Whatever you think their style is based on this performance, they have about 15 completely different styles. They released over 200 records during their short career and to me, about 30 of them are immortal, timeless classics.
To me the most amazing thing is this song did not even exist a couple of weeks before. They wrote it, arranged it and polished it enough to be played on film all during the same month in January 1969
This was 8 months before John quit, about 2 weeks after George had quit and come back, Ringo had left the group for a few weeks the year before, and Paul finally quit 13 months later.
Yes, from early, middle and late periods. Early 60s to early 70s. Their music styles evolved. And also listen to other music from each era to get a sense of why The Beatles stood out amongst their peers and became the most popular, highest record-selling band of all time (183,000,000 albums sold).
This was the last time they ever played together. This is the famous "Rooftop" concert, that was a spur of the moment thing. Downtown London England. The greatest Band in Rock History, called it quits after only 7 years.
@@victorcowboywest @Victor West Yes, he played on Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St., Goats Head Soup, It's Only Rock 'n Roll and Black and Blue, and toured with the Stones between 1973 and 77. I saw him with them in 77. He played in Little Richard's band in the early 1960s (that's when he first met The Beatles, in Hamburg, Germany) and he was also employed by Mahalia Jackson and Ray Charles. Not a bad CV!
The keyboards really help to make this song (and much of the rest of the album, Let It Be). The dude playing them is Billy Preston. His presence helped tremendously to keep them from imploding during the making of the album; they were driving each other crazy and would break up shortly after this. They gave him liner credit on the album; it's the only time they did that for anyone I think.
On their single of "Don't Let Me Down", the record label said "The Beatles with Billy Preston". That was the first and only time anyone got credit on a Beatles record. The Beatles met Billy back in 1960 In their Hamburg days, when Billy was playing keyboards with Little Richard. They remained friends their whole lives.
He was the 5th Beatle - literally. He was was told he was officially a member of The Beatles about month before Paul filed papers to dissolve the group and Apple Corp.
They didn't have many issues getting along, Paul was the issue. The Beatles broke up because Paul refused John's offer to do an album giving George an equal number of songs after he got back from playing Toronto with Plastic Ono and John said okay I quit then.
@@CC-oi9mc That's a rather simplistic way of looking at it. There were many factors that made the break up inevitable particularly the fact that they were all drifting apart musically. Abbey Road doesn't actually have that many tracks that all four Beatles played on. Paul was tired of being the defacto leader and keeping them together making records while getting hate from the others for it. If it wasn't for Paul then the Beatles wouldn't have even lasted long after Brian's death. John was also demanding that they go all in on the peace thing which the others were not too keen on and let's not forget that Yoko's constant presence and that John was allowing her to speak for him. They were discussing breaking up long before that fateful meeting when Paul dissed George's song writing ability.
There are so many great Beatles songs I could recommend I hardly know where to start! Slow/gentle: Blackbird, Yesterday, Something Mid-tempo: Here Comes the Sun, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Norwegian Wood Hard/fast: Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR, Twist and Shout
If yall have never heard The Beatles before this, you should do more! The versatility of the band was hardly heard of even for years after, they had a hand in creating and perfecting many techniques that other artists would be lost without. i.e Bohemian Rhapsody wouldn't exist if The Beatles producer wouldn't have figured out Double Tracking for Revolver
The Beatles covered Smokey Robinson, the Isley Brothers and several female soul groups, but this is an original song that was obviously inspired by those artists.
Definitely one of my favorite songs by them. Worth checking out their late 60s music, awesome! John was my favorite. Had some great solo songs and with the Plastic Ono Band.
Glad you liked it. This is just the tip of the iceberg (and towards the end of their reign.) Their growth and innovation is unparalleled and they are responsible for all music afterwards. They are not only the best group/artists of all time, but the best selling and they did it in the span of 7 years. 🤯
It's amazing how music can transport you back in time...I remember making out with this gorgeous guy named Lance to this song...OMG! Thanks for the memories!
You started at the end, this was their last performance together. Their early beginning was their love for 1950s American Rock n Roll. Little Richard claimed he took the Beatles under his wing when they were pretty much unknowns. They were on tour in Hamburg Germany and shared a dressing room. That’s where and from whom Paul McCartney got his iconic scream from. Little Richard said he sometimes bought their meals when they couldn’t afford to

This was their very last "live" performance on the roof top of the building for their record company Apple in central London. Beatles forever changed the way you make and record music. If you think a drum loop is something quite new maybe from sometime in the '80s possibly late '70s? Well Beatles created the first drum loop way back in 1966 by literally copying and pasting! The song is called Tomorrow Never Knows and it's very psychedelic 😅
The Beatles are honestly my favorite band. This is from their later days, this one from 1969. Don't Let Me Down was written by John Lennon, who was (usually) the rhythm guitarist. Every member of the band wrote at least 2 songs for the band. I'd definitely recommend more songs from them! Here's 1 song written by the other 3 members from around the same time: Paul McCartney (bassist): Oh! In essentially every Beatles song (that isn't a live performance), some instruments are panned to the left or the right. You'll need to find some way that the both of you can hear the instruments from both sides.
Well the best way to experience the greatest act of all time is to do it in chronological order, that way you get the full picture on just how much they changed everything in so many different ways. Awesome reaction!
The great Billy Preston on the electric piano. One of my fave Beatlles tunes. "I'm in love for the first time. I know it's gong to last. It's a that last forever. It's a love that has no past." Yesterday was my 46th wedding anniversary with my girlfriend.

You really need to react to more Beatles! Literally one of the greatest bands of all time. I could probably name 40+ of their songs off the top of my head!
This was a somewhat secret and quickly assembled session recorded on the roof of Apple Records, owned by the Beatles, and in the building next door to EMI Records where they did their recording. It was done January 30, 1969. They quickly recruited the famous Billy Preston for the keyboards too. It's one of my favorite Beatles songs.
This was a spontaneous happening after they had finished recording sessions. George and John grabbed their wives coats on their way to the rooftop. Beatles are great to react to.
What makes Beatles incredible was their diversity in sound from song to song....special talents...especially vocally and lyrically....McCartney one of top 5 all time vocalist to me...because he does it all, his catalog proves this!!!
Welcome to the greatness that is The Beatles. Their performance of "Get Back" from this same rooftop concert is also stellar. They only managed to perform a few songs that day before the cops made them leave the roof because they were causing a traffic jam in the streets below from the crowds that gathered to listen. It was cold that day, too-in the 40s, as I recall-so it's amazing they were able to hold their pitches!
The traffic jam was real enough, but what was so irritating were the cops lying about "30 complaints" when there were 3,000 fans out there. Tell those 30 to get back into their own offices, and stop wandering the streets AND complaining - "I can't work with this out here!" What nonsense. We all kept wanting The Press to list all the complainers and their businesses, put THOSE on headlines: "Company XYZ hates the Beatles" and "Company ABC is one of those that stopped the Beatles' free concert!" Let's see how consumers treated those companies THEN.
This was part of their last concert, on the rooftop of their music building in London. Billy Preston joined them on keys for this concert / album ("Let It Be"). From that same concert, you should check out: "I've Got a Feeling" (ua-cam.com/video/fTZ804WxpGg/v-deo.html), and from the same album "Get Back" (ua-cam.com/video/IKJqecxswCA/v-deo.html).
Apart from Sheridan, the American pianist Billy Preston was the only artist to receive joint credit on a Beatles single, for his playing on "Get Back". On the Let it Be album where Preston's performances are used the song credits list "with Billy Preston". Preston also played organ on "Let It Be", "Something" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", and Fender Rhodes electric piano on "Don't Let Me Down", "One After 909", "Dig A Pony", "I've Got a Feeling", and "Get Back". Preston first met the Beatles in 1962, but his "Fifth Beatle" claim originated in January 1969 when Harrison invited him to join them for recording sessions in order to defuse tensions in the band. Lennon suggested that Preston join the Beatles, even using the term "Fifth Beatle", but the idea was dismissed by McCartney. To distinguish Preston from the controversy over who is the Fifth Beatle, he is sometimes given the unique title of the "Black Beatle".
This was the Beatles last performance. They broke up not long after this rooftop performance. To perform they simply walked out of their studio and went to the roof of Apple Records, their record company. They could not perform in a regular venue because the fans’ screaming was so loud that could not be heard. The last several years they only worked in the studio and produced records. It allowed them to be much more experimental in their creative process.
They were the worlds most famous band. They being offered $100s of millions to tour. Instead they went up on the roof of their studio and played live for free until the cops made them stop. Last they played live then they broke up. Legendary ❤❤❤❤
Almost every song they released was its own style. You need to see as much of them as possible. If you're going to listen to 60-70 music you need to EACH have both ear pieces. You'll miss out on a lot of the music if you don't. They really used the stereo.
What you need to know is every musical advancement or technological advancement or video all started with these guys. They did everything 1st. And they did it 50+ years ago. At this time in their existence they were fighting and George and Ringo were leaving the group but they got back together and were on their best behavior because they brought Billy Preston in to play keyboards and they wanted to impress him. I wish you guys would take the time and start at the beginning to watch them grow up.
This is the famous Beatles roof-top concert. When the cops came and told them to reduce the volume, the concert was over and the fab four would never play for the public ever again.
The original drummer of The Beatles, Pete Best performed with the group during their early days when it was a five-man lineup: Best, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Stuart Sutcliffe. He went with the band to Hamburg, Germany, but was let go in 1962 and replaced with Ringo Starr.
Hi, just wanted to correct you on something you might not have known. Meet The Beatles was their first album in the US. Their real first was released in the UK, and is called Please Please Me. This Boy was released as a single in the UK.
Love your vibe, great video - my only critique is you GOTTA have both ears listening! I'm pretty sure this is mixed in stereo and you're missing some important parts of the performance! I'd strongly recommend both earphones in whenever you listen to music for these videos :) ~peace~
Thank You So Much!!♥️ And I Totally Understand Pertaining To Using Both Earphones! But The Way We React To The Videos We Dont Want To Constantly Keep Stopping The Videos Everytime We Throw Our Little Comments In.. And If We Put Both Earphones In We Cant Hear Each Other.
The director is obviously chronicling los beatles, The footage failed show billy preston playing those soul keys. A narrow historical perspective. Ringo looks great here even though you can tell he's not feeling the band..
This is a weirdly lyric'd song. If he's so in love with this person - and all the verses say that over and over, and over and over... then why does the chorus cry out "Don't let me down"? I mean - how can he have this one true love but also fret over her betrayal or departure? The verses are exactly opposite of the chorus. Or is he COMMANDING her? "It's the love that lasts forever" then but don'tcha DARE let me down-!! What-?!!
Just a suggestion, get a splitter and use two sets of ear phones otherwise both of you will miss out on half the music on many recordings, especially from the 60's, 70's and 80's when they were experimenting with stereo mixing techniques.

No, Lennon wrote it in 1968 and brought it to the Get Back sessions on day one, 2 January 1969. There's a home demo.
Now just imagine, it is around 40 degrees, January in damp cold England, and you have not had a live concert in over 3 years. This is amazing.

The man on the keyboard is Billy Preston
Thank you for this reaction. Check out the Beatles song "This Boy", it was on the first album, called, Meet The Beatles. Thank you.
Hi, just wanted to correct you on something you might not have known. Meet The Beatles was their first album in the US. Their real first was released in the UK, and is called Please Please Me. This Boy was released as a single in the UK.
@@pizzarellayt Thank you, I didn't know that. Always nice to learn new things.
Penny Lane, Hey Jude, Strawberry Field, and Twist and Shout (which is very early)
Ck out “Hey Jude” and “Revolution” !!!
Prove it? Hahahaha. They’ve already done that, many times.
😅🥰
What-?!!
Maybe check some other John Lennon lyrics (Run for your life, Help, Jealous guy, for instance) and read up on his life and it may just make sense

Yep… you need to watch the whole concert and get an idea of who they were. Then? You’ve just begun. I’m 70 and remember it all.
♥️
Just a suggestion, get a splitter and use two sets of ear phones otherwise both of you will miss out on half the music on many recordings, especially from the 60's, 70's and 80's when they were experimenting with stereo mixing techniques.
I chat in real time ... they GONNA prove it! lol
