I grew up riding in my mom's 65 Impala Super Sport until it was hit head on. She lived but the car didn't. it was still running after she got hit. Best car ever she says. That wagon is awesome. Looking forward to seeing you get that thing running all gears.
Back in the day when Earl Schieb offered a Paint job for $19.95 then $29.95 then $39.95 People couldn't afford to Ziebart coat the underside for a $175. so it was rarely done. Back then when New cars were selling @ $3500 AC option was $500. That's like buying a New car today @ $60K & if you opted for AC that would be another $10K on top!! Thankfully Ac IS Standard on most vehicles today. Today they profit putting on the *Goodies* Along with Power Windows, Remote Locks & Start, Sticker Packages & so on.
Good to have you back Dez I was just wondering when you would upload another video but good job on the wagon that's gonna be a fun ride! It looks beautiful and thanks for showing the drum brake installation. I learn alot from content creators like you bro God bless!
Thanks for watching man. I actually have a bunch of videos I need to get off my phone. Just been so busy lately. I’m glad somebody likes the tech talk type things.
Don't think I have the dexterity left to do break assembly. I liked watching it though. Nice to have nice floor pans! Pontiac Dave's yard seems to have plenty of vehicles to work on. Good business.
My dad had the exact same model (with a straight 6, and a dead cylinder) and the color was either the same or more of a sky blue. HIs was a 1960. By around 1966ish his floor boards rotted out because we live in the Boston area. We used to get Hellacious snow back then. I loved that car but he got rid of it for another rust bucket, IIRC a '59 Dodge Coronet. That thing was plug fugly. Two tone black and white with a red interior. I'm 66 years old now and in failing health. I would love to have another old car but between the health and money issues and the fact that I'm not spry enough to do what I used to it's all just a bittersweet memory. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It gets my mind off all of the other issues we face today.
🙏🏾Thanks for telling your story and I appreciate you watching my videos. Here’s the latest update on this car: ua-cam.com/video/xokq-_dZ6Bc/v-deo.htmlsi=H-K7QmUUrhfE-LPs
My Grandfather (Frank) had borrowed my Mom a wagon EXACTLY like this one here. I can remember riding in it though i was very young. A transmission problem did it in.
A friend has a 1966 Caprice Wagon, with the 427, it’s automatic, unfortunately, but does have bucket seats and a console, gauges, and a factory tach, not a fast car, but very nice. 👍
My old 60s chevy scooby van has 4 wheel drums and I don't want to modify her at all (she has points in an lt1) as I don't want hei but I am not fond at all doing old school drum brakes . Half the people in van clubs claim drum brakes are not safe at highway speeds . I love this wagon she's supppeerrrr awesome
You may not know this but with a Powerglide you can pull start your car at about 35 MPH I had a 65 Impala once sitting for many years and that’s how I got it running, not that you need to do this Cause you already got it running
I don't blame you !! Pass it down to the kids , it's a keeper !! I remember these cars from my childhood day's almost every Mom had one , Ford , Chevy , Mopar , great old car's!!
In Germany American Wagons are Icons, draw the most attention at car shows, I attended an event at Nuburgring, thought what sort of one off is surrounded by a crowd, it was a mercury Comet wagon... later the stands stood up when American V8's thundered onto the track, shelby cobras mustangs + corvettes
I like the 66 model station wagons...being a disabled veteran...my check monthly makes it impossible for me to enjoy these gems...god bless you my brotha..
I can't wait for you to get that thing back on the road. I want to see you drive it all the walthough. I do hope you're gonna change that. Power glide for a Turbo 400.

Wow! They sure don’t make them like they used to
Your lucky to know a perso like Pontiac Dave that has the knowledge and is willing to pass it along ,great video Thanks
Absolutely! I’m also glad that I have finally convinced him to slow down so I can film it for people to learn from. That was the hardest part 😂
Amen
I am a Michigan guy. That spare tire storage was the first thing to rust out. Back in the day. 😊
Yea GM didn’t really think that out 😂
My first grade teacher had one just like it, but it was gold, she used it to take us to and from school from 1967 to 1972.
It’s amazing how cars leave an impact on your brain for life
only a dream Solomon Burke , that's my dream of getting one of these cars again , I'm 60 so the time is running out but a nice Caddy would be awesome

Trade you from California / 2001 gmc Sierra1500 quad cab truck ?
My dad would do brake jobs on all my our 50s and 60s Chevys. That was almost like a hobby for him😂
I always paid someone to do the drums and I would swap the front to discs.
Drum brake repair is truely a dying platform but good to know
I figured someone would like to see it. I’ll have more in part two

The Powerglide is fine for now. If I swap out the engine, I’ll definitely change the transmission.
Sell it to me
Got to have a trans am in the yard 😊

Good video. It needs a set of 15x8 Vette rallys with flat caps on it.
That would be cool! But I’m putting dog dish caps on it
Good to see this leviathan pointed back towards the road.
