Some great suggestions. I'm about to add a backpack to my seat once I get my kayak unwrapped. One thing I do is add some dense foam under my crate. Not as heavy and quieter if moved. Changed the logo? At least it doesn't show a beard!
Man…. I just bought my first Kayak a few weeks ago and have been rigging it ever since. Wilderness Systems Radar 135 with the Helix PD. I got a smoking good deal on it and I too drove 4 hours to pick it up on the Ohio river haha. I’ve got just about everything you have rigged and more! I was just winging it but looks like I’m on the right track! Love it!
The last two kayaks I bought... I drove 6 hours and 4 hours for. Worth it for the deals you can get! Ps.. you drove by one of my favorite places to fish! We may need to coordinate sometime this summer
May I make a suggestion about the ketch broad? Ok thanks😂. I would but a sticker on the inside fence as well to break up the color of the broad so the judges can see the fish's mouth against the broad. Makes it easier for them to judge.
Love the trailer! I need a trailer mod so I can fit 3 kayaks. Was going mount 3 pairs of J bars. My kayak is alittle heavy, the other are light sit ins.
Yeah, I got that video coming on soon on how I did mine. It just took some patience to find the materials on FB marketplace.. Very happy with how it turned out.
@@wendellfishing I'm not on FB, Ohio Craigslist didn't have much on Kayaks, checked WV , there's a bunch of Fishing Kayak related stuff on that search, KY has some stuff too.
Sweet rig, trailer, hoist and all! Had an idea for your under seat drawer. Plastic drawer organizers...like for silverware or office supplies, mount with sticky velcro. Come in many sizes, getting ready to get some for drill bits, etc.
Thanks for the idea... I'm already invested in another alternative right now but my 3Dprinting guy is bogged down with orders! Thanks for sharing though... could be helpful for others who may want to try
Thanks for the ideas… I just replaced my motorized kayak with a Hobie Outback and about to begin getting it setup… trying to be a little more organized with this one
Really kicking myself for saving the money and going with a Hoodoo Impulse 120. Bought it during covid and it was either spend too much on a Hobie or Bonafide (the Bonafide new was only slightly more at the time but backordered till after that summer) on the secondary market or get the Hoodoo which is compatible with almost nothing that doesn't just screw into kayak tracks. The upside is Hobie's patent ran out on the original mirage drive and Hoodoo uses it so I could put a Mirage180 in it if I want to spend $1000 to get reverse. I'd have to drill into the hull to get the native landing gear to work, right now using railblaza c-tug...I wouldn't recommend, it's the only cart system that I can store on the kayak while I'm out in the water with the current config.
Nice yak. I need pedal drive. Love the workout part of yakking. Found the Omega locking collar a headache with fatter EVA grips on cat rods. I ditched the lock and shaved the opening for clearance. I have the Garmin Striker CV4, great bang for the buck and great vids for use on YT. Really dig those Lew's rods you have. Love mine. Great vid. Lead me to some mods I may have overlooked and would like
Right on Steve! Thanks for the comment and tips. Those Lews rods are solid and have done me really well over the years... especially for kayak fishing where it's nice sometimes to have shorter rod lengths and I believe they are 6.6
Hey man, real glad I came across your videos. I’m looking to buy my first kayak and I’m 5’7 and about 265lbs big boy. I was wondering if you could even just give me your recommendation for a kayak that would be sufficient that won’t lose performance due to weight. Been seeing about weight capacity vs performance capacity. Please let me know any recommendations. Looking to be stable enough to stand. Thanks!
@@wendellfishing haha took a couple days but back to reality! You inspired me to get a camera set up for the yak! Content coming soon! Appreciate the follow brother! 🤙🏻
What a great video and channel! I really like alot of the DIY stuf fyou are doing. If you have a 3D printer I would print a riser track for your under seat storage. This way it will connect to your rails and still have rails on the risers for your seat to slide into. Awesome channel man, I am for sure going to sub.
Thanks boss! Ironically, I just built the prototype for the riser track for the under the seat storage. It's off to the 3d Printer! Thanks for the sub and reach out anytime!
Sweet yak and hacks! Just purchased my first yak and got the Pelican Catch PWR 100. I followed the link for the Sidekick wheel system. Would that work on my wide yak?
Thank you for responding @Wendell Fishing , I appreciate it! I'm not opposed to mounting the correct tracks if need be, given they are sold separately? Also curious if the width of my yak is too wide? One of the pics on the website doesn't show the spreader bar. I could always accommodate an aluminum pipe to go in-between I'm thinking...
Oh I certainly concur. Pedal propeller drive is king instant stop then quick reverse. You can’t do that with a motor and certainly not with a paddle. ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Seastream YAK!!!! 😊
your avatar caught my eye first off. had to think where i saw it before.....turns out, you're in the KBF tournament that im in (June Challenge). ha.....good luck!! whereabouts you in ohio? I'm down here in cincinnati. hoping to get on the water this coming sunday. good video......new subscriber here :) does that ketch board lock into place?
Hey! Welcome to the Knuklhed Tourney! I live up here in Canton, OH but I get down to Cincy once in a while and fish with Paul from Cincy Fish Dudes. They ketch board does lock in to place. It wasn't made for it but it works great.
Hey Clean Fun, Great to hear from ya. Overall I like it... but I like it at the price point I got it for $2100. Tracks like a boss due to the hull design, Stability, I stand easily and fish (I have pretty good balance still) I paddle it .002 percent of the time so not a lot to say here. The only things I'm still up in the air about is the turning radius. I haven't been in too many 12.7's before so I don't have a lot to compare it to. Going from my 10ft native slayer with a rudder extension.... it's noticeable and I need to figure something out as I fish tight spots sometimes.
@wendellfishing thanks man I appreciate that. The steering is not a huge deal breaker for me as long as it will get to the areas. I use my paddle to fish in shallow and if it tracks good that is a huge plus for me. The sharp turning kayaks don't track bc they want to turn too fast. You get one cast and you're turned around. I'm considering this kayak strongly very soon. Tight lines!
So looking at getting a fishing kayak, what im worried about most is going over the side, for whatever reason. Do you use outriggers at all if not, how stable are rhese kayaks?
To be honest, I got it for $2000 and it was only used once. Hard to pass up. I could use it for a year and sell it for more than I bought it for at that price. Want to give it a shot for a season. I also am a HUGE fan of the propel drive. I like what I see so far but I need to figure out a modified turning system for it. Not happy with that so far.
Hey Jesse, I have they video done and in the cue. It will be coming out in two weeks. Sorry about that.
