Wow, Paul has been dead so long now! Since '82, hard to believe. Every time people talk about his behavior off camera, it's kind of depressing -- the drinking, the anger, and this stuff.
Paul Lynde does have perfect timing for comedy. Thank you for sharing! The Osmonds were such a clean-cut family (singers) with great music (great to grow up with that kind of influence).
I love Paul Lynde so much and think he is the funniest comedian that ever was. I used to watch him when I was a kid and loved him. No matter what he said he was funny. I am sorry he is gone.
I gotta respect Donny. If only for the fact that the man is a tremendously good sport when it comes to jokes about him. He knows people think he's totally white bread and he embraces it. Like his cameo in "White & Nerdy". One Hell of a good sport. He also plays along well when he appeared on Space Ghost. I dont listen to his singing at all but I can respect his attitude.
Back when I was a kid in the Seventies, watching Paul on Bewitched and Hollywood Squares, I had no idea what homosexuality was. I just knew that he was a funny guy who never failed to make me laugh. It wasn't until years after his death that I learned about the real pain behind that big smile. He also dealt with childhood obesity. He lived daringly with one foot out of the closet at a time when coming out or getting outed was career suicide because there was no other way to do it! I can't help but wonder, though. Did Donnie and Marie know that about him? If this had all happened in 2021, would they still have allowed him on their show, or would they have decided that Mormon doctrine vehemently frowned upon it?
I think they knew he was gay. I like to think they are open minded having been in entertainment their whole lives. They respected Paul for his talent and accepted him.
The Osmonds were quite accepting of everyone asd always treated those they worked with respectfully. They were very observant Mormons and don’t hide that from anyone, but they always sorta were like “We’ll do is, you do you.” My uncle drove a bus for them back then. He loved them. Only criticism he ever had was that they kept long work hours and expected the staff to keep up. Sleep was kind of optional some nights.
@@MichaelAirington no shit sherlock-Many 70’s shows did NOT use a laughtrack and of course mormons STILL hate gays today as they did in the 70’s-THAT was my point!
Paul Lynde was one of those performers who could make people laugh by saying anything. It was that weird twang in his voice that was so funny.
R.I.P. Paul Lynde.6/13/1926-1/10/1982. He will be so remembered!!

When I was 12, I knew I was gay because I got all of Paul Lynde’s jokes 😆
Paul Lynde is a genius.
Wow I can't believe an old episode of Donnie and Marie from the 70s had a commentary of an older Donnie and Marie commenting on Paul Lynde.

What an expert talent, and gone far too soon.
Thanks for this, it's really funny. He was a lot like Alice Ghostley!

Well put!
Oh wow, Seth McFarlane really did base American Dad's Roger the Alien after Lynde. To a T.
God, Paul Lynde is good.
What I like is how as the scene progressed and the items kept coming, his voice got bitter and more bitter.
You don't write that stuff exactly.
Hahahahaha!😂
u kno, Roger on American Dad. His voice was actually based on Paul's
