Agreed always an empty bottle and some poo paper .. but one accessory I have that I think all fishos should have is a small first aid kit.. may never need it but it’s good to have it cos one there are good for using in an emergency for injury but a lot of the other items are very useful if you ever find yourself stranded you can create shelter and fire from a first aid kit… I also like to run a chair bag to put a rain cover or a jumper and such in case weather changes .. we’re all guilt of that go out on a nice day weather changes get caught in the cold or rain
Well done, another entertaining but also very educational video 😁 One thing I would recommend under footware is NRS Boundry Shoes or something similar for the colder seasons, especially up north. They are warm, keep water out and can be worn in the water to launch your kayak etc.
Great list. Love it. I use the Hobie gear keeper. They hold up well in the saltwater that I fish. My Scissors are kastking line Scissors, I love the sheath that they come with, I attach it directly to my vest or bag. Usually I wear dive boots when I am on the kayak, great in cold weather, but not easy to take off. Thanks so much for the video! You guys do an awesome job!
You can get a port-a-Jane from your local Walgreens, CVS, or most pharmacy sections. A poncho is also handy for use as a privacy screen. Just make sure its not a see thru one.
Great list. Kayaked on a river for the first time last year and had to borrow a measuring board. Bought for this year’s trip but was ruing not having a net. I lost fish and broke off trying to boat flip. Pretty flippin’ frustrating. Thankfully, I was able to land a 17” smallmouth on my last cast, so some of the bitterness of the trip disappeared, but I’m definitely buying one for next year 😂. Thanks for the content.
Great video guys, I think I'm going to change my PFD at the end of the year, I just don't like mine, it's super bulky and I have a hard time leaning forward in the yak. I love these kind of videos, that help us newbies know what we should keep on hand.
@@aaanglers Thanks guys. Was thinking I could clip nips and pliers to it and then the phone and rest goes in cup holder, under seat, or crate depending on how often I need it... but you guys have a lot more needs with camera equipment as well. Will have to consider the options you mentioned now as well... I'm not as worried about the safety as I am about the law. I fish small lakes/ponds, am a good swimmer and with the inflatable I figure I'd wear it for my full 6-12 hour fishing days instead of being tempted to dump it when I get hot or it ride up.
Very informative. Great rundown of essentials, including what features they should have. You two have an on-screen chemistry that made the video feel casual and friendly. Great quality video, production, scenery. Clear sound. You deserve more likes and subscribes.
In reference to the "large mouth Gatorade bottle" tip. I saw a video where this guy used a hose with a balloon. One end attached to the hose with a rubber band, the hose put over the side or down a scupper plug hole, and he cut the other end of the balloon off to put around his "thang" when he needed to relieve himself....
Exactly the video I needed to see. Just bought a fishing kayak and would like to think of everything before I get out fishing and need something. Thanks guys.
It seems a secret where to buy accessories like rails that fit the specific kayak, I have hobie AI, I can’t find motor mounts, holder for a fish finder. I’ve had to pretty much invent it myself.
I have a pair of crocks and a pair of the Merrell. When the Merrell’s get wet they are so slick and slide side to side on my feet. I don’t know how I didn’t twist an ankle last kayak trip. I love everything else about them. The Crocks don’t slide around when wet or n water. The Merrell fit my feet perfectly. Have you had that problem???
You guys nailed it. I'm a huge fan of PFD and I would like to see more people talk about them. Great list of items to have and I love my wizard anchor. I would suggest bring sunblock. Great video!
Especially after being towed once already, I would say you never want to be on the water without an actual kayak paddle and not those little one-handed ores. That's just being safe.
@@aaanglers I just got the big fish 108 for my first kayak haven’t even put it in the water yet I think it’s 38 inches wides as well but kayak fishing is going to be my new hobby. What’s your thoughts on that kayak
My old fishing buddy had one of those mini-oars (not worth its weight, IMO) - he also had a PA14, so why waste weight and room on a full size paddle in a barge that cannot be paddled (not a PA fan, obviously)!!! I would not leave the dock without a full sized paddle, however, I have always fished from paddle worthy yaks (except my PA12 mistake)! Of course, I pulled him back twice with my propel drive almost 2 miles from the fishing spot when his mirage drive failed! Living in SE Louisiana, we accumulate plastic "Mardi Gras" cups. They make a great "pee" cup in the kayak. One trip I forgot the "pee" cup and found a floating Gatorade bottle in the bayou! My choice of preferred "pee" cups are those thrown by local politicians who love to ride in parades throwing their political ads on a plastic cup - I love peeing in those cups! Good video - looking into those Mocs, now!
This is kayaking? 400lb? Aren't we getting away from the minimalist portability idea and getting into jon boat territory? I doubt you could portage this into backwaters or do rocky rivers.
The absolute only reason I have pfd is due to regulations. Which also states I don't have to wear it. I keep it in the hull. If I drown from falling in during the time of year I take my kayak out then I deserve it.
@@aaanglers it's more or less me saying dont buy some crazy expensive pfd. My cheap one was 30. I go out in swimmable water Temps and I grew up on the side of the river. Not taking a shot at yall. I will say if you are doing any rapids it's a must cause rocks and heads don't mix

Thoughts on inflatable PFDs? No storage, but they are pretty slim, comfortable, and don't impede on casting or anything...
I like having the pockets tbh plus having to worry about refill just isn't worth it. Just my opinion though!
Same as Paul said. I need my gear storage

Those titanium scissors cut amazing… downfall, the finger loops melted😂
great job guys!
I have the googan squad scale it's awesome.... Googan has a kit scissors scale and pliers for like 40 bucks
Thats a good value!
Totally agree on Gatorade idea lmao ! Done that ! And yes no toilet paper on board . Thanks for the video ! What crate would you suggest? Thanks
The yak attack blackpack, hobie h crate or wilderness systems are all top tier but pricey. Can’t go wrong with a nice basic crate either

Is Paul actually wearing a shirt with a hood? LOL!
Hard to believe
Got eem
how about sun block and bug spray! lol great video!
A given!

Why did you guys not use your anchors?
We did lol

Whats the name of that anchor?@@aaanglers

Isnt the crocks super slippery i seem to remember they are i always wear socks with flip flops that get stored away once on the kayak stops sunburn
They can be on the boat ramp.

COOLER, Key thing, Zip latch etc... LOCKABLE,... so, if and WHEN you tip, it stays closed. (floats and NOT LOOSE EVERYTHING INSIDE.)
A large insulated grocery bag with a bag of ice in it as a catch bag.
I’m late but I made it.

For sure! We also both have a minimalist kayak with no accessories. We can do both. The big rig is for different purposes. It’s just a preference.
