People tend to sleep on the fact that Krillin is THE human limit representation in the DB universe. Shame that the human limit ends up just being the "banana for scale" though.
Yeah. I mean in a year he went from being one shot by Raditz to taking out most of the saibamen in one attack. His feats are often insanely impressive in the context of 1 or 2 arcs ago, but he can never really compete with the present threats. Honestly when you consider how many bullshit advantages Saiyans have even without factoring in super forms, it's kind of ridiculous that Krillin kept up with Goku for as long as he did.

@@cpob2013 it's debatable but I'd say yeah. Tien's status as a human is also debatable. He's definitely got some nonhuman ancestry even if it's distant.
Tien's stronger than krillin in his first appearance but he's also like 20 whereas krillin is 16. So that doesn't really imply that tien is more talented.
Tien's use of the kikoho against Cell was pretty badass but other than that krillin generally outperforms him from the Saiyan arc to the tournament of power.
You'd expect Tien to be definitively stronger after krillin sort of retired from martial arts training for a while, but it doesn't seem like he is. Maybe Tien was more focused on teaching and running a dojo than training himself during that time. Or maybe training without an impending threat or a gravity amplifier or a divine teacher isn't really worth much in the dragon ball universe.

Krillin earned his respect by actually sticking with goku after how weak he became in comparison
He was always scared AF but usually ended up being the first one to step up when they needed someone even when he knew it was gonna go badly for him. Krillin has more courage than most of the members of the group and that's what Goku saw. That's why he is the best friend of the main character because he has always fought with him or stood with his family to buy time for Goku to get there
There was no screaming for this first Super Saiyan transformation, there wasn't a whole episode dedicated to it to another transformation. This whole scene of Goku transforming was under a minute and a half, and the longest one was 3.5 minutes.
People overstate how long some stuff takes in DBZ that it retroactively changes people's memories.
Like don't get me wrong, they do hold on some shots for a long time but one episode for a transformation? No transformation got that.

@Nihlux If you find the right clip from the original airing of DBZ (not Kai), it was something like 4-5 minutes for the SS3 transformation. The clip I always used to refer to started with Goku saying "What you see now is my normal state," and ends with him saying, "This is what I call Super Saiyan 3." That clip, if memory serves, was almost exactly six minutes. I want to say 6:02, but don't quote me on that.
But to be fair, that also included the cutaways to the seas churning, Satan City having an earthquake, Mr. Satan in his gym freaking out, Trunks in awe of Goku before continuing on to Capsule Corp, etc. But there was still a lot of Sean Schemmel powering up.
Fun fact: Team Four Star edited the pile of Nails arms into the scene with Frieza for the joke.

He’s Goku’s Best Friend. His death is the Catalyst for the first Super Saiyan transformation.

Seeing it all in one go, I forgot just how hard the went with Frieza and Cell's lines. Most of them aren't even overstated, just solid timing and delivery.

Krillin is important to the whole storyline since og dragonball. It's not his fault that his best friend was actually an alien with ridiculous levels of hidden potential lol.

Gohan grew his back, so it's canon in the show itself. Piccolo pulled off the first one, then Vegeta got it the second time

Krillin is one of the OGs from DB, I like Krillin he’s not nearly one of my favorite characters but every time something goes down Krillin fights, even when he knows he can’t win he fights, and technically he’s the strongest human on Earth throughout the series
There is literally no scream or transformation that took even the a quarter of an episode. The longest in the series was super saiyan 3, which was mostly other characters reactions, was about 3.5 minutes. The whole "characters scream/transform for several minutes/episodes" is a WAY over exaggerated joke. The super saiyan transformation on Namek was about a minute twenty.
It was actually Goku going SSJ4 in GT not SSJ3

Piccolo's powerups are as dramatic as they are because he is actually Akira Toriyama's favorite character in the series. so while the sajians get x50 power-ups Piccolo gets 1,000x power-ups that's how just some mental remaining and a fusion makes him so strong. it also does the same when he fuses with Kami in the cell saga.
One thing I love about the show that a lot of folk don't seem to pick up on is Popo just up and calls Goku his friend when he's in the hospital bed. Kinda funny when you consider how much he looks down on everything and everyone else in existence.
in this serie it actually does kinda show that popo has a soft spot for goku.

I've watched this so many times it's so subtle I never noticed, he might never call himself a friend but he's happy to be considered or implied as one.
Vegetas tail was suppose to grow back a second time. Gokus and Gohans both grew back twice and then after the second time they didn’t grow again. There wasn’t a special reason why they didn’t grow back just didn’t after the second tail grew
Actually it was explained in the game Kakarot which a lot of it is considered cannon. At least the lore dropped. It turns out that if the saiyan becomes powerful enough that the Oozaru transformation is weaker than the saiyan is base, the tail doesn't seem to grow back. With Trunks and Goten they were born already stronger than the great ape form, so they didn't grow one ever. It's an interesting way they got past that, and from an adaptation/evolution standpoint it makes sense. I'm 75% sure Akira Toriyama gave his thumbs up to the lore addition.
@@mitchellhennig2539 that doesn’t make sense considering the great ape form is a multiplayer meaning it’s your base power x10 and that explanation would work (minus that plot hole) if brolys berserk wasn’t a thing either. How can you still access the power if by your definition you’re still leagues ahead of it. That doesn’t make any sense. I don’t consider any video game to be canon especially when they literally change shit that was in the manga; in terms of dialogue differences and when something SHOULD take place and doesn’t.
@@ieatpotatosalad535 I know for goku it was the result of kami putting a spell on it after removing it. For gohan he's a hybrid so maybe that has something to do with it. Vegeta I assume the reasoning he means is that if you go great ape and lose your tail and then receive a zenkai then your body adapts and feels that it no longer needs the tail. And with gotten and trunks it's because their fathers didn't have tails and had FAR outgrown the need for it in terms of their biology. Broly is hard to decern but from what I can understand is broly uses the great ape "form" like a technique. Think of it like the reverse of ultra instinct with goku. Instead of having the need to transform into a giant monkey he just uses the power in his base as a boost. Like his own version of kaioken if you will. It's not out of the land of possibility considering A: broly is the legendary super saiayn. And B: we've seen "forms" like that before like master roshi's buff form.
But if thst still doesn't explain the plot holes. Chalk it up to Akira toriyama (rest his soul) kept forgetting to add saiyan tails to his saiyans and forget his own rules and just decided to scrap it general.
The ginyu force is not a reference to jojo . Toriyamas kids loved sentai so he wrote them into the manga based off of sentai for his kids
Jojo was still new and not very popular when this arc started.
Episode 11 starts seaosn 2, where the audio quality and writing gets much better. Episodes 11-13 are great, and then I think the stretch of episodes 15-24 are the tightest written pure comedy of the show. episode 30 part 3, then season 3's episode 31-33 are fantastic with the lines.
Sean Schemmel, the Funimation English dub voice actor for Goku, has clarified in interviews that he didn’t pass out from screaming during any transformations in Dragon Ball Z. He said it was during the super saiyan 4 transformation in Dragon Ball GT.
Yea, it was because SSJ4s voice is lower, and he didn't take a good breathe before doing a kamehameha, so trying to force that air out at a lower voice without enough taken in, he passed out, or nearly did.
Krillin may have been a joke but the fact that he survives almost the entire Namek Saga with only Gohan, on a planet with strong characters as Zarbon, Dodoria, the Ginyu Force, and Freeza is a huge accomplishment; not only that, he survived longer than Vegeta

I just assumed the group was called Four Star because the Four Star dragon ball is special to Goku - it was held by his grandfather, and was on the hat gohan wore when he was kidnapped by Raditz.

@jdogzerosilverblade299 If it's super goku than yeah I see your point. But Z goku is not an idiot by any standards nor is he as bad as he is made out to be. He's not the reason big threats exist on earth. The opponents were already threats to begin with, goku just showed up and kicked their asses. But because of goku's good nature sometimes it comes back to bite him.
He did try to kill frieza on namek. Frieza just survived unbeknownst to goku. And if trunks hadn't shown up, goku would have killed frieza there. Frieza was already a threat to the universe. The only reason it has anything to do with goku is due to the circumstances. And that was caused by vegeta and nappa. If you want to look at it. Frieza coming to earth was the fault of vegeta since he's the catalyst that sent everyone to namek.
The red ribbon thing is a bit of a hard topic since android were already made before goku showed up (android 8 being a prime example) not only that but if goku hadn't taken down the red ribbon they would have taken over the world (given pilaf hadn't gotten his wish). 17 and 18 were just byproducts of goku already stopping a world threat that he thought was fully gone.
Fun fact: I'm 90% sure that piccolo answering freeza's joke was because nail already heard it

It's Wednesday!! The finale for Xmen '97 just dropped! WOOHOO! You know that the guys are gonna watch it! But I think that some UA-camrs wait like 24 hours to release stuff like that so that they don't tempt the strike police eh? Plus heheheh DBZA is pure gold, you get to see how TFS evolved with their editing and voice acting and you get to see how they get progressively better and better.

Piccolo after training at king kai's became 200,000. Fusing with nail he became 1,000,000 which is why he beat second form frieza. The fusion made him 5x stronger.

I still find the twist of Zarbon, despite all the innuendos he constantly says, not being gay and everyone just being like “I’m sorry, huh?” hilarious. The reaction from Freeza alone when he says he has a girlfriend is priceless
in the original anime, from the time Goku lands on Namek to the planet blowing up is close to 16 hours of footage. I actually recorded the episodes as they came out even making sure to cut out the commercials... it is a LOT of footage they shrunk down for the abridged.
34:33 I can’t believe that they just randomly disrespected Masako Nozawa’s performance as Goku, she may not be my favorite Goku voice, but holy shit she’s been doing it since day 1 of the Dragon Ball anime, and IS Goku to Japan. And then they said that the DBZ Dub is known as one of the best. DBZ Kai? Yeah that’s more accurate, but the original DBZ dub wasn’t good, it constantly changed stuff, be it for the worse or just an unnecessary change.

the reason why vegeta(and gohan) never get their tails is because toriyama was tired of drawing them, then later on he had forgotten BUT ended up coming up with the explanation that half saiyans(trunks and goten) have a chance to be born without tails, as for vegeta and gohan the explanation is that they got so strong they basically SOMEHOW outgrew their biology of needing a tail, as for goku kami used a special technique to make it so his tail never grew back(until gt anyway)
Of all the transformations to be short, the super saiyan one actually took only a minute or so. I thought I remembered long, drawn out screaming, but it was a lot of shaking anger and a short scream. It wasn't just shouting continuously. If it was, TFS absolutely would have honored it as you'll see with other transformations. But if they don't have the footage to work it, it's a lot harder to do. And why change the scream if they don't have to? They make changes for a joke, not to change the seriousness.

That guy on the bottom right has some really weird takes about the show. It's like he thinks every meme or lighthearted jab at DBZ by fans was meant to be taken literally. Yes, the transformations were noticeably panned out to fill in the runtime. But we're only talking in terms of minutes within an episode, not literally entire episodes. That would be unwatchable. That's watching paint dry on a wall if the wall could scream.

Goku’s tail grew back several times as a kid. Gohan’s tail also grew back several times as a kid. Soon, no one had tails, because they already had to draw a lot and they just didn’t wanna. Or they forgot. Or both. Also drawing the Oozaru forms was probably annoying and hard, but that’s just speculation on my part.
