LYRICS
Steamroller Blues - James Taylor
Well, I’m a steamroller, baby
I’m bound to roll all over you
Yes, I’m a steamroller now, baby
I’m bound to roll all over you
I’m gonna inject your soul with some sweet rock ‘n roll
And shoot you full of rhythm and blues
Well, I’m a cement mixer
A churning urn of burning funk
Yes, I’m a cement mixer for you, baby
A churning urn of burning funk
Well, I’m a d-d-demolition derby (yeah)
A hefty hunk of steaming junk
Now, I’m a love bomb, baby
Just guaranteed to blow your mind
Yeah, I’m a love bomb for you, baby
Oh, guaranteed, just guaranteed to blow your mind
And if I can’t have your love for my own (now)
Sweet child, won’t be nothing left behind
It seems how lately, baby
Well I’m a steamroller for you, baby, child

In his early 20s, James Taylor is a better guitar player than me if I was in my mid 500s!!! Wow!!! Thanks James for sharing your joyous gift!!!
No auto tune. No computer sounds. No timing software. Just a man and a guitar. Real raw absolute talent. James Taylor is one of the all time greats.
Well, he does cheat with that capo...
Absoultey! 🎶🎶
@@CoCotheTurtle If a capo is cheating then I guess most guit-artists are cheaters
You said it
Thank goodness we have you tube otherwise, my record got warped in the sun.
He is so freakin' handsome and charismatic here, I believe I swooned.
This is, by FAR, the best looking AND best sounding version of this BBC video...EVER....Thank you James!
So cute to see him so young & innocent. Who knew he was also a comedic genius?
Mitch Hedberg was influenced by him?
Woah! Loving this live - finest voice and humor, 50 years erased in one song, And - that sweater!
I almost came
ain't it grande ! Better than sugar baby ....
@@cecilphillip9071 no respect for music, with your comment,,,,
@@jojodaddyo6198 I don't know, however, I'd beleive Joni Mitchell knitted.
I saw James Taylor in November 1970 at the Berkeley Community Theater. He wore the same sweater, sat down and turned the theater into his living room! This concert takes me right back there again!!!
Saw him sing this live tonight. It was amazing.
I am jealous ! Loved him forever - I am 59 !!!!
This man is an amazing musician with one of the best voices in the business. He has battled so many personal demons and challenges that would take most mortals out, that being said he is an iconic legend.
Please explain to me why I adore him, his songwriting, and playing so much. It's been over three decades and I still adore his voice and style.
I wore out cd's; flag, many others and this past mothers day one of my sons brought me untitiled album but starts with Something in the way she moves on vinyl - I cried.I know all the songs by heart. God love you, I am not the only one who still loves him !
There's a reason why the greats are the greats. Superb.
My favourite album, Sweet Baby James, 50 years after I first bought it. Thank you, James
I would sing this when awakening my daughter, in her childhood. Always, always loved this tune...
Thank you, dear Mr. Taylor!
One of the best JT songs. Can't believe he was so young when he wrote it.
Hilarious!🤣🤣🤣 He doesn't take himself too seriously. 👍😊 One of my favorite James Taylor songs!👍🥰👏👏👏
Excellent James
I saw James in concert about 3 months after this video . It’s as if my memory is playing out when I watch this! I’ve seen him a total of 6 times, he’s the best singer, songwriter, musician there ever was!!!! Thank You 🙏 James!!!!🎸🎼✌🏼❤️✌🏼❤️😀
I think it's the first time I heard a full Acoustic version. Fantastic 👏👏👍
Thank you James. I love your song and guitar. I love your sense of humor☺
I have always wondered about the origins of this most excellent tune!! I had an old monster Norton motor cycle and nicknamed it the ' Heafty Hunk of Steamin Junk ' ! Thanks James!!! Love ya! Blue Skies!
The motorcycle of my youthful dreams ❤
Man alive...mm,mm,mm I’ve seen you perform this live twice in my life and both performances were amazing however THIS performance is nuanced and adorable and filled with “you-ness” (new word). Thanks for sharing you.
So freakin great!! Love you forever James!
As a fan I have to say thankyou to the BBC for an amazing set of recordings from 50 years ago.
Love it all..the man, the voice, the guitar playing, the dry wit 🌟
I remember playing this album to death when it came out . Stole my little teen-aged heart.
Once a great singer, always a great singer. It's amazing to see and to hearJames in the 70s. 👏👏👏💙
Sweet Baby James. Kicking it out !!!
That's our type of music. Brings back great memories of great times
Thank you
Lovin'this video! ❤️☮️ My daddy used to sing me James Taylor when I was little and always loved his music 🎶🎶. Got me hooked.
Did he have the golden voice, or what? Just a natural singer and musician.
I love this Mr Taylor! You’re the coolest of them all! 🎶
Why did it take me until 2022 to hear this.. wow 😳 i love it
Dang I just can't like or love it or comment enough then this October of 2023 oh mr. JC I'm loving you more than ever all these years
I think this is perfect. His story going into it is awesome. I love how he turns it into a funny thing. It takes the pressure off him messing up the guitar part a little bit. It's perfect showmanship. He was so ahead of everyone else on the guitar I believe. He could write a song lyrics and music in 10 to 15 minutes. Yes it wasn't refined and perfect but he had the basis of a perfect song in 15 minutes. Then him and his musician friends could critique it and perfect it. Within 2 hours, there's a song. A master at his craft. He must of ate, slept. And breathed a guitar
First you say "I think this is perfect", then you say "it wasn't refined and perfect". So, basically, you contradicted yourself.
I've always loved this song... simple, full of energy and rhythm. Thank you James
I just love the blues!!
wow that is amazing, great version of a great song. Nice James!
What a voice he has
Pick it James!! Gotta love "churning urn of burning funk" Keep 'em coming.
Parents hated it it has cuss words. I love James many moon I saw him in Phx in person for my 55th birthday. I couldnt get an autograph because I could not stand up that long. He signed autograph his WHOLE break. No one else like him !!!!
My parents claimed they couldn’t understand what they were saying in rock and roll.. Wow what they missed out on. Bless their hearts. ❤️
@@donnaj.1634 My grandkids think the same when I get going to these little ditty,s by MR TAYLOR, I,m teaching them about all the great music we had through the 60, 70, and JT is a massive part of my life,s music,ly , so my friend just remember we,v all been there. PEACE BE WITH YOU MY FRIEND.✌️✌️✌️😎😎😎🏴🏴🏴🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Thanks, James. I really enjoyed this.
If it’s possible to be both delightful and funky at the same time, well, this was it.
Cheers
Awesome video. I have the album where his version of steam roller blues has a line that includes … a Chicken that’s Chock’in, on some MF* ing blues 😂🤣🥳 👍👍👍 JT is piece of the Fabric of my Life.. Cheers from SoCal. Matthew 63yo and going strong. 🤘
Love the creative nature if this song, the wit and humor of James Taylor fused with a legit blues tune, and made perfect by his imitations , his limitations and his humility , while still trying to be the funky one. I sing this song all the time , as well as that blues that grows in the backyard of my soul.
Can I L😍VE this man anymore?!? One of my favorite jams!! ❤❤❤
Mr Taylor I was four years old when this took place, but I have been a life time fan of yours.
Always a pleasure to hear you sing and play !!
This concert is amazing. Love that you keep posting videos from it!
Oh, brings back so, so many memories! Thank you.
Best childhood memory. Thank you Baby James.
I have been able to enjoy this song my entire life ! 2021 and I'm still listening
A super fine musician, no doubt... 👏😊

OHHH James.. you are my youth!
Priceless footage. Thank you!
That voice.. When I first heard this song, um, decades ago, I knew it was special. Catchy.
James you're keeping me sane during Covid 19🙏👍
Awesome James!!!!
Grettings from Costa Rica
Pura vida with this real music
Well, other than Sweet Baby James, of course. As a fellow James, that was my lullaby as a baby. My parents neighbor who.played guitar played it for me at my first couple birthdays in 89,90, and 91.
Wow! You were so ahead of your time. Thank-you.
I love JT music! I've seen him 3 times over the years. I would love to see him again. Please come to Florida on day soon JT.
I wasnt been to 1st grade school that year `70, when it came a hit.. only when i reach High school that i loved this song at 1978. what a great he was then..
Watching this for a class but I’m not gonna hide it…..this man fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Love this so much!!! ❤️
My favorite. Thank you ❤
Great acoustic playing
Happy Friday to you. Listening to steamroller by jamestaylor
Thank god this is recorded...
No wait a minute this one this one is my absolute favorite
This is sexy. Cannot believe I never saw it before. I have heard it but never saw him perform it. I was only 11when this aired.
I like all these songs just like this. Later in his career he added a full band and they weren't the same. Still good but there's nothing like him and his guitar, alone, and hearing the sound of every note. He is a genius with words and his playing is amazing. Always loved him.
Very well. Every day I listen to this song
Pure genius. I like this so very much!
Outstanding, blued out on the big island living da dream.. Aloha
A churning urn of burning funk.
Yeah, like who could make this stuff up??? Choinin oin of boinin fuuunk.

Hey James! I was the house electrician at OKC Zoo when you played there in 90
My mother used to sing this to me ❤❤❤
Some peeps just born to entertain, thank goodness!
Just fucking awesome🤩🤩
Fabulous. Same year as Two Lane Blacktop too.
Great James, voice and guitar for a Great song ! Elvis loved It ! MV
Elvis had a smokin' performance of it, too. ua-cam.com/video/4vAuXP4hIoo/v-deo.html
James can become anything. Country Western, pop, and then effortlessly slip into The Blues. All the while making fun of what he’s doing. One of the all time great blues songs written for fun.
what a beautiful man
MISTER TAYLOR GETTING ON DOWN WITH THE BLUES, OOO YEAH. PEACE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S.✌️😎🏴
Love/Hate how he plays w it and then at the end shows you just how much he could go in if he wanted to. Unreal.
Freakin' amazing...great sense of humor.
