I agree. The metaspeed sky + feels slighty firmer then the original metaspeed sky. But the geometry of the metaspeed sky + is amazing when landing on the forefoot at 5-10km paces. If the foam was slightly softer the shoe would be my personal favourite, but for now the alphafly is my pick for racing.
Very exact description of different feels. FFTurbo is softer in v1 and the ride is more energetic. SKY+ is very bouncy but not so agressive and speedy than v1. Edge+ is more stable shoe and the feel is more efficient and less spectacular but just as effective and fast as the other two.
Matt, same as you, I was underwhelmed by the Edge+, especially after the awesome original Metaspeed Sky, which was my first supershoe (if you don't count the Endorphin Pro 1.) The Edge+ doesn't have any of the propulsive bounce I experienced from the Sky, Endorphin Pro 3, Vaporfly Next%2 or even the Endorphin Pro 1. The Edge+ feels smooth at all paces and my legs and feet feel good after using it for 18-20 mile long training runs. But after 80 miles I never got that fun superfoam sensation. All that stack but still feels low to the ground
I just tried the Magic 2 in the store and i find the magic 1 softer in the heel area and basically almost the same in the forefoot. But the upper of the 2 is just awesome when it comes to lockdown and secure feel (but thats just my me and my foot). I think Full blast+ with that upper geometry or a thicker blast + and thinner FF would have made it awesome (v1 just needed to be less jarring ) and i would not have minded a price increase .
I have both shoes and you are spot on, but for me I was able to use the Majic speed for longer 12-15 mile runs. Also, I like firm shoes but both are to firm IMO for my style of running. I did get a PB on a half race in the Metaspeed edge but was pretty beat up after the race Lol. Like it felt almost like a full marathon pounding. They fixed this with the paris I hope!!
Thank you for your great clip. You just confirmed my feelings about those two!
I have the magic 2.. it not feel firm to me.. it feel responsive.. i dont have the edge+ to compare it.. but compare with my other shoes magic 2 is the best..
can you run a full marathon in them? i want a shoe that can do it all.
Asics glideride 3 can do it all.. a non carbon plate shoes
@@dnegel9546 magic speed 2 only for 10k or HM..
@@bdanimation2801 ahh thanks. i only plan on running 5-10k max. are they good for long walks? 5-10miles?
@@bdanimation2801 what would you combine with the Glideride v3? I use the Nimbus 24 on easy days and want to add another shoe. So thinking Superblast or on eof these. Any input?
Would be cool to see a comparison between the new Magic Speed and the Edge+.
Thanks for the recap.
Don't you kinda need a little more compliance to feel the greater resilience of the foam?
can you do comparison with Hyper Speed 2
I realy liked the Nike Zoomfly Flyknite. Do you think that the Asisc Magic Speed 2 is somehow similar?
I think you’re been unfair to the meta speed sky + because it doesn’t work for you. Iv got the the edge plus and the sky plus and I’m the opposite the edge plus doesn’t work for me , it’s a okay shoe but doesn’t feel anything special I do agree that it would be better if foams where softer and had more rebound but there still soft and bouncy as they are.
Iv set both my 5k and 10k pr’s in the sky plus I also have the Vapourfly, alphafly addisas and saucony pro 3s so I think i have the basis to make a fair comparison.
I think the sky plus is comparable to any other brands carbon shoes just some shoes work better at different paces and distances then others .
@Steve H , thanks for taking the time to comment - so how would you compare Edge+ & Sky+ to previous Sky and the Vaporfly, Alphafly, Pro 3 - over various distances and paces - which would you use over 5K, 10K, HM and Mara?
@@bartekzielinski1645 hi I think you could use all those shoes at all the distances but the Vapourfly is the best 5 k shoe because it works the best at speed but you really have to run hard to get in that pace sweet spot I imagine the fitter you are and the longer you can keep up a fast pace the better It is over longer distances.
The sky plus is lot more forgiving then the Vapourfly and the pace sweet spot is wider.
I think the vapourfly is out right faster but the sky Plus almost feels more efficient and makes it feels like its takes less effort to run fast. It’s good at 5k But it’s my pick for 10k maybe a half marathon
The endorphin pro plus feels very soft bouncy and comfortable and very fast too
It’s probably the most versatile super shoe it feels great at any pace from recovery up to threshold , you could use it everyday.
Id probably pick this for half marathon or full marathon but could easily do 5k ,10k no problem
The alphafly v1 or 2 feel very propulsive and super soft but also has a little firmness from the air pods at the front for toe off
They are a bit much shoe for me to run my fasted paces in they almost feel like a less fast vapourfly but the pace sweet spot requires less effort to get too so over the longer distance is faster
I’d probably pick this for a full marathon maybe a half
The adidas pro 3 Iv only ran in once so far but first impression was it was a really nice shoe but didn’t feel as propulsive as the others and didn’t feel as fast as the Vapourfly or as soft and bouncy as endorphin pro 3 but need more running in adidas .
@@steveh8758 great summary of each shoe - thank you for taking the time to post.
I've run in the original Sky, Vaporfly 1 & 2, Alphafly 1, New Balance RC Elite 2.
Agree with your pace / distance breakdowns by shoe.
I would add type of surface you'll need to run on, as well as the course's changes of direction and elevation - as variables worth considering before selecting a pair of shoes.
@@bartekzielinski1645 that’s true I wouldn’t consider the alphafly on anything other then the road plus don’t think you get the benefits of the plates when not on road
In the wet I’m not really sure what super shoes has the best grip what are your thoughts ?
And I haven’t really thought about what shoe is best up hill although I think alphafly ran well do you have a favourite for hilly races ?
@@steveh8758 I think the best grip is on the original Sky.
And self correction on hills - going up and down probably makes no difference shoe wise - but when it comes to turning, especially u-turns, Alphas are not ideal - they excel at everything else though!
Hi, I run the Valencia half marathon this Sunday. I’ve done only 5k on the new Metaspeed Edge, in a workout of 3k at tempo effort and an interval of 2k. They felt good but a bit unstable on the ankle for me, compared to the Hoka Rocket x which I’ve been training. Would you recommend to race with the Edge or stick to the shoe I’ve been doing these longer efforts? I’m worried the super shoe blocks my quads as it did happened with the adios pro 2 last year, even though I know they are different shoes. Thanks.
Same comment with adios, its also harsher than other shoes in the category
Felt like it's uncomfortable to wear the magic speed 2 due to its firm ride same with an adidas boston shoe. It's not good for runners with foot that have a high arch.
Hello. Is there a big difference in cushioning between the two models? thank you
How does it compare to Boston 10? 😂
