Thanks for your super fun and emotional video.
I loved growing up in (Rochester) MN.
My parents moved to CA & when my wife were a year out to our two sons from starting kindergarten in 2000, I showed my wife the great large split-level home in Rochester. My wife wasnt having any of that after she "endured" living througj Chicago winters. I never considered the Minnesota winters a detriment. I relished living through it all. Of course I played hockey indoor & outdoor, and so loved the Minnesota cold. She, a multiple myeloma cancer survivor so far, does like flyfishing with me though❤. We've also flyfished for bonita in the breakwaters of redondo beach. Its like fast strip- retrieving for smallies and big mouths but on steroids. Now that were nearing our retirement I'm going to plan a diversified activity vacation to maybe in the border waters where I hope to entice ger for one if our vacation trips. Wish me luck. Until then ill see you on the water.
Thanks again for your fun vid. Tight lines.

Where you are standing at 28:10. I caught a 30 inch 10 lb kype jaw male that was painted by Bob Ross himself back in 2008 at that spot. Only fish we caught that day. Things have changed in SE MN over the last twenty to 35 years. I recognize a bunch of the iconic spots you visited on the north shore, it's really cool to see others enjoying the places I once explored. I've since moved to Montana to pursue flyfishing dreams, and it's been as advertised. That said there's things in Minnesota you can't get here, the smell of the black soil in the forest, big fat morels by the pound, more spring creeks in striking distance, and of course the lesser known water that rivals anything it's size in the mountains. I miss a nice easy riffle, run, pool, walk. I like that you're doing what you're doing down there on the root river, and I wish you the best.

Another great video. 6 years ago me and a friend did a recon fly fishing mission to the Wisconsin Driftless. Now we make the drive every year in September. Just like the Ozarks it truly a magical place.

It reminded me a lot of the Ozarks, but still a very unique place with tons of beautiful fish. Thanks!

This video brings back great memories of my father taking me fishing on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We met nice people, Addie and Pete Sorlie at Paradise Beach that show us where to catch those beautiful brookies. I was tying Herters patterns like the balloon streamer and a cork topped parachute to catch unforgettable beauties on. Great video I hope I get the chance to fish Minnesota again.

Can't say enough about this video - especially the bit on the North Shore. We spread my mom's ashes at Father Baraga's Cross, my grandpa still lives in Schroeder (and still owns some land on the road down to the Cross), and I spent my life fishing those exact waters. It was excellent to see the attention paid to the logging and development of the Schroeder area. The log dams you talk about were built by my great Grandpa; he and my great grandma actually started the first general store there as well -- eventually that turned into the late Cross River Cafe. There's nothing like the North Shore, and you guys did a great job of capturing so much of it in just a few minutes. Excellent, excellent stuff - and a couple nice brookies up above the barrier too. 99% sure I could send you a pin on Google maps with your exact location in that wider spot in the trees. I caught my first brookie a few hundred yards down river of that spot.
