Artist in Residence 2024/25: Vidya Patel

The Philharmonia Orchestra is pleased to announce Vidya Patel as its Artist in Residence for the 2024/25 season. The Philharmonia’s Artist in Residence programme sees a collaboration between an artist of a non-classical music background and the Orchestra, to explore and combine two differing art forms and celebrate each other’s artistic creativity. Vidya’s residency marks the fourth year of the Artist in Residence initiative, which has previously featured House of Absolute (21/22), Love Ssega (22/23) and Soumik Datta (23/24).
Vidya will be working with the Philharmonia over the next 12 months to develop a new project that blends together her practice of dance, movement and choreography with classical music. She will explore, with Philharmonia musicians, themes of belonging, identity and global humanity, through collaborative creative sessions and performances. Through this collaboration, Vidya hopes to question and challenge the relationship between audience and performers, exploring the connection between dance artists, musicians, stage design and the space around us.
