Your discussion about having something viable for west coast fishermen to advance to higher levels must have burned BASS ears! Great discussion that was/is full of bass industry information!
You, Trait & Charles continue to Crush it, Chris! Bravo and Congrats on a monster 6th place finish at WON Open! Send my thanks to your grandpa for his service and sharpness. From one Veteran to another.
I live local to Josh and he is a straight up class act! He takes time to talk at the ramp and he says hello to everyone! Great guy and I love seeing him at the same lakes I am at cuz I feel we are chasing the same bite!! Great Podcast lady and fellas 💯
first, Josh is hands down one of the nicest, coolest, polite and humble fisherman ive ever met. every angler could only aspire to be the kind of angle/person he is. second, heard skeet was at the registration/HOF induction at the open. would be interesting to see him on the podcast. especially after hearing about yours and his blowout over the split....
During the split he called me “the cancer keeping bassmaster together” only a few weeks after my Mom had passed away from cancer. It’s been 5 years but…
@@Zaldaingerous WOW, that speaks volumes. reminds me of a quote: Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing
Another great podcast! I love all your videos, but something about these podcasts add a level of honesty and entertainment that we just don’t get from other fishing videos. It also becomes clearer with each new podcast I see, that you definitely married up! Lol Seriously though, you are living the dream in our view from the cheap seats, with not only your fishing and hunting, but also finding a wife that enjoys what you do and is very intelligent on top of it. You sir, are a very lucky man and the way you embrace it all and don’t take it for granted is very refreshing in this day and age. Keep up the excellent work Chris!
Chris and Trait…thank you for your content…👏👏👏 Serious question…how many conversations are happening in living rooms or RV’s like this conversation? Thanks again!!!
Great Podcast! Josh is an awesome angler and an even better person. Would like to see a whole division of BASS Opens on the West Coast to try and draw in those west coast anglers. It would showcase the lakes and give the west coast guys notoriety. It could be a Texas, Arizona, and California division.
There has to be a Classic or Redcrest out West planned soon......think of the eyeballs that would be on that organization to do it first moving forward......
Probably a big majority of people out west can’t afford bass fishing at pro level. My home lake is Chickamauga and I still enjoy watching tournaments out west.
Great podcast. BASS could grow the West. They just don’t have Ray Scott’s grit. Partner with WON offering multiple Elite births and commit to a West Coast swing every 5 years. Build clubs a BASS playbook for growth. Its a system… a plan. Its not about gas prices and other excuses. Its about zero plan by BASS to grow.
I can speak for my experience here in Utah. Our fisheries/DWR do not support managing our lakes for bass fishing. They push a ton of trout and other species and bass are just not one . We are hosting tournaments where first place is 5-6lbs. We just don’t have enough good lakes to spark interest of anglers to want to compete. If we had lakes managed for bass it would definitely spark interest and get more people competing.
Every entertainment industry is down right now because they aren't necessary as you mentioned, not surprised to see fishing being down. Going to get worse before it gets better. Hang in there and follow your dreams!
Hey you guys never mention Washington state bass fishing is huge here.... HUGE.... and Idaho... we have some of the best small mouth fishing in the nation....
You guys never talk about bass fishing internationally and how the internationals view bass fishing in the US. I live in a desert country - Namibia - and I would LOVE to see more bass fishing out west in the US, which compares to my own fishing. Mexico, Portugal, southern Italy, Sicily, Croatia … those are all semi arid countries that fish for bass in their home countries, and I am sure they would also like to see more dry climate bass angling tournaments.
You guys should track down Michael Bennet for a bilge podcast. Here's a guy who walked away from a stellar career, apparently, because he wasn't willing to self fund his fishing and didn't get a team deal? I'm not sure where he's at, but it might be interesting to hear what his thoughts are on the state of professional fishing. (Or not)lol just a thought
When talking about profits made by a bass tournament fisherman, .. most of the costs incurred from fuel for travel, purchase of a tow vehicle, purchase of a fully equipped bass boat, lodging, entry fees, tackle, etc can be written off with deductions from their income taxes. You can bet the IRS may want to take a close look at those deductions so it's definitely not a great area to fudge with those deductions.
Don’t know about the other west ponds but I do know that Cali is to many restrictions and prices are ridiculous in USSR Cali. I also heard another pro say that when the tournaments show up no one shows up to the show. Would love to see everywhere but Cali get a Derby.
Fishing pro has similarities to poker, gambling. Everyone is putting into the pot and winnings taking out of the pot. How much is the tournament organizer putting in??
Its hot every year in Az lol. Lived there 7 years. Some yrs hotter than others. But no matter what its always hot and ever since social media people post how hot it is. Justlike where i live in North dakota now. They post that its cold.

Bass fishing isn’t dead in the west we just have no outlet to get further out here other than MLF. California is not the best fishing anymore either. Come up north to Washington state and Idaho. We have plenty of big lakes and massive rivers that crank out big bags. You aren’t gonna catch a double digit bass but you can catch lots of 5plus pounders. Wild West screwed us all. American Bass is trying here. Limit Out Marine also is trying to make stuff happen for us out here same with Northwest Bass. Arizona is not the west coast Won bass bailed on the PNW they were going to have an open up here on Potholes but couldn’t secure the money they wanted. Boats are more expensive out here gas is more money literally everything out west costs more. Rent and mortgage payments are more. Look at all of the guys who started out west you all bailed and moved to Alabama and Texas you even said it yourself so you guys aren’t exactly helping the cause by leaving. Sponsors are not sending money out west to the tournaments that are happening out here. Bass fishing is very alive in the west we are just being left out by the good ole boys from the east and all the excuses as to why we can’t make it happen out here. Plain and simple the leagues don’t wanna come out here that is it and they also don’t want to see another league out here because that would take away from what they have going on. The west coast anglers are all very very good anglers and can fish any way. Everyone out here has forward facing and of you don’t you’re behind. Lots of derby’s out here are won using it and some aren’t just like everywhere else. We do stuff out here that the guys back east don’t do. The money and the opportunities just are not out here and the cost of living out here just doesn’t allow to make it happen. In my opinion as an avid tournament fisherman who fishes as many tournaments as I can from March till November and lives in the Pacific Northwest. Love all your podcasts please keep trying to get us exposure out west !
Market is flooded with conpetition now days look how many rilod makers there is there spread out now days and it's not getting any cheaper for the companies to operate either and I know a big part of the problem it has to do with a certain potato lol
It's not necessary for Trait to comment about how "weird the podcast is going". She can just not mention it and steer it away from that direction. It doesn't seem weird until she grinds everything to a halt by making a big deal out of it. Just my two cents.
Chris was several beers in before we started the pod. I love my husband dearly but it’s the only way to bring it to his attention to try to bring it back. People can hate my technique but it’s all I know to do to quickly get it back. Otherwise I’ll spend the whole episode talking over people. -trait
2 things. Does the concept z3 have a 300 sized spool. And also viewership could be in part people not willing to subscribe to an expensive TV channel just to watch. I'll always watch the free way via you tube lol.

I'm not a fan of a union but bass fishing needs one. Make BASS and MLF open those books up.
Working blue class cant show up on a tue or wed and be out the rest of that week!!! Won pro ams did well across the three states

How are we behind in the west? Literally every bass boat on clear lake is live scope!
Having livescope and using it at a high level are two different things. The last two US Opens shed some light on it
