One of the best Mahler VII recordings out there. Absolutely captivating
🙏thank you so much!
Welcome back Maestro Roth. Thank you for sharing your great musical insight.
Superb Performance worthy of a standing ovation !!!!!
Amazing that the American born timpanist has adapted to the German configuration of his timpani drums.
It makes actually zero difference how you configure them. You just do what you personally prefer. I played them in both configurations, but since my main instrument is the piano I prefer to have the lower notes to my left, just like on the piano.
Thankyou for the opportunity to watch this performance.
We`re happy to serve! 😀
Love the rotary value trumpets !
A fabulously exciting performance. Bravo tutti.
Outstanding rendition by Maestro Roth of Mahler´s 7th Symphony. He is a brilliant mahlerian conductor. Thanks a lot Maestro.
Thank you so much!
Fantastisch! Selten eine so durchsichtige Interpretation gehört! Danke…
Danke, das freut uns sehr!
Wow! Such a pleasure to hear and watch a Mshler symphony! The musicians are wonderful! The performance right on!
Hi @davidmayhew8083! Thank you so much for your nice words!
26:53 Imperial march :)
Wonderful recording!
Thank you!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
Great playing, wow❤
Einfach wunderbar diese Aufführung!
Dankeschön
If the best Mahler symphony is, as the saying goes, "the one that the listener has most recently heard," then the seventh is always the one I've most recently heard. Or at least I could say this: there is no greater retransition: there, in that sense, he peaked with seven.
It's so funny that conductors tend to rule in pairs, in opposite polarities: when Mahler 7 was written, you had Strauss and Mahler, and now you have Roth and Currentzis. (Also -- it's so touching to me that when I was a child, the organ I heard at church on Sunday mornings was played by FXR's dad)
this is a great conductor. Always interesting.
Guest principal trumpet Sebastian Berner rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😍
Such an amazing interpretation with well-handeled Details......but IMO as an audience the overall Tempo of 2rd and 3th movement was just likely to be faster than usual(e.g. in Recordings of some CDs)
But you did still like it?
@@klassikswrkultur Definitely, especially the melody of percussion section!
Euphonium players be like: Mahler 7? Yeah, I've heard it many times. About 30 seconds long, right?
Hi @MarcusHammarberg! Ja, vermutlich würde jeder Euphoniumspieler nach seinem Solo gerne einfach heimgehen anstatt noch eine Stunde auf der Bühne zu warten, bis die Sinfonien endlich vorbei ist. 😄
Even NachtMusik 2 is way too fast, no more serenade just a race to the finale
Agreed, it’s supposed to be a pre-dawn stroll, not a race
Nice present!
Thank you! :)
Amazing! The camera man finally found a kettle drum. 😮 Wondering about he may eventually find the rest of the orchestra. 😉His constant panning and zooming makes me seasick. 🤢A Mahler performance deserves better. 🤔
Nachtmusik II is way too fast, so 48:01 and others were predictable disasters
No es la mejor sinfonía de Mahler, pero está bien defendida y planteada.
12:40
Technically near perfect. But this version is a bit dry, with not much life, too tidy, with no risk taking.
Häh, wieso is der Olaf Scholz der Dirigent? I hob gdacht, der wär Kanzler. Und er is aa Cellist 49:47, a Wahnsinn wos dieser Mann ois konn. So einer hätten wir aa gern in OE als Bundeskanzler.
😆 bei uns ist eben alles möglich. Wir werden die Idee mal weitergeben...
Yes he knows the score and they play the notes, but where is the music, the engagement? Where is the mystery, the visions, the humour, the irony? He shows no smile nor an expression anywhere, just conducts the score. This was probably the least exiting Mahler 7th I have heard.
I have to agree. A strangely bloodless performance.
@@ftumschk Goes with the conductore I'm afraid
How many rehearsals will he have had? Two, maybe. His conducting says: Let's make sure that we don't screw up.
@@joachimsaxer4812 That's probably right. But in that case they should't have played the piece. Every Mahler symphony performance must be a great happening, where everyone gives his/her utmost.
@@larsjohansson7954 Watch him conducting Delibes, Lakmé, with Marianne Crebassa. He is a phantastic conductor.
