The Ring cameras get good ratings, but when looking at the pros and cons section contained in most reviews, a common “con” is that they are more susceptible to hacking than other cameras. That’s a pretty big con in my opinion.
Plus the video quality is not very good even when compared to other 1080P systems. Their customer service is really good though. All these companies have cons. It is just what are you willing to live with.
on my third ring doorbell within 6 month all changed under warranty, The sec gen batteries are problematic and fail and wont hold a charge, Got harder to get it replaced under warranty, very hard
For a security cameras review. It seems rather odd you don't mention anything about how the cameras handle the user's information. How secure is the information during transport to the cloud, over Wi-Fi, or the internet, and who has access to the information? For how long? Surely ALL the cameras mentioned don't share the same security measures (regarding users' information/digital images and privacy-related concerns) How secure are the security cameras?
Forgive me if I missed it, but didn't notice any real usage of the system. How good is it at producing a "still picture" for "photoshop" analysis after a break-in, car theft or any other nefarious activity. I'm sure most of us at one time or another will have seen video footage on television of some criminal activity and had our minds blown away at the utterly shite quality of the videos. Having spent a small fortune on our system, why then are we fleeced by the manufacturers who compell us to use cloud storage or other "extra" facilities. Good of them to provide cloud storage for us, but why are we compelled to use it rather than our own facilities. What would be really good is a video showing the "best" cameras and how good they are at being useful when disaster strikes.
Great review thank you. Convinced me to go Eufy after Arlo end of life fiasco. Got the 3C 4 pack, Homebase 3, Floodlight 2 pro, 2 x 2C and topped it off with the solar Eufycam 3. One or two problems with the HB3 Dual cam doorbell which should be resolved on the March software upgrade. Picture quality and set-up exceptional. A great all round home security package.
Im just about send my eufycam 3 (3cam set) back. Some days, it detect movement from 7m away, somedays its 5m. Thats waaay to little for me. Theres many good things about eufycam 3 though, just doesnt work for me
@@hjkjccdggjhvb theres many kinds of needs. I bought reolink 8mp cameras, and those cameras r perfect for me. Reolinks starts recording well before movement, and these have captured all the movements so far. Ive had sec cameras 15y, and these r so far the most reliable to record movement, even 25m away
The only problem with the Eufy camera is that if someone steals it and presses the reset button for 10 seconds, ALL the video stored on the home unit gets erased. It is a major flaw which Eufy have still been unable to fix. It was a deal breaker for me, so I went with Ring.
@@ferrollg If you had read my comment correctly you would have realised that I said that. I said "if someone steals it and presses the reset button for 10 seconds, ALL the video STORED ON THE HOME UNIT get's erased". The home unit is the wording I used for the home base.
Only if you hold the button within range. If they steal it and reset it out of range your footage is still on the Homebase. I know this from personal experience.
@@gregf4170 Yes that is true. The problem is that information about the flaw is out there (you know about, I know about it and a lot of others too). So if someone knows about it and realises it is an Eufy, they can pull the camera down, reset it and dispose of it and break into your property with no record of it happening. I'm not prepared to take that risk.
I’ve been reading and Reolink seems to be one of the best for folks outside city limits who don’t have great satellite service and it’s hard to hack these cable cameras which I prefer.
If you're comparing cameras, you should provide footage from each so there can be a good comparison otherwise you're just comparing statistics which is difficult to make a good comparison, as it really depends on the footage and quality of the footage during the day and at night to choose which camera is better.
My favs: Reolink E1 Outdoor pan & tilt WIFI plugs into electrical outlet; and the Reolink Duo Cam with Floodlights. I was able to install and hook all 6 of mine up myself and I am not a techie, so after you do the first initial camera the rest are easy, so it's a pretty easy set up. Price is low, I got $20 off so the E1s cost $70 each; but the Duo cost a bit more @ $146 ea. I run them on my big screen smart TV using a backdoor app to Reolink. One of the pan n tilts E1 I use to monitor the awesome wildlife behind our house and it records bobcats, coyote, and more.
Does anyone know where I can get a outdoor camera for just live feed without having to pay for subscription every month? Or pay for sd card for storage? I just want to see what’s going on sometimes I don’t need something fancy..
I just purchased the night owl They claim it's trouble free and simple, and I would stay away from the lightbulb cameras, purchase two of them and they're worthless
Nice summary. I'm going with the ReoLink PTZ auto-tracking plug-in WiFi (not on your list). The BIG selling point for me is the dual hi-res cameras, auto-zooming by the 2nd camera. This gives a fighting chance of an image good enough for police evidence. The auto-floodlight tells the crook they're being recorded, and it follows them across the lawn, which has to be unsettling. REOLINK 4K Wired WiFi Outdoor Camera, 8MP Dual Lens Security Camera, 360 PTZ Camera w/Auto Tracking, 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi Smart Person/Vehicle Detection, 6X Hybrid Zoom, Color Night Vision, TrackMix WiFi There are 3 variations, in order of lower cost & best choice depending on wiring options: 1. POE (no battery), and POE; obviously POE is best (and cheapest) if laying the wire is an option. Constant unlimited power, very fast download & management speeds, completely reliable connection. 2. Plug-in (no battery); next best if you're near power because there's no battery that'll eventually go bad, or run down if there's too much activity. 3. Solar is a great option for a simple 30 minute install start-to-end if you have great WiFi and not too much activity. Solar + battery adds about $50 to the cost. I also installed a TP Link WiFi6 network extender (also wireless). Highly recommended! I get 20mbps standing in the middle of the street, and that's transmitting thru a 30' garage + over a 30' driveway + 15' into the street. Plus I can plug a POE switch into it's multi-purpose network port (not an option with many extenders). Since WiFi strength fluctuates, wiring a POE switch and running wires across my garage is an option for 2 of my target locations; wirelessly extended across my living room from the other side of the house. I also got the ReoLink doorbell camera. So far so good. Love the 5MP image and 5.2Ghz support, I'm sending the battery powered 2MP AOSU back. The ReoLink lacks a few features, but the image quality difference is night & day, and I like using my old-style doorbell's wires for power - no battery to worry about. Only downside of ReoLink is that support is non-existent. If the AI bot doesn't help you (and it won't), the only other option is to leave them a message. That said; they have a nice (and free) PC Windows app that works beautifully for setups (their phone app fails miserably to install) - but the phone app works great apart from that.
Brad, yes, that's a great camera! I'm assuming you mean the E1 Outdoor wifi pan n tilt that plugs into electricity. I've got 4 of them and just love them. I wish the duo floodlight cam by Reolink had the pan n tilt because it's awesome to just be able to move the camera from inside the house. Also, i just noticed the little pet footprint or human or car icons display on the recorded clips so when you're looking for animals you can easily find that footage. i think Reolink is the best. Enjoy yours!
Yet even with all of Eufy's security issues last year, they don't have the ability to lock the mobile application which is surprising and disapointing.
