  • Tony Peterson joins forces with fellow whitetail guru, Andy May, for a few days on the water in north-central Minnesota. The early summer water temperatures are perfect for targeting both smallmouth and largemouth with topwaters, and the fish are hungry. Multiple days of explosive surface hits help these two whitetail nerds pass the time as they count down the days until bow season. Presented by ‪@onXHunt‬.

    What Tony said is so right, fishing shows (and many hunting shows) create an unrealistic image of what it is like to be out there. That is one of the reasons I was immediately drawn to Meateater, you guys manage to juxtapose every sportsman's experience with errors, weather, and bloopers against amazing backdrops and successes.

    Holy crap! Meateater finally let Tony get in front of a camera for something other than One Week in November.

    Tony ought to be ashamed, he missed the one game species that Minnesota is top of the game with - ruffed grouse! We may not have a huge variety of species, but what we have is plentiful and ruffed grouse more than anyone else! Fun episode here, love seeing my home state represented!

      Maine would be the next contender out of the lower 48. I agree. Same here deer bear and turkey moose by lottery and some it's a once in a lifetime hunt even for residents but the grouse hunting here is just amazing nothing to have ur limit of 4 birds in under 20 mins

    The banter between them is exactly how me and my buddies talk when we are fishing.

    I got a 5 lb bass today at the lake on my catfish rod using cut bait. My PB bass. 5 lbs and from my finger tips to just past my elbow. 😐

    My God I miss doing this! I don't get to go fishing. Made bad choices when I was young and now I'm stuck friendless, no family left, chasing dollars so I don't die and barely making it.

    I'm spoiled by Texas. They're like moooonster and I'm over here like "meh that's about average here." I know smallies area lot smaller and fight a lot harder. Just having fun! I do wish we had the variety of species though. Heading to MN next month with my kayak and want to explore. A nice pike would be awesome

    Nice smallie, I'd say is was about 4 to 5 pounds. Always fun fishing.

    • @chengloroutdoors9211

      Smallies shake their heads too much. I think the line grabbing is better than getting a treble through your finger since they have no net. I've had friends try to grab smallies by the mouth. All it takes is 1 shake and that hook is in your finger. And when you realize it, the fish starts shaking some more. 😬

    Guys, you're killing me here....please lip the bass or put your hand under his belly. Lifting them with the line is a recipe for disaster! Great video though!

      @@thirdiprodigy3579a lot of them go a bit too hard, but Yankees don’t need to set the hook so hard because they don’t get as big 😂

      Past few years I’ve been flattening all my barbs for pond fishing and steelhead. Never trebles. I haven’t noticed any more fish lost and especially for catch and release everybody wins. Torquing bass by the jaw is just dumb.

  • @Ronnie-NE-Fishin
    @Ronnie-NE-Fishin 21 день тому

    5lb ish on the heavy side but not 6lb totally potentially on length but just didn’t have the girth. Still a big ass smallie! And what sorta bass fisherman doesn’t have a net on their $50k boat?? 😂
