
8 hours if fully dead
Does this get better range then the rad runner 2?
I’m not sure
@@MrCentralDriver how much rang could you get what’s the minimum range
Does the Dk go 30 MPH, thanks
yes
Does it go 30 MPH
Full charge yes. After it gets to 80-85% your around 28-29
I seen your first review and now this one the brakes are already bad after 20 miles that bike is not worth the money
I will say I did adjust them using the Allen screws on the brakes and they feel better now
@@MrCentralDriver I was thinking about getting the new one it has a back shock F1 1400 w 35 mph 1700 bucks
I'm glad I bought me a ebike or else I most likely wound never watch this video
You got fat tires, that rabbit shouldnt make ya wreck, lol
still scary haha
It looks like my Tomfree. Is it the same bike?
same frame yes
