I'm a 68 year old grandma and grew up with this music. It is wonderful to see young people get to hear this music for the first time! My kids were raised on in, and now the grandkids. Shame on your dad for not exposing it to you earlier! We're counting on you to keep it alive!
The various guitar tones on this are so varied, sweet, and perfect. The build is primo. Truly one of rock's stellar works. Great to hear it once again with new ears. (how did I let this get by me?)
The live version at Madison Square Gardens (1973) is really amazing, anything live from there is amazing. The 3 concert nights were used in their movie, The Song Remains The Same. FYI: their long songs are epic, & most of us are sad when they end. Everything from them is amazing, most of us only have 1 or 2 songs not our favorites, & not always the same. They do several genres Rock Blues Folk Prog Rockabilly Reggae etc. The meaning is self interpreting. Thanks for your reaction, highly suggest going down the amazing Led Zeppelin rabbit hole.
You should be proud of your UK heritage. 60's 70's were the golden age of UK creative rock that changed music, and inspired music bands all over the world.
Start from the beginning and listen to their whole catalogue in chronological order. Save the live stuff for after you've heard the studio versions. This is their ultra-classic, but there's dozens more like it, and they cover every genre you can think of. Enjoy.
These guys are the GOATS!!! Whether or not they are people's favorite, they are the best at what they did!! All 4 members were the best at their respected roles. IMO anyway. Thx bro for your reaction to the GOAT ROCK N ROLL SONG.
This song is like a wormhole. It drags you in whether you want it to or not and spits you out the other side irreversibly changed into a new landscape. No one is ever the same after listening to it, the only variable is how deep it affected you.
Hi there, a new sub here to see where your journey takes you. You're off to a good start. If you're a serious and curious music listener, there is an unfathomable amount of great music from the 1960s and '70s, where lie many deep rabbit holes that will keep you busy for the rest of your life, and you will meet many interesting people on your channel. Sometimes it's good to be old. The '60s and '70s produced hundreds of great bands, many of which had members who also released great solo albums or moved on to more interesting projects as their chops matured, even into the 1980s. Turn back now or spend a lifetime investing in headphones, for the music never stops. Have fun!
This is one journey, I am ecstatic to have started. Already the music I have listened to has blown my mind, I'm constantly thinking to myself with each song 'where has this been my whole life!' I can tell already that this is a journey I will never tire of! Thank you for joining me on this path of musical enlightenment :)
If you go and search on Google "Greatest rock song of all time", this is always going to be #1. Even on stupid lists it is always number 1. It is without a doubt The Greatest Rock Song Of All Time. If not the greatest song of all time. (To me it is.)
This is a rabbit hole 🕳 you'll never regret going down fellah. Most of their songs will blow your mind - whole lotta love, ramble on, kashmir, when the levee breaks, immigrant song to name but a few
Try their songs, Kashmir, Dazed and Confused, Whole lotta love, Lemon song, Since I've been loving you, Achilles last stand. See how you like these because Thats not even scratching the surface.
Wow that's brilliant. Thanks. I've added this to my ever expanding list to check out - I'm excited to give all them a try if Stairway to Heaven is anything to go by! Thanks for the comment.
To me this is about your life journey, resisting all temptations and forging a Zen path trying to stay focused on the best way to live your life in harmony. If you make a bad decision you can correct it. Don't allow greed and the material world tempt you
Zeppelin is a rabbit hole for sure, one you'll be happy to have gone down. If you're looking for something in the rock genre that's kinda different, you might try Eight Miles High by the Byrds... both a cacophony and harmony in a smooth melody, but with a bit piercing guitar, and just all around a strange mix whose ebb & flow somehow just "works".

@@cityhonors1 thank you for the comment and sub! I'm very grateful for my dad starting me on this journey, hearing so much new music including Rush of course, has been epic!
Your listening to a song that is consistently voted greatest rock song of all time. The drummer, Jon Bonham, is considered one of rocks top drummers. Music written by the genius of Jimmy Page and lyrics by lead vocalist, Robert Plant.
A recommendation from your DAD!!! If that was my dad the recommended music would be either Frank Sinatra or Pagliacci the clown/OPERA. Time marches on... I guess!?!

I'm sorry sir and I mean no offense, but I'm finding this kind of hard to believe. Going through your whole life having never heard Stairway to Heaven at least a few times is pretty difficult to do. That's like going through your whole life never seeing a poodle. You won't see them a lot if you're not looking for them, but eventually you're going to come across a couple poodles.
Hey, appreciate your comment. Definitely a first time hearing it. I expect sometimes I will stumble across something I have heard somewhere before without knowing it, and actually presumed it would be the case with this one. But nope, all new. I certainly intend to be honest and state if I hear something I've listened to before.
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions You're lucky for that. It's got to be a great song to hear it that way. I come from a long line of music fanatics so the song's pretty burned into my psyche. I honestly can't even remember hearing it for the first time. I was probably like a month old so it's always just kind of been there.
There's always one isn't there. Just can't believe di da di da. That is a 50 year old number. Many decades of different genres have been and gone. Stadium rock almost died when punk came in. Only dedicated old/classic rock channels or programs played this after punk. Just listen to dad!

The greatest part of this track is Jimmy's guitar work.
More Zepplien Please do OVER THE HILLS FAR AWAY and RAMBLE ON
I definitely intend to very soon. I've added your suggestions to my list. Thanks for getting in touch!
Go Bonzo!!!
Robert Plant (lead singer) was the god of rock voices,he had and still does have huge range.
I can certainly see why he holds that title! Amazing vocals.
If you like 60s and 70s music, try Yes, and the song Roundabout.
Thanks for the recommendation. Happy to give it a go, I'll stick it on my list :)
And now, try 'Child In Time' by Deep Purple. Another song that starts slow and builds to a crescendo. You'll enjoy that one.
