I love these season compilation videos, makes binging your reactions even more convenient. And the new edits are great. Avatar is such an amazing series. The pseudo-anime style, the awesome bending scenes, great characters, a deep story, and Appa being best boy. I hope we get the other two books.
What I love most about this show is that everyone is a full complete character. Even Momo and Appa. They're not pets, they're full characters with their own personalities and who make their own decisions. In any other show, (or the damn movie) they'd just be pets pushed to the side.
Can we all agree that Appa was the MVP of that fight in the Bato of the Water Tribe episode?
Like he really just went "Aang might have a no kill rule BUT I DON'T BITCHES!"
It's the second worst episode of the show IMO but that fight alone makes it worth watching, it's great.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466whattttttt crazy take
@@yayoinkdab5883 Everyone just feels a bit out of character. Iroh is weirdly Pervy towards June. Katara straight up abandoning Aang over the letter feels too harsh for her, she'd be very angry but would calm down and understand why he did it, especially after he apologised. Sokka would probably leave as a knee jerk reaction and after cooling off come back, but he doesn't. Both of them are just straight up going to leave Aang until he gets attacked.
Plus just the whole thing with Sokka sailing just isn't the most interesting thing in the world. There are much more interesting moments and episodes were Sokka proves his skills and value IMO.
Bato is also a bit of a generic and boring nice guy. It might've been nice if we saw the effect the war was having on him more, adding to Sokka and Katara's desire to get to their dad sooner to check he's okay.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466 Yeah, people keep saying how there's no filler episodes, meanwhile there's Winter solstice part 1, the Great divide, Bato if the Water Tribe, The Fortuneteller, Prison episode, Avatar Day, Cave of two lovers....All of which are vary from mid to terrible and can be easily cut out
@@almas4663 I disagree with a few of those being filler to be honest. Winter Solstice part 1 introduces The whole concept of the Avatar being the bridge between spirits and humans,
Fortune Teller and Cave Of Two Lovers both advance the relationship between Aang and Katara, plus Fortune Teller probably has the most awesome example of Aang bending the environment outside of a fight.
The prison break episode could definitely have done with being one episode shorter though, especially as we never got a Zuko and Toph adventure.
The reason the fighting looks so clean is that they based each element on a real martial art. They had a master come in and teach the artists the basics and they did movement models.
Air - Baguazhang style
Water - Tai Chi
Fire - Northern Shaolin
Earth - Hung Gar and
one specific Earthbender uses Southern Praying Mantis style
To clarify on Momo's name, Momo means Peach in I think Japanese, Aang gave him the name when he took a Peach from Sokka.
I forgot that! You're right.
And Appa is "apple."
Yall need to remember that basically all the main characters are kids. Zuko is like 16? He still has kindness in him and will offer to save Zaoh despite everything cause thats the innocence of a child. Its only the world that makes us hard ans cruel. And while its certainly started happening to Zuko he does still have that child in him.
I'm actually in the middle of a binge of season 1 myself, and I forgot how very anime esq it is, WITHOUT being anime. It's weird, but it works. Like, the character designs, and worldbuilding feels very anime, but the show avoids a lot of typically bad anime tropes. It's genius how they take inspiration from real life martial arts for the four bending elements:
*Airbending = Baguazhang aka circle walking.* This is clearly very nicely shown during any close quarter combat Aang has; such as vs Zuko in his room in the ship, getting behind him and staying behind him. Then again fighting Zuko in Bato of the Water Tribe, constantly using good footwork to get around attacks, and get behind Zuko, then showing his agility at the well fight.
*Waterbending = Tai Chi.* It consists of a series of slow, meditative body movements that were initially intended for self-defence as well as to encourage calmness and inner peace. It also focuses on push and pull, which are the very fundamentals of Waterbending, as the Moon was the original bender, pushing and pulling at the ocean.
*Earthbending = Hung Gar.* Hung Gar is based on the movements of animals, especially the tiger, which represents hard power, and the crane, which stands for soft power.
*Firebending = Nothern Shaolin.* Aggression and dynamism equate the style to the element of fire in Taoist thinking. It emphasizes strong, long punches, kicks, fast movement and acrobatics.
They would have real life martial artists come in and perform moves for the animators to study, much like how Disney artists would study live animals brought into the studio, from deer for Bambi, lions for The Lion King, and Dalmatians for 101 Dalmatians. It's a testament to what goes into creating an animated project.
In regards to Aang, he's one of the best protagonists just...ever in a cartoon. People tend to mischaracterize him a LOT, from thinking his weakest element is Earth when it isn't, to thinking he ALWAYS runs away when he has stood his ground, to thinking he's weak because he holds onto his beliefs with an iron grip...but that's because they're only looking at him at a surface level view. His anger is a core part of his personality, that he has to overcome and push back a lot. He's kind of like the embodiment of the quote “Fear the anger of a gentle man.”
I also reccomend rewatching korra! Ngl i like it more than atla since recent years
@@humanoidfrog4645 I actually quite dislike Korra, for a lot of what it does to the worldbuilding in a pretty damaging way. Such as the Raava Vaatu thing. It ensures we could never have a nuanced Avatar that could do the wrong things for the right reasons, kind of like say Shadow the Hedgehog, which would be fascinating to look at especially in modern worlds. I really dislike Beginnings Parts 1 and 2, because it made the world feel smaller, not larger. And I hate how the Air Nomads were brought back by complete accident; it was said the original Airbenders were Sky Bison-how cool would it be to see someone like Opal watch a Sky Bison use their tail to Airbend, and just...AIRBEND?
And I'm not even gonna get started on the past lives loss. That was done purely for shock value, as it had NO major consequence to the world at all. Korra mentioned in season 3 she feels like she should be wiser, which was great but they never explore that. Not like how they explore that the Avatar State was a source of FEAR for Aang, which explains WHY he was so afraid to enter it vs Korra just spamming that sht.
Korra herself, is a good character, and a great successor to Aang. I just wish the writing around her was better. But if you like LoK that's cool. Not gonna like, explode over that opinion or anything.
btw.... this is not PART of the story or explained in the show.... But the different bending in avatar are ACTUAL chinese martial arts IRL, aka the movements.
Water bending = Tai Chi
Earth bending = Hung Gar
Fire bending = Northern Xiaolin style
Air bending = Baguazhang
this is why u cant just SIMPLY know how to bend, u have to learn it like a martial art style... also not everyone is a bender... some are normal humans like Sokka and some are bender like Katara. Then we also have Aang who is avatar, that means INNATELY, he is capable of learning all 4 types. So for example, even if Sokka who is from water tribe tries to learn waterbending, he wont be able to bend.
Pro-bending => Modern Mixed Martial Art
Gotta love these details!
I think you're wrong when you say you HAVE to learn it like a martial art. That's usually the case, sure but the women of the south water tribe for example are healer by tradition. If they practice "Tai-Chi" they probably do so more as meditation than martial art. You see some character using moves from other element here and there (Zuko moving like an earthbender, Korra throwing fire as she move like an airbender in that pro-bending match, etc...) Korra herself, mastering 3 elements at 6 year old (Yeah avatar and all that, but still).
And there's that guy from Korra who seem to have mastered his bending purely via meditation and philosophy.
the best part about this fact is I think Toph actually uses a different martial arts form than other earth benders. if I'm not mistaken, she uses Southern Praying Mantis style. I've also heard that that particular fighting style was developed by a bpund woman, which if that's true, is pretty cool
Hey y'all! Not to just comment a suggestion, but if it hasn't already been seen before or planned to be seen yet, Rango would be a great movie to watch! It's an animated Western and I think you guys would enjoy it!
Edit: Also, I don't know what happened, but all of the ATLA animation reactions are missing from the patreon?
Having finished the binge, there's one thing I want to recommend-
I have no idea if any type of fanfiction is your thing, but if it even remotely is, you might want to check out the fic 'Embers' by Vathara. It is an amazing, lengthy, in-depth examination of many of the cultures, intricacies, themes, and ideas (especially, in some ways, about the spirits and what happens when the Avatar gets possesed by the Ocean...) in this already wonderful and deep series. It's largely Zuko-centric, too so if you want to see more of him, or a slightly different version of him, its a great way to do so. Anyway, loved the season, can't wait for the next!
Hell yes. That's a _fantastic_ story, and I love it so much.
It's been quite a while since I read it. Maybe it's time for a reread...
These book-by-book compilations are great but we REALLY need an all-Iroh reaction compilation from y’all for everyone’s favourite uncle! Pretty please!! ❤️
They could pull a lot of that type of reaction out of this series. "All Iroh reactions," and "all Zuko reactions" and "all emotional reactions," and "all action reactions"...
@@Lycanthromancer1That would be milking it, we know everyone wants to see an Iroh reaction compilation, don't lie!
who know...I was hesitant about the new editing style for a bit in the beginning but know it's pretty alright. Honestly as long as I can see all the reactors on the same screen with the actual show still playing like 75-90% of the whole time during these type of edited videos then I think I'll be able to easily be used to them. (just my thoughts)
ATLA is genuinely one of my favorite TV series out there. It's writing is immaculate for a kids show, the themes they portray are deep and the animation is flawless. I am so happy you guys have been loving book 1 because (IMO) it only gets better from here!
P.S. Book 3 is my personal favorite so I cannot wait until you guys get to it :)
God I love these compilation videos and avatar is so good
The edits make this absolutely hilarious 😂
"This show gets better and better and better." Said right before watching what is universally considered the worst episode in the entire series. 😂
I believe that Roku was an example how a full fletched Avatar looks like. Its like you play a tutorial were you start as a super powerful being then u start from scratch 1. Aang only did the tutorials from the first episodes and now he learn what to do he gotta master all the elements then he become just like Roku.
Fun fact: The VA for Meng (Michaela Murphy) would go on to voice Toph in books 2 and 3 and Suyin in Korra.
hope there will be compilations for Adventure time s3 and 4 as well. Love the channel❤
We'll be doing compilation vids for all our series. Thats a big focus for us this year :D
@@SortaStupidsir, if you love last AirBender and Korra, will you please react to My Hero Academia (English Dub)? You will love it!!
Bless yall for this I've been sick all this week and this made my morning
Thank you for the compilation I like the editing ❤ ❤.
40:03 Fun fact: The voice of the canyon guide in The Great Divide is played by Leonard Stone, who played Mr. Beauregard (Violet’s father) in the 1971 Willy Wonka film.
Did you notice when Aang was learning firebending and started playing around with the fire and burned Katara that the sequence was almost exactly what he did when he was learning waterbending and started showing off.
I absolutely love the visual of the snow turning black in the finale for season 1. It’s a wonderfully ominous callback to what happened in the South watertribe. The same tragedy would’ve befallen the North, had Aang not been there. The Fire Nation would’ve conquered the North, even if Aang had never been found.
Thank you for making a compilation I'm watching avatar for the first time and just finished the first season. Love your reaction s
This was fun to watch! I like the super cut since I’ve seen so many other reactions and watched the series so many times it was fun to see a highlight version!
Time to rewatch the rewatch again I guess.
I love this show and I'm so glad they're watching it.
Love your vids man!!!
hyped for your reactions to seasons 2 and 3 :)))
They were given 12 episodes. The show was a hit, both with children, but surprisingly with adults. While it was airing, I think the average viewer was in their mid twenties. Once the show was a hit, they stopped with the kiddie stuff and just ran with it. You can tell the difference once you hit "The Storm" episode. The show feels different afterwards.
Finally Avatar reactors who put some respect on Lord Momo ❤
This might be the first time i seen somebody post the full season at once
Great reaction!
And what's crazy is that as good as this season is, I'd still rank it as the sixth best of the seven seasons of Avatar. Barring one particular season in Korra, it only goes up from here.
Just finished binging DBZA abridged and now Avatar? Heck yeah
Also during your DBZA abridged y’all mentioned wanting one piece abridged a few times so thought I’d mention one does exist it’s pretty new but really solid
The directors outsourced the animation for The last airbender to a japanese studio, because at the time american studios just couldnt produce the show fast enough and animate the fighting scenes fluid enough without spending a ton of money... so technically its an anime 😂
I thought it was a Korean animation company
Fun fact, Danta Basco who voiced Zuko also ships Zuko and Katara
OK KO is a cartoon made by Rebecca Sugars husband, Ian Jones-Quarterly. It's really good.
I'm looking forward to your later season binges- a lot of your character speculation is going to pay off
ETA: Glory to the eternal cry of "MY CABBAGES!"
I have a little theory/ head canon. You know the metor sokka got his sword from what if that was (i can't believe i forgot her name) from the chick sokka liked that became the moon what if she sent that metor down as a gift for sokka idk i mean there is nothing against the theory but that would be a cool little thing. Also i want to know more about bending and space like how does space affect benders maybe no one can bend in space or maybe there are new things to learn idk.
Hm, what a Season, an every well done introduction to a Series like this.
By the way, was this edited in a different way than the Initial UA-cam Reaction Videos?
I think it is. They would have had to cut each episode reaction down. Otherwise this would have been much, much longer. Lol.
@@meganlodon like their Adventure Time Compilation.
you are gonna love the villain of season 2
Hey they have an open playlist of them reacting to the whole of avatar. So they’ve already seen it. But you can watch them react to it anytime
luffy energy YES i couldn't have said it better
Lol. You can actually tell who's new here and who's not based on the comments.
Most benders can only control the element of their own race, though they have to be trained to master it. But the Avatar is inherently born with the power to control all four.
I'd say each season was better than the one before so the third is my favorite but I love them all.
9:08 BRO that was so out of pocket. 💀
18:48 actually, technically yes, he is. 😊
Love this
Would love to see you guys reacting to ArtsSpear Entertainment's:
1.Superhero bowl
2.Supervillain bowl
3.Super showdown
4.Fanfictasia ep1
5.Fanfictasia ep2
6.Fanfictasia ep3
7.Fanfictasia ep4
Can someone tell me if they started ultimate alien on their patreon yet
FYI: Aang is 12. Sokka is 15. Kitara is 14. Zuko is 16. Azula (Zuko's sister) is 14.
uhh did nobody else notice the air nomad genocide or are we just not talking about that.
32:00 you are too funny. 😂
You should watch the movie! 🙂
💀
Am I the only one that thought of Digimon when I see hei bai?
Will you guys do a reaction to JJK season 2? Sorry if you’ve already answered this question, maybe I just missed it
Second season is the best.
Appa the GOAT
Also Uncle Iroh is so great.
Is this a reupload? I thought you seen legend of Korra already
watching thissss
Hehe putting it all together mmm I'll return with a snack or drinks later 🤔 I got a blanket to put around me
season 2 is the best
MY CABBAGES!!
Yue does a pretty shit job as the moon spirit given the fact you can count how many times from this point onward there is not a full moon on a single hand, despite the fact that it was actually accurate to moon cycles up to this point
I am ecstatic Hman was not a part of any of the Avatar reactions
What's with all of the cuts? Several bits and jokes have been removed, why? So far I remember the Appa sneeze joke, the peacocking on Kyoshi Island, and the first two trials of Bumi. I'm sure there's more I didn't notice missing. What's the point of butchering so much?
The point make a short (one-hour) video that inspires you to look at the entire playlist of full episodes from which these clips were made.
@@matthewbergdorf4108 I guess I expected a binge series to be a complete series. Kinda frustrating
It’s a compilation of the entire season condensed down to a little over an hour. Not everything will be included, including things like random sneeze jokes
We have full reactions available to all our patreon members
@@SortaStupid it was never about the random sneeze jokes, but the guys' reactions to random sneeze jokes. my first comment reads as way more combative than I meant it too. thanks for taking the time to reply 🙏
It's a western made show, but the mythology is Asian. That's why some of the supernatural creatures look familiar.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
No extra adventure time😢
The extra videos were just for December. We are on S7 for patreon members though :D
Promote patreon a lot is a good way to get like..at least a little more patreon members
Me whenever a girl flirts with me 1:09:02
1:08:21 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Iam very excited to watch u guys see the rest Of Avatar Korra's Story
@1:08:36 I AM HOWLING PLEASE LMAOOOO THAT EDIT WAS SO GOOD
And to think, Season One is the least popular of the three...
"Its gonna be Zuko"... Well, not saying youre wrong... Just saying the showrunners are 🤬.
I was thinking bout jet and came to the conclusion that he has the rizz buuut i didn't like him when i watched the show cause i didn't like his dub voice in my country😶
Watch avatar comics along with gravity falls comics and a show called bakugan
:D
Love this
