Absolutely.. "tame a wild horse" is the best to explain this shoe.. took a bit of run to get what the shoe is going to deliver. when the time comes, it was excellent. breeze thru the upper, the grip is wonderful.. the lock for me is excellent as well.. i dont think i need a racing shoe as this one can deliver.
I just got a pair of magic speed 2 in wide because I’m a extremely wide footed in the toe box and these felt perfect on foot I can’t wait to take them on a run walking around the house feels higher then normal running shoes but these are the first carbon plated shoes that didn’t feel tight on foot and didn’t cost over 150 dollars
Interesting comment in vid about shoe slap - have not tried the Magic Speed 2 but I definitely get some in the Novablast 3 but not as much the Adios 6 - can be 'annoying' until I tune out!
Taming Wild Horses! Excellent video from the "fleet footed big foot." 👌 ASICS must do a size 13 in the their Meta Speed Sky in 2023! If 2022 was where the Endorphin range stuck its self forwards then surely Asics and NB will be strongly focusssed on ensuring they are offering a premier "range" in 2023. Impression is you think think this is a tad firmer and faster than the Endorphin Speed 3. It appeared others thought the Pro 3 pipped the Meta Speed Sky on energy return but it also looks as though Asics and Adidas have better grip? The Superblast and Nova blast are great shoes so clearly Asics are in there. Unsure as don't own all of these trainers? Be interested to see others views on this.
Thank you 🙏 yeah you’ve pretty much summed it up perfectly there 👍 I have the novablast yes but the superblast only goes up to size 12, I can’t get it in my size sadly
I loved the Meta Speed Sky, not tried the magic speed yet but keen to. For me the Meta Speed Sky I preferred to the Endorphin Pro 3, I have both but the pro 3 I feel it’s just a bit to soft and I’ve been feeling the plate in the pro 3. Think I’m gonna have to try the magic speed now after this review
@@TheFODRunner don’t get me I do like the pro, but I was disappointed that I’ve felt the plate in my last two marathon paced long runs, I did a 19 miler on Monday and in the last mile the under foot feeling was hurting.
I sent my pair back. I'm a big fan of the first Magic speed, but this one was a step back for me, plus I got some pain in my left foot. Feels clunky compared with v.1
I liked the first version too and it was spot on for me with the partial plate. This feels more clunky with the full length and it worked fine for shorter runs but for longer runs didn't feel very comfortable after around 15kms or so. Never had that for v1 and got it upto 20 miles without any issues !!
Yeah more similar to speed 2 than 3! The plate is very “strong” and “rigid” in this one so you’d notice a big difference in how the feet move through the gait cycle, the tempo without a plate is a bit more natural whereas this really rolls you through
is it good to have both the ASICS Novablast 3 and the magic speed 2 in a rotation? so magic speed 2 for speed session/tempos and race day whilst Novablast for easy and light running (daily trainer)
[deletes comment about Hyperion] I'm interested about using plated shoes in training rotation. I know Seth DeMoor tries to avoid, thinking it means it's him doing all the work and getting the plate boost in the races, how often will you build these into your schedule? I'm aware how dull this question is but that's what I've become apparently.
Yeah 💯 mate and I agree with this a lot…. This week for example I’ll use a plated shoe 3 times, just because I’m testing this shoe out in a variety of runs… on a normal week I’d only look to use it once a week ideally… sometimes twice but usually once, the rest I like to do in non plated shoes, I have a theory that it tampers with our biomechanics as our natural footstrike is “taken away” and we are forced into a different footstrike which is guided by a plate… no longer do you land “outside of the foot, roll in and use your big toe for toe off” but it’s a more flat footed approach due to the plate restricting movement
@@TheFODRunner thank you, that's really interesting. I agree and tend to go a bit further in that I'm mainly using the heavier more cushioned shoes for the bulk of my runs. A noticeable difference for the legs when treated to a lightweight shoe, let alone one with a plate!
Bought these this week and have done two minor sessions so far. I bought them for workout training. After trying lots of trainers over the last year I really like the Glideride 3 for easy days so hoped the Magic Speed 2 would bridge the gap between easy days and my few race days which I have the Endorphin Pro 3 for. To give some context I'm a 100kg 52 year runner who only having really started running regularly in the last couple years. Did my first half marathon last year 1.53 and a recent 5k of 22.52. My easy days are around 6min ks and threshold 5min ks. Anyway I took a risk here as I generally have been using more cushioned shoes due to heel issues (probably weight related). I also had calf issues when I first started running. I have the Speed 1, 2, and 3. Liked the first 2 but I find the 3 sloppy and dead. Can't run fast in them as you said and it's a boring cruiser. So I decided to try these as something firmer for faster days with a bit of trepidation. My first run was a 25 min 5k cruise and to be honest I was surprised how easily I ticked along without much effort. The upper is so good and I don't notice it's there. The shoe makes you roll through the forefoot and I found my stride to be very efficient and I wasn't overstriding like I can do in bouncier shoes. Despite being firm they were comfortable and I was really surprised how fresh my lower legs felt straight after. And the morning after! I then ran some mixed paces the following day and whilst not feeling great at slower paces they weren't uncomfortable and I just felt like I wanted to go faster in them. I think these are going to be great for workouts but not so sure about longer runs but definitely tempo and threshold runs. Really makes me want to get the Sky plus now but they are never on sale! I bought these for £99 from Sportsshoes.
I'd love to see a comparison between this one and the novablast 3. The novablast 3 is already a somewhat firm shoe, am I correct in thinking that the magic speed 2 feels a bit more like the zoom fly 4 when it comes to firmness/rigidity?
i refuse to keep paying big money on "eva" shoes...all big brands turning to tpu/e or peba/x nitro or supercritical new nimbus made of "eva" coming out at 205 euros ! no way
Just bought my second pair after 300 miles. Some absolutely smashing deals out there right now since v3 came out.

Glad you like it as well!
Love this shoe. Good improvement over version 1 and I found it softens up a good bit after about 60km.
Yes I’m appreciating the changes from v1 for sure!

I found the replacement for my Nike Zoom Fly 5: Asics Magic Speed 2. A lighter alternative.
Your form is looking good bro!!!
Thanks! Working hard on it!
Thought you prefer more toe room like "a good thumb width" Novablast 2 provided in your TTS.

Yeah my novablast are a bit noisy too!
I've had these in my hands a few months ago and I've never tried a stiffer shoe than this one. I wasn't even able to bend it in my hands!
Yeah the plate is very stiff, you definitely feel it when running!
Taming Wild Horses!

Yes feels much more like the zoom fly in terms of firmness compared to the novablast
Nice review. Looking for a HM/ tempo/ threashold/ parkrun training shoe. Is there a better shoe out there for £90?
I think the speed 3 is still on discount for a similar price so those two are both great options! sportsshoes have them on offer currently 👍
Good for 1/2 training, all the way up to race day?
For me, most definitely 👍
Nice
What would you recommend for a beginner runner with shin pain when running? TIA
See a physio, if it’s shin splints then there’s plenty of foot and Achilles stretches you can do that can help 💪
@@TheFODRunner thanks! I bought the ASICS GEL-CUMULUS 25 WOMEN'S RUNNING SHOES - SS23 today and I’ve found they’ve helped massively :)
How many miles do you reckon they would last
Really too early too tell but I’d be happy with 300/400 miles personally 👍
Did i miss where you said you bought it from? for that price its a bargain
So sorry, no I was an idiot and didn’t mention it, sportsshoes have them for £99 and I got an extra 10% club discount 👍
@@TheFODRunner Brilliant thank you will put in a order even love that green colour
Vs the zoom fly 5?;)
Zoom fly is heavier but smoother than this… this is lighter and faster but a bit more unstable, the plate makes this one feel firmer
Thank you!
