my first shirtless run in 2022 today - I could get used to that temperature and cloudless sky for 3 weeks now in Bavaria. I'd buy that Asics shoe just because of the look, I really like this 80ies neon colourway!
Oh interesting news on the Zwift/Asics matchup. I purchased a treadmill a few months ago and I use Zwift on my Ipad to make the treadmill runs a little less boring. I plan to hop on this weekend and I'll see what Asics has in store......thanks!
Just reading about those Vimazi shoes. Kind of feel the "dare" would be to try the fastest and slowest ones and see if you can see go "normal" pace in either. Bit sceptical of the drops too - apparently elites need 4mm and shall we say "fun" runners need 6mm. Hardly much difference!
Hey Tim, John Zilly from Vimazi here. If you run outside the pace zone of one of our shoes, it'll run fine and feel like any other non-tuned running shoe. But when you hit the sweet spot of your pace zone, you'll get a lively feel from cushioning and propulsion efficiency that are optimized to respond to the forces of your pace. If you try different Vimazi models, you'll definitely feel the difference.
@@talktozilly Thanks! Look forward to trying some of them. That said, I hope you are making them in a UK 13/US 14? When will they be available to buy and will they be from the UK?
@@TimGrose Yes, we will definitely have size 14 (US) in all models. Thankfully because I'm a 14! Production is scheduled for June, which means we hope to have shoes for sale in late July or August (supply chain willing!). Shipping costs from the US could be prohibitive in the short term. However, we have a Norwegian distributor and they should have a website to order from for lower shipping costs. They'll have shoes on the same timing. Also, we are scheduled to have a booth at the Run Show in Birmingham in January 2023. We hope to have shoes for sale at that event. You can sign up for our weekly newsletter to get the latest on our journey. Thanks!
Have done a lot on Zwift on the treadmill. It was one way to get the original Adios Pro when they were like gold dust! Now then will the virtual Metaspeed Sky come up in my size unlike the real ones :)
I’ve done a lot of Zwift running through the Canadian winter. It is sooo much better than looking at a TV (at the gym) and the race/group run events make the running a lot more fun and help you push yourself - or chill out. Highly recommend it if you have a treadmill - it free on Zwift! You will need some tech to make it work - and if you can’t get your hands on the Zwift run pod it can be a challenge.
Hey Edd - I'm one off those affected by the Bath Half and looks like I'm not the only one vexed by it, according to the many villagers holding fiery torches on the Internet. It was originally March 2021, put back to September 21, which was then put back to March 22, then May 22 and now put back to October 22! Incidentally put back to the same date of the Yorkshire marathon and so seeing as I can't be in two places at once, looks like I would be deferring my place to October 23. But... seeing as I am one of those saps who bought an early bird entry for the March 23 event which has in turn itself been put back to October 23, I'll now have two entries for the same event, assuming that goes ahead 😂 . It's ridiculous and I think personally the event has become too big for the organisers. I'm kind of laughing about how silly it is right now, but yesterday I was as mad as a box of wasps. Good luck for Yeovil - at least that's one West Country event that got it right!
Hi Jai, John Zilly from Vimazi here. Thanks! We think they look pretty cool too. 😃 We are planning to make a Z80 model that would be tuned for 12-15 min/mile. Probably a year out, but stay tuned!
Great vid as usual Edd. The Vimazi shoes certainly look intriguing! As for the Von Bondies, I got into Pawn Shoppe Heart when it came out, but for some reason never checked out their first album. And I seem to recall a fracas between their singer and Jack White at some stage that may have resulted in a court case, but I am 41 and the memory slips a bit at this advanced age.
The Magic Speed has been my go-to since i got them so its a no brainer for me to get the Magic speed 2 (i cant also seem to drive my MS 1 to the ground so looks like they will overlap) . Another target is the Novablast 3 since i skipped the 1 and 2 (to replace the disaster called "not so invincible run" (the thing fell apart so fast ). I have a feeling 2022 will be another expensive year for me .
Edd, looking forward to your review of the Asics Magic Speed 2 and how it may compare with the Saucony endorphin speed. I love the idea of a training companion to the Asics Metaspeed Sky. Just PR'd a HM in the Metaspeed Sky for a 2nd time!
I’m excited to attend the BITR/ASICS event during the Boston Marathon weekend. Not only will the Sky (2?) be there but the Edge, which I’m curious about since I have a very high natural cadence. I’m also going to test the new Cumulus. Something interesting? The barely released ON Cloudmonster. When it comes up in a Yea or Nay for you, I highly recommend the affirmative. Abandon opinions of all ON shoes you’ve tried before and you’re in for a surprise. Martha
Hey Edd Bud Review Lovers, John Zilly from Vimazi here. Happy to answer any and all questions you have about our shoes. Let me know. And Edd, thanks for talking Vimazi and keeping us all fantastically entertained. Love your reviews!
I use Zwift when the local trails / paths are ice covered. It really makes running on the treadmill a challenge and satisfying when you run in a race. You can’t let that avatar just ahead of you cross before you!
Used the Magic Speed 1 on a 26.2 mile training run and felt I could do with a bit more cushioning. Perhaps the wrong shoe for that distance for my aged limbs, but version 2 with those changes looks very welcome to me.
Do you think that new shoe brand ties weight of runner to speed and possibly foot strike? That's a very interesting idea although they're going to have to have an amazing amount of stock
Hey Joe, John Zilly from Vimazi here. Yes, we take runner weight into account for sure. The forces you generate while you run primarily come from the speed you're running, but weight factors in. We make weight assumptions based on gender, shoe size, and pace zone for each of our shoes. Those assumptions should include about 85% of runners. Down the road we anticipate adding models to account for runners who are outside common weight ranges. For stock, we're launching with 6 models. Every major shoe brand has more than 6. The difference is that for other brands it's hard to know which model to run in. With Vimazi the choice you make is clear--you run in the shoe that's tuned for your pace. Easy to select, plus you get better cushioning and better performance.
Edd any plans on trying the Reebok float ride x? It’s their carbon racer. With your liking of others in the float ride series this is right up your alley. Interested to see how it would stack up. Especially at 170 us earth credits
I saw a lower metaspeed something which is going against the streakfly type of shoe (I believe) looked nice - (I now can’t find the post) also the guy in the zwift picture was wearing Nike pegs I hope that was just an old pic.
Coincidence- Just came back from a 5 mile Running Event 30 mins ago.. Took the Magic Speed 1. Hit my PB- 38:02 🤘 I would still prefer a max cushioned shoe for any race. It might be just me but, it feels like they just don't make that big a difference in your timings. The environment at the event will motivate you to push yourself that will compensate the difference between a tempo and a max cushion. PS- i have a GlideRide V2 and i love them !!
Qualified for this years Bath half as good for age which @ age 61 was a first for me but So disappointed when the March date was cancelled and couldn’t make the May date as on holiday. They offered me £5 off next years entry or refund 🤷🏼♂️ something very odd going on there. ??
Yeah, another annoyed Bath Halfer here. March was good, May so-so, October- ok if it happens, lol. Upside is that both niece and self have free BfA places (first ever BfA for me😃), so at least no money lost. But still vexatious.
Two thoughts about the Vimazi: 1) reckon they'll match Earth Credit for Dollar so the price here well be identical. 2) they are absolutely awful designs, I think. I'm a UK 12 and fear they'd resemble clown shoes at that size
Hey Gareth, John Zilly from Vimazi here. Not sure of the pricing yet in Europe. If you buy from our website, the price will be the same but the shipping will be high in the short term. We have a Scandinavian distributor who will have them for sale, but not sure about their prices yet. Looking for a UK distributor now! Sorry you're not loving our designs and colors. I've exhibited the shoes at a number of races, and people seem to like them in person. But we're definitely listening to all feedback, so keep it coming. By the way, I wear a size 14 (US)! 😂
@@talktozilly that's me shamed! Thanks for the reply and perhaps they do look better IRL! I'll keep an eye for UK distribution news to avoid the stupid tax that is Brexit!
Not excited by the new asics. Wish you'd stop flashing the metaspeed sky in that colourway behind you, like all the other shoe tubers. A shoe I really want, and which I cannot get. I hate the one that looks like the ice lolly. It's toooo briiiight.
@@EDDBUDis it??!! Not in the colourway you have. Personally I dislike the tutifruti one to be clear. But live the original I love.
