„Um Gottes willen, du malst den Teufel an die Wand!“. So die Reaktion von Gustav Mahlers Frau Alma auf die Komposition seiner „Kindertotenlieder“ nach Texten aus der gleichnamigen Gedichtsammlung von Friedrich Rückert. Wenige Zeit später starb die gemeinsame Tochter Maria Anna und Mahler bekannte: „Jetzt hätte ich die Lieder nicht mehr schreiben können.“
Anton Bruckner selbst gab seiner Sinfonie Nr. 4 den Beinamen „Romantische“. An der Grenze zwischen Hoch- und Spätromantik, an der sich der Zeitstil wandeln und schließlich auflösen sollte, beschwor Anton Bruckner mit seiner vierten Sinfonie noch einmal die Ursprünglichkeit der romantischen Geisteshaltung.

I enjoyed this performance. My only caveat is that the audio needs to be louder. This is a Bruckner Symphony, after all. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
Hi Wayne. I had no problem with the audio volume. Maybe they have tweaked it since they originally put the performance onto UA-cam - I really enjoyed the concert.

Sounds as romantic as the funereal face masks. Bruckner deserves better.
