Congratulations on the explanatory video! I see the size of this flexvolt battery, I think it would be much better if it had a strap to accommodate it. And for the connection with the tool, an electrical cable with the adapter attached to the tool would be used to greatly minimize fatigue.
I mean I wouldn't actually use the 15aH on an impact driver in daily use, it was more just for fun -- definitely necessary on their 20" chainsaw and bigger stuff like that though.
@@PhillyFixed I stopped buying Strap-On. I have s Strap-On tool box, off set wrenches and a 14.4 and 18 volt impact that is grossly weak. I got the 1/2 Atomic impact drivers and wrenches. They kill Strap-On. The Atlantic impact wrench I've used to pull transmissions our of big rigs. I also got my wife one with a 5 Amp battery incase she has a flat. Incase I can't get to her fast. The Atomic impact drivers is great for valve covers. I wouldn't change a tire with the impact driver but I did test it and it did torque to 100 ft lbs easy . I went back and hit the one wheel I tested with my 1/2 Atomic even though the lugs were OK. My truck lugs torque at 100 to 110 ft lbs. I was surprised the Atomic impact drivers took the lugs off like butter.
Here is what I want to see. A 15ah flex volt × 4 with an dewalt 1800watt battery station inverter running a refrigerator. Wat to see how long it works for. Also with a TV and what ever someone has for cable tv or dish or directTV. Curious to what i can really do.
18650s were expected in the 15ah, because 5ah is 2 rows of 5 such cells, then you need 3 of those in paralell to get to 15ah, and the same 3 groups in series to get 60 volts. No disassembly required, myself and mr Spock will deduce it instantly to an accuracy of 99.9999872%.
I would love to see someone use the 15ah at work on that 850. Would be classic. Regardless of being slightly behind I prefer the powerstack. They are super light small and don't really loose any power. I use on my 998 all the time over the 8ah
The Powerstack is 1.7aH so it won't last as long as a 5aH. Not sure what you mean by 18v -- outside the United States, DeWalt's tools and batteries are labeled "18V" rather than "20V Max" but they are the same. Is that what you mean?
I was really excited about the power stack, because weight is a big factor for me. They need to go back to the drawing board. Guess I will stick with the standard 2 and 4ah batteries.
@@shanepipkin4041 Gotta agree with Dave here, nothing he said was incorrect. I have old Makita 18650 packs that are old enough to pre-date the fuel gauge, they are still working great. That being said, 21700's have their place 👍
The amp-hours rating is a measure of overall battery capacity and runtime. However, larger capacity batteries tend to have 2 or 3 rows of cells in parallel, and that increases the pack's maximum current output. So indirectly, larger Ah batteries tend to have higher output. In this vid, though, all of the extra 18650 cells still couldn't surpass a single row of 21700 cells in the 4ah pack. Voltage can make a difference, but in practice I've not seen where 24V tools (Flex, Kobalt) have much of an advantage over 18V/20VMax tools just by virtue of the voltage.
First let’s recognize that intro! Inspired editing to match up the ID4 devastation with that dramatic soundtrack. Now, my real question is, why on earth would these two batteries be developed and released at essentially the same time? If you have cracked the code on the smaller, lighter, stronger, faster, and more long lasting, why then develop a battery that goes from a flexvolt brick to a cinder block?
Finally a comparison between the 4ah slim and the powerstack. Every other advertisement / paid review basically tried so hard to avoid the 4ah and only put it up against the 2ah. Granted, this is still early tech and I hope to see it improve further
Good luck getting a 15amp hour battery. These things are supposedly back ordered 3-5 weeks and that’s “subject to change.” I’m personally not interested in letting some company I don’t know hang on to 380 bucks for an undetermined amount of time.
The 840 is a better tool than the 850. You can get the 840 with 2 batteries and a bag right now for $120 at Lowes. The new 845 is $60 more for a bare tool and about as good as the 850.
5:50; While DeWalt appears to be making huge strides in battery technology…I guess the same can not be said for solutions to keep your hands warm in a cold Pilly garage? Dare I say it? Been caught…..Red Handed? (Yeah….I said it.)
You're definitely not a highschool math graduate if you don't understand that where the 15Ah battery excels is how many of those 1/2"x10" lag bolts can be driven on a single charge compared to your other examples. 15Ah batteries are marketed for an actual construction worksite advantage of needing less spare batteries, extension cords, generator outlets and chargers for each driver when you're packing the trailer in the morning and staying on task instead of the laborer finding a valid excuse to leave the task to get another battery and cup of coffee and Dunkin donut.

Ciao, se ho tradotto correttamente la tua domanda, sì, puoi utilizzare batterie Flexvolt da 54 V su strumenti Dewalt da 18 V, incluso il 796.
1:50 Blessed be the berrelgrip!
Booo
I've been enjoying the frequent collaborations between the tool enthusiast channels as of late, a la breadtubers and maker channels, but it is my sincere hope that VCG continues to not be included. I'm sure others are on the same page as me there.
That power stack was surprisingly weak.
Selling ploy
Love the harbor freight adapter he uses on the impacts.
Hey, if it works, it works! Of course the magnet falls out first use...
@@PhillyFixed I use them.... wasn't criticism
@@PhillyFixed most of my sockets are Pittsburgh. I won't buy harbor freight power tools or jack stands.
Another great video!
Here is what I want to see. A 15ah flex volt × 4 with an dewalt 1800watt battery station inverter running a refrigerator. Wat to see how long it works for. Also with a TV and what ever someone has for cable tv or dish or directTV. Curious to what i can really do.
They should make an attachment for the battery, so it can then be used as a sledge hammer.
Fuck it, I'm putting a Tesla power wall on my impact driver
🤣
Can't wait for a power flex battery
18650s were expected in the 15ah, because 5ah is 2 rows of 5 such cells, then you need 3 of those in paralell to get to 15ah, and the same 3 groups in series to get 60 volts. No disassembly required, myself and mr Spock will deduce it instantly to an accuracy of 99.9999872%.
😅 Perfectly logical, captian!
I like the DCF840
Very good Bang for Buck... Impact drill..
Wow 👌...awesome power testing ,love my dewalt ..can't wait till they make the power stacker equivalent to the 15 ah flexvolt less the huge size
Great video
So glad I held out...I'll be using the 4ah batteries...no sense getting something new that doesn't perform better.
that 15ah battery is commically large when on that impact driver
How much heavier is that 15h?
The 15ah weighs 4-1/2 lbs, the Powerstack weighs around 11 ounces. Huge difference!
Amazing 🤩 video
If you're driving those lag bolts you probably should really use a 1/2 inch impact
Yup. And not a 15ah battery 😅
How many cuts on a flex voltage 12" miter saw using 2×15 volt batteries.
Not sure, I don't have that saw available to me unfortunately.
I would love to see someone use the 15ah at work on that 850. Would be classic. Regardless of being slightly behind I prefer the powerstack. They are super light small and don't really loose any power. I use on my 998 all the time over the 8ah
Hello, Does the power stack last as long as the 18V and 5Ah one?thank you
The Powerstack is 1.7aH so it won't last as long as a 5aH.
Well it's definitely better than the standard 2aH, which has 18650 cells. More vids to come
@@PhillyFixed Once the price drops, I will definitely get one to try out. Over $100 a battery is too rich for my blood.
Why is barrel grip garbage? I feel singled out. 🙁
18650 for life! They work, they're dependable, and lighter weight than 21700. Mic drop.
not true
@@shanepipkin4041 enlighten us
@@shanepipkin4041 Gotta agree with Dave here, nothing he said was incorrect. I have old Makita 18650 packs that are old enough to pre-date the fuel gauge, they are still working great. That being said, 21700's have their place 👍
The 840 is King!!
I always voltage makes/dictates the power with amperage just increasing run time?
I think the 15aH is targeting outdoor power equipment and probably some forthcoming demo hammers etc. But it's fun to put a brick on a tiny tool! 😅
….and maybe now I will proceed to actually watch the video in it’s entirety to see if you may have already addressed my conundrum.
I'm just disappointed that the 15AH pack didn't put in fasteners through its weight alone.
15ah would be amazing on dewalt chopsaw!💪😁😎
The PowerStack 5.0ah is substantially BIGGER than the equivalent 20v Max 5.0ah battery...
Awesome video! The 840 is a beast! I bought two of them and one 850. But the 840 is the best impact driver made by Dewalt so far.
The 887 is the best
21700 cells should be used in all tool batteries. They're superior in most ways beside size
And price.
Honestly I don't think that it's about speed it's about who can keep moving after heavy use. Of course the 15AH is going to dominate size matters
Finally a comparison between the 4ah slim and the powerstack. Every other advertisement / paid review basically tried so hard to avoid the 4ah and only put it up against the 2ah. Granted, this is still early tech and I hope to see it improve further
To be fair, WorkshopAddict managed to post one with the 4aH before I could finish mine!
Jesus christ that flexvolt is ridiculously huge.. I've seen them before but for some reason it looks so much bigger in this video.. 😂
That 8.0 flex less amperage and still as Good as the 15 0
15aH doesn't have high output cells though 🤷♂️
Bro, we’re not watching a movie we’re watching a UA-cam video. The intro is Jesus Christ.
Joke's on you, it's a 12-minute movie about tools.
@@PhillyFixed yeah, took 3 minutes to get to test part. Jesus, can you make the video suck anymore?
Good luck getting a 15amp hour battery. These things are supposedly back ordered 3-5 weeks and that’s “subject to change.” I’m personally not interested in letting some company I don’t know hang on to 380 bucks for an undetermined amount of time.
Interesting…I’ve been seeing comparisons between the 5 and the stack with the stack being almost the same, looks like some sandbagging going on
Don't forget the slim 4aH has high-output 21700 battery cells while the 5aH has standard output 18650 cells. Thanks for watching!
The 840 is a better tool than the 850. You can get the 840 with 2 batteries and a bag right now for $120 at Lowes. The new 845 is $60 more for a bare tool and about as good as the 850.
DID YOU JUST TOUCHED A DEWALT WITH THOSE GLOVES???🤣🤣🤣 jk
Heresy!
elefantitas of the battery
5:50; While DeWalt appears to be making huge strides in battery technology…I guess the same can not be said for solutions to keep your hands warm in a cold Pilly garage?
Dare I say it? Been caught…..Red Handed?
(Yeah….I said it.)
Should have used a 5ah power stack. Kind of a dumb test. The 1.7ah power stack isn’t meant to compare to either of the other batteries.
@@lukecorson2143 the 5aH hadn't been released yet when this was published.
I’m here to watch the lags smoke 🚬. I knew I wasn’t the only one.
Something oddly satisfying about it!
Has anyone on here bought the Dewalt. DCB615. 15Ah 60-volt battery? I just got mine in and it took 4 hours to charge the first time before use. IS THAT NORMAL? I got 45-60 minutes run time. That doesn’t sound right for 15Ah/60-volt.
Do you have the yellow 8-amp fast charger? If you have one of the smaller black chargers, that charging time wouldn't surprise me.
@@PhillyFixed i have the DCB115. Its a third the size of the battery. It looks funny charging on that little thing. Maybe i should do a video on what Dewalt gives you for buying their best cordless 20” chainsaw to charge the battery that comes with it that is the size of a 2-car garage. LOL. WHAT MODEL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Maybe dewalt felt like $550.00 for a cordless chainsaw didn’t justify a good charger. Cheapskates.
Ah, yeah. You need the DCB118. They definitely shouldn't ship the DCB115 with that kit 🫤
@@PhillyFixed if we were not on youtube i would send you a picture of how silly it looks. Just imagine a ocean liner on top of a tug boat.
@@PhillyFixed yeah i think it is kind of weird and cheap to give a 12-volt charger with the 20v/60volt system.
Damn sad how great the 840 really is even though the 850 seems fancier. I bet the new xr will be an 840 with modes. That would be a real show stopper cuz dewalt has the best chuck imo.
Why would you want that big ass battery ?
The 15ah on the atomic😂
