@backplommer If you want to use a tube amp with the Gt-10 I would suggest going into the front of the amp using the clean channel and use the stomps inside of the GT-10 for distortion or you can use other distortion boxes. If you want to use your amps distortion then you might want to connect using the 4 cable method. I did a video on that.
Yes I believe you can do this. This would be done using the ASSIGNS like I show in the video. make sure the switch on the FS-6 is set to toggle and not moment.
You have to use a Send/Return cable and plug into the Sub CTL jack. The FS6 has to be set on Latch Mode and the GT source mode has to be set on Momentary.
Glenn: I have been driving myself nuts trying to figure this out for my leads. Up until now, I would step on a different patch altogether. when I go into a lead. Now with one push of a pedal give it a little boost and add some delay and voila!! Thanks for all the cool info you provide for the equipment you use. I'm really enjoying my K4 also. You're the best! Mike
Thanks for making this - I never realised you could assign the ctrl pedals to do more than one thing at a time :P I just set my gt-10 up using the 4cm with my amp and programmed the ctrl2 pedal to switch off the preamp model and turn on my own amps preamp, really handy!
Glenn, This was VERY helpful. You are indeed a very big blessing to the GT-10 User base. Thank you very much. I've been waiting to figure out how to use my 2 controllers. Didn't realize you could have 8 assigns per switch. Very powerful feature. Mark
Why the CTL2 LED turn on when you hit CTL3 (4:00)? I'm asking that becease I trying to get the CTL1 & CTL2 led turn on when I hit them... But the led do not turn on... All the assign are working (chorus on, flange on, Delay on...) but no light on the CTL pedal :(
Glenn, just wanted to take the time to thank you, once again, for the help with the ASSIGNS function. You made everything crystal clear. I'm using the FS-FU pedal for boost, for live playing and it is the BOMB! Thanks again, my friend!!! Oh yeah, love Zeppelin excerpts. What a voice!! Is there anything you can't do?? Scott
Yes, my guitar is plugged into the TS and then into the input of the GT-10. Have you tried putting the TS in the FX loop of the GT-10?? that might work for you.
Yes the GT-10's are much cheaper now. I was using it up until July of last year so the tones are there. There are many improvements in thew GT-100, too many to list here. Mainly the tone is better.
@scaflan2000 5L is latching, means it is ON when you stomped on it, and you have to stomp on it again to turn it OFF. 5U is Unlatching, means momentary ON. 5L can operate without batteries. 5Us are better in my experience.. You wont have to worry if the switch is on or off when you change patch.
Hit the "write" button and turn the wheel to "Initialize patch". That will erase that particular patch and make it as a new, fresh patch with nothing on it.
Nice Glenn!!!! Your playing is always inspiring!! I'm trying to learn the GT 10 and your vids are very helpful....this one I will have to review a few times to get the hang of what your doing exactly, but at least I have a lead in to start! If I was able to mess with it more, things might progress quicker, but I'm a weekend warrior due to my work and such...... Thanks for all your help man and most of all, KEEP ROCKIN!!!!!
@backplommer The GT-10 should switch the channels for you. It has a channel switch jack on the back of the GT-10. Have you tried that?? Is it the Rockerverb 50 you have??
Oh yeah, most of my patches in my regular GT-10 bundle do this. Although in my patches i have them assigned to CTL3 not CTL1 cos' i have the extra FS-5U pedals. Silly question, you did turn the assign On right??
@extremevideopro but there should be a way to turning on wah wah and pedal bend on the same patch. something like : CTL 1 turns on wah wah CTL2 turns of wah wah and turns on pedal bend. I wanted to do this because while playing you can hear a small pause when you change patches or banks.
Great vid, Glenn! You're the man! I miss this control possibilities from GT... Let me ask you: Are you using a HC to enhance your sound? Are you using preamps from the GT or only from the great Traynor? Thanks again, your videos keep inspiring me!...
Hi Glenn first of all great videos. Just want to know your take on the DS/OD GT-10 as some people are saying not use them as it is pad. Also, can you show how your cables are connected between the GT-10 and your external effects. Thanks more power.
Saw your amazing vids and they were a major factor in me deciding to get a JVM205H (with 4x12 greenies) and the GT10. Great switching capabilites. Thank you. Got ctrl 2 set to trigger the Tuner. Problem: cannot get ctrl 1 to trigger a clean boost - I've been over your video and the manual (gibberish) several times - cant' figure out the assigns. I must be thick. Any help much appreciated.
My pleasure - thank you for all the work you've done - hope the e-tailing is making worth your while. Jsut so i am clear - is it correct that for the assigns to work I need 1) assigns set and 2) PDL/FX CTL1 to match the first effect in the assign? Cheers.
hi glen, thanks for all your vids extremely helpful, 1 quik question, what settings do you use on the amplifier you connect the gt 10 into with just a 1 cable method ie, straight into amp input, i have a orange rocker 50 combo, sound doesnt seem to be as powerful as guitar straight in, do you still use clean and crunch channels, hope you [ or anyone]can help
Thank you very much for the quick reply. In assigns i set the Target to OD and Type; On and Off to a variety of OD options including Clean Boost ... but when i operate the Ctrl1 there is no effect at all. I know it's hard to tell what I'm doing wrong ... is there a patch with Cln Boost I can copy - presets or one of yours - happy to buy :)
Amazing as always Glenn , ordered those cool stickers for the gt 100 some days ago , and today i've received my new gt 100, and must admit it's really easy to program compared to the gt 10. I have a question for you, as you have the experience and probably already tested this out, on the gt 100 manual i've read that you can't use both an exp/fv pedal like the FV-500 and also and extra control pedal like the FS-5U, is that true becouse i've got an FS-5U, but any fv so b4 ordering want to know ThX
Hi Glenn, Great Vids and you're a very talented young man. I was thinking about downloading your GT-10 patches but would like to know if I could get a list of what the patches are? I know you have some of them listed but would it be possible to get the whole list of 72 patches? Names, etc.. Thanks...
thanks again glen for advice, i used the 4 cable method and i get good volume out of orange but none of the amps controls work, ie, you cant switch channels or adjust amp volume or gain etc, any idea why?, thanks again
@extremevideopro i did but still cannot figure out the settings.. it can be clearly heared that this dude in the video did an awesome job. throughout the song there overlapings with distorsion and phaser but those 2 are pretty easy to figure out..
Hey Glenn, I really enjoy your videos and they have been helpful, even the patches. A quick question though regarding tone on the GT 10. What do you recommend setting the main tone levels to (low, mid, & high)? I plug my GT 10 direct into the sound board and I use the direct settings. I am always looking for the perfect tone when we play out live. Finally for distortion levels, where do you recommend the drive be set to. I know it's subjective but I figured I'd ask! Thanks!
Thank you for another great tutorial Glenn. It is also great to know that you didn't abandon your X3 live. Will you posting any tutorials or demos for X3 live any time soon? I think It has been while :)
Hello glenn,I ended up buying the gt 10,I bought the line 6 hd500x and didn't like the tone to be honest, I like the gt10 much better,I had a boss eband js 8 last year and loved it.im interested in your patches and what you think of the gt10 now years later
Thanks but price is a factor since this is not the latest and greatest it is also quite a bit less wallet drain but still I think quite a pedal. What do you think are the major improvements with the gt100
Hi Glenn very helpful video, I used to do some assigns in the past with no problem, but now, I dont know why, I assign ctrl 3 (OD on off) and ctrl4 (EQ on off) the problem is that both ctrl 3 and ctrl 4 do the same!!! I enter to de assigns and the menu appears the original assings!!! WTF! Tks for your kind reply
absolutely amazing video! I cant thank you enough! what a helpful well done video, hte best out there. i just bought the unit and find it difficult as the manual sucks
not related to this video, but wondering if you can answer me this.. when switching patches, is there an easier way rather than kicking the bank button then selecting the corresponding number? a way to set it so that when you hit the bank button, it shows all the patches rather than in groups of four? or... why is it that when you hit the bank button, then hit the corresponding number, the number stays lit... to me it interferes with the functionality of the specific patch? anybody? thanks!
hey i need some help here. I want to learn how to do something like this : ctl1 turns wah wah on/off, and i want to make ctl 2 to turn pedal bend on/of, is this even possible being on the same patch?
Do you know why when I plug my overdrive pedal into the GT-10 and try to use the built-in wah that the wah seems to revert back to the original tone of the GT-10 rather than working on the overdrive pedal's tone? Is it like a setting or am I plugging into the wrong jacks or something?
hmm...I see.I've also heard that about the X3.I guess i'll just have to test them a lot before buying. Thanks for your help Glenn! And keep up the good work!! :)
@extremevideopro hi glen, thanks for all your help and vids,my amp is rockerverb 50 combo, and ive fiddled for hours but the only way i can get it to work cleanly without probs is to only add effects from gt10 no pre amp , but now is great with so many effects to play with, thanks again
Hey Glenn just a question... wich is the diference between the 4 cable met. and go direct from de GT-10 output to the RETURN of the amp? (using only the poweramp)
How do you delete specific user patches on the gt 10? I bought it used from someone and although there are many sounds i'd like to keep there are some i can do without.
Hi there... I've been using GT10 for almost 2 years, I connected my GT10 to my other PC, and I tried playing a backing track so I could practice my lead, but I get a LAG in my Media Player. (the music stops for a fraction of a second then play again) I've been doing it on my old 1.6ghz Atom PC without a problem. I don't understand what happened coz this other PC has way better specs than my atom PC. I am running windows7 on both PC
hi sir..i just bought a boss fs-6 last week for my gt-10...im just wondering if can set my fs-6 to TAP delay..my current fx on my gt 10- control 1 is a tremolo and the control 2 is delay (on/off)..i would like to set my fs 6 control 3 to TAP delay and the control 4 to ON/OFF Loop..is it possible...?tnk you for your time and comments in advance...Godbless...!...:)
Hi. can someone HELP ME please. I bought a GT-10 recently and cant get rid of the slight hiss i hear. and have done some research and seems to be the issue with all GT-10's. its not really a fault....more if an unavoidable thing. but when i hear people's recordings on youtube...its so clear. that hiss is not there. So far i have heard that to get rid of the hiss it needs to be grounded/earthed. is there any other way of getting rid of the excess electric charge? some sort of smart power box?
Hi Glenn, if you weren't using the Tubescreamer as CTRL 3 & 4, where would you put it in the chain, before or after the GT-10? And which do you prefer the TS808 or TS9?
Glenn, thank you for the heads-up on the "Using the Assigns" video. I've been experimenting per your instructions, with great results, and the video absolutely makes this process so much clearer. Can't thank you enough! I'll be watching it over and over, so that it really sinks in. Also, is that "MESA GRINDER" patch (U7-3) new? Or is it is among your existing patch downloads? That is a great sound. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this!! Scott
Hi Glenn, how are you? I have one question. I have a GT 10 and I want to buy a Fulltone OCD and a Satchurator pedals and use the Boss for the delays, reverb and other effectes.. my question is if the Boss affects the analog pedals sound, can you put it in true bypass? What do you recomend me, buy or not the external pedals? Do I have to sell the GT 10! Thank you very much for your answer!!
Hi Juan, those pedals should work well with the GT-10 if you put them in the FX loop of the GT-10. I would get the Satchurator first and try that one. I had that one in my GT-10 loop for a while.
Well the Wah would go in between your guitar and the GT-10 input. The overdrive pedal could go in the Send/Return FX loop of the GT-10. No assigns needed for any of that.
Hi Glenn. I started using an FS into ctrl 3&4 on my GT10 to operate the tuner. However, every now and then the tuner comes on all on its own while I'm playing! Can you help me? Thanks!
***** Mine's brand new and both the latching and non latching pedals were doing the same thing. Me thinks that the micro switches are reacting (vibrating) to low frequencies when I'm playing loud is my first guess but I don't how I would decrease it's sensitivity.. thanks for the reply!
Hi, Glenn, for a player who wants good distorted metal sounds in the style of metallica, slayer, korn, disturbed etc. which is the best choice? GT-10 or X3 Live? i'm not very much into effects, my main concern is good heavy and warm distortion..thanks!!
@extremevideopro howsoever, Glenn, thanks a lot for your patience. maybe I will have some questions furthermore.. Nice to know that you can actually rely on someone on youtube. Greetings from Serbia!
John, I find that the OD/DS stomps in the GT-10 are very useable hitting the front of any amp. For my external FX I hook the up the FX loop of the GT
Yes for that you would use the clean channel of your amp.
Well you would do that in the assigns and set CTL 1 to turn on OD. Select the Clean boost as the OD
Yes That's true. You may however try using a Send/Return cable and using 1 FS5U for CTL3 and the FV500 would be CTL4. That might work.
Glenn:
I have been driving myself nuts trying to figure this out for my leads. Up until now, I would step on a different patch altogether. when I go into a lead. Now with one push of a pedal give it a little boost and add some delay and voila!! Thanks for all the cool info you provide for the equipment you use. I'm really enjoying my K4 also. You're the best!
Mike
Should be available now. They are trickling into the US now. getting mine tomorrow. Demos to come!!
@yakim1 That can be changed inside of the Gt-10 from momentary to toggle
Well yes you can change the Bass , Middle & High on preamp B. These can be different from Preamp A.
Try turning down the effect level and turning up the direct level in the wah settings.
If you like the sound of your tube amps distortion you might try the 4 cable method. Do a search in my video for that one.
@userpipe I use a standard Send/Return cable from HOSA
Thanks for making this - I never realised you could assign the ctrl pedals to do more than one thing at a time :P
I just set my gt-10 up using the 4cm with my amp and programmed the ctrl2 pedal to switch off the preamp model and turn on my own amps preamp, really handy!
Thank you Mark for your support.
Glenn,
This was VERY helpful. You are indeed a very big blessing to the GT-10 User base. Thank you very much.
I've been waiting to figure out how to use my 2 controllers. Didn't realize you could have 8 assigns per switch. Very powerful feature.
Mark
I would put it before the GT-10. I never had an 808 so I can't say which one I prefer but I like the TS9

Oh yeah, love Zeppelin excerpts. What a voice!! Is there anything you can't do??
Scott
I'm just connected straight into the front of the amp and the EQ is set flat.
@userpipe Rondo Music. Model # CNB-PDC 4100G
Yes, my guitar is plugged into the TS and then into the input of the GT-10. Have you tried putting the TS in the FX loop of the GT-10?? that might work for you.

@itaybryt Hi, unfortunately I don't have to G-System anymore. BUT, NEW GT-100 video coming soon.
This is a great tute for making assigns clearer. Thanks!
By "Variable" do you mean can it be moved around in the chain? YES it can and it has lots of level controls as well.
@a1272 Well I wish I could help you out man. If I had that patch you sure would be welcome to it.
The key is to turn the Wah level down to about 40 and turn the direct level up to about 60.
Hit the "write" button and turn the wheel to "Initialize patch". That will erase that particular patch and make it as a new, fresh patch with nothing on it.
That's a very useful nugget. Thanks!
@a1272 wow man that some weird sounds!! Have you tried the ring modulator yet??
Yes that is correct
Oh yeah, most of my patches in my regular GT-10 bundle do this. Although in my patches i have them assigned to CTL3 not CTL1 cos' i have the extra FS-5U pedals. Silly question, you did turn the assign On right??
Very soon, if you have not already please subscribe to my channel so you will be notified when I put it up.
Yes the GT-10 has at least 7 assigns I believe.
@LionHeartPortugues Id just try buying an inexpensive wah pedal like a crybaby and put it in the effects loop of the amp or the GT-10
Thanks again, your videos keep inspiring me!...
hi glenn im a big fan of your videos, i want to know if you are planning to upload some more videos of g-system and more of its features ?
You ought to wait till I get the new GT-100 and do my review and make your decision then.
Hi Glenn first of all great videos. Just want to know your take on the DS/OD GT-10 as some people are saying not use them as it is pad. Also, can you show how your cables are connected between the GT-10 and your external effects. Thanks more power.
Yes I'd like to read it Thanks
Saw your amazing vids and they were a major factor in me deciding to get a JVM205H (with 4x12 greenies) and the GT10. Great switching capabilites. Thank you. Got ctrl 2 set to trigger the Tuner. Thats a great video Glenn. Thanks ....Keep posting these- please!
hi glen, thanks for all your vids extremely helpful, 1 quik question, what settings do you use on the amplifier you connect the gt 10 into with just a 1 cable method ie, straight into amp input, i have a orange rocker 50 combo, sound doesnt seem to be as powerful as guitar straight in, do you still use clean and crunch channels, hope you [ or anyone]can help
@a1272 Try contacting this guy. Maybe he would be kind enuff' to share his settings.

Hi Glenn,
Great Vids and you're a very talented young man.
I was thinking about downloading your GT-10 patches but would like to know if I could get a list of what the patches are? I know you have some of them listed but would it be possible to get the whole list of 72 patches? Names, etc..

Thanks!
So the (assign) is what is used say for putting a desired effect or a combo of effects on say pedals 1,2,3,4?
Thank you for another great tutorial Glenn. It is also great to know that you didn't abandon your X3 live. Will you posting any tutorials or demos for X3 live any time soon? I think It has been while :)
Right but, connecting the GT-10 output to the RETURN of the amp bypass the preamp too, so, wich is better? 4CM or go directly to the RETURN jack?
man you are a legend! gonna get me some of those external ctrl pedals!
How to set the CTL 3 and 4 to do the same thing as CTL 1 and 2 on a global setting ?
Actually this is the old one. You should look for the new GT-100. It's better in my opinion. Many others agree too.
Does anyone know how to assign one of the control buttons as a solo / volume boost??
Hi Glenn very helpful video, I used to do some assigns in the past with no problem, but now, I dont know why, I assign ctrl 3 (OD on off) and ctrl4 (EQ on off) the problem is that both ctrl 3 and ctrl 4 do the same!!! I enter to de assigns and the menu appears the original assings!!! WTF!

BTW, very nice this turturial 5*
hmm...I see.I've also heard that about the X3.I guess i'll just have to test them a lot before buying. Thanks for your help Glenn! And keep up the good work!! :)
Hi Glenn... just want to know how you chain the analog pedal to your Boss gt10?
@extremevideopro hi glen, thanks for all your help and vids,my amp is rockerverb 50 combo, and ive fiddled for hours but the only way i can get it to work cleanly without probs is to only add effects from gt10 no pre amp , but now is great with so many effects to play with, thanks again

Hey Glenn just a question... wich is the diference between the 4 cable met. and go direct from de GT-10 output to the RETURN of the amp? (using only the poweramp)
Hi, can I transfer your setups to mine using the USB feature?
Please, let me know.
Thanks!
How do you delete specific user patches on the gt 10? I bought it used from someone and although there are many sounds i'd like to keep there are some i can do without.
HI Glenn, probably this one was answered a long time ago, but, how are you connected to the amp? into Return? to the main input? Tks
@extremevideopro but which way is better???
mostly on stage and rehearsing with the band..which is the best?and would you suggest using it with an amp or direct into the console?
thank you!
Hi there... I've been using GT10 for almost 2 years, I connected my GT10 to my other PC, and I tried playing a backing track so I could practice my lead, but I get a LAG in my Media Player. Nice sound. What amp are you using there?
hi sir..i just bought a boss fs-6 last week for my gt-10...im just wondering if can set my fs-6 to TAP delay..my current fx on my gt 10- control 1 is a tremolo and the control 2 is delay (on/off)..i would like to set my fs 6 control 3 to TAP delay and the control 4 to ON/OFF Loop..is it possible...?tnk you for your time and comments in advance...Godbless...!...:)
How do you add multiple control pedals...there is only one connection at the back of the GT10?
You can connect either an FS6 or two FS5Us with a splitter cable.
and what are the settings (bass, mid, treble) ?
Hi. can someone HELP ME please. I bought a GT-10 recently and cant get rid of the slight hiss i hear. and have done some research and seems to be the issue with all GT-10's. its not really a fault....more if an unavoidable thing. but when i hear people's recordings on youtube...its so clear. that hiss is not there. By the way 1 second in I liked your playing

How exactly do you wire your tube screamer into the Gt-10? Do you just go through the input?
what is the best way to assign a line 6 verbzilla pedal ( shimmer effect ) ( on/off )while playing u2 songs
Thanks in advance,
Neil
hi glen, how did you plug in 2 fs 5u pedals? the gt-10 only has one jack for ctrl 3/4, how did use seperarte pedals? cheers :)
Thank you Glenn!!!
Well the Wah would go in between your guitar and the GT-10 input. The overdrive pedal could go in the Send/Return FX loop of the GT-10. No assigns needed for any of that.
Hi glenn, nice set up, can you give details on the case you’re using, like what size? And case material? Thanks great vid.

thanks, Im experimenting using the assigns... you rulz!!!
Hi Glenn. I started using an FS into ctrl 3&4 on my GT10 to operate the tuner. However, every now and then the tuner comes on all on its own while I'm playing! Can you help me? Thanks!
Yes mine was doing the same exact thing after a couple years. I have since switched to the FS-6 and have had no problems.

Mine's brand new and both the latching and non latching pedals were doing the same thing. Me thinks that the micro switches are reacting (vibrating) to low frequencies when I'm playing loud is my first guess but I don't how I would decrease it's sensitivity.. thanks for the reply!
I can't use my fs6 with gr10can u plz help me. I did assign too bt doesn't work. Can u plz show me how to do from beginning .. Thanks
