Sienna, THANK YOU so much for letting us ride along with you!!! It has been spectacular to watch you progress and literally grow up to become an awesome and serious pilot. We cannot wait for your solo flight....I'm sure you NAILED it!!!
My solo was the most exciting and rewarding accomplishment I had ever achieved! I completed my first solo on April 13 2024 with a little over 30 hrs. and now I am about to do my 150 nm XC solo tomorrow July 13 2024! Keep up the hard work Sienna, your Landings are looking good! Can’t wait to see the solo video!
Sienna, thank you so much for sharing this journey with us! I have so enjoyed watching the entire process. Good luck with your solo and I look forward to watching the video! You got this!
Hey Sienna, been following along and learning with you every step of the way. Just soloed yeasterday (8july24) so hope you have by the time you see this. You guys have been really inspiring and helpful so thanks for that.
Hi Sennna, Having gone through your journey with you virtually, I had a buddy in HS that I flew a lot with when he was working on his PPL. He did great and is a very good and safe pilot! I see the satme kind of attention to detail and professionalism he had in you!!! Keep doing what you are doing and you will be great!!!
I think she could work on having a aiming point, preferably the runway numbers. I get why your not having her aim at the numbers and round out, due to it being your plane and most students usually flare too much at first and it causes some hard landings/balloning but it’s an important skill to learn to not glide onto the runway and rather pick a landing spot. But I don’t think it will ever be a problem because of the Cessna size but it’s a really important skill to learn since it applies to all citations, and if she ever wanted to move into the commercial side of aviation.
I just passed my private checkride and this is an issue that I have had and I needed to fix it quickly before my checkride. I would just touchdown anywhere pretty much. Going forward I’m going to be more disciplined on picking out a point and touching down in that area.
Remember your A.B.C.D.E. in a emergency A. Airspeed B. Best field C. Check list (memory items) D. Declare emergency E. Egress Looking good captain sienna. Solo time and cross country time next. Have fun 🎉
My solo was uneventful. My instructor was basically quiet leading up to the solo like you were. So the solo was like my instructor sitting next to me and saying nothing. She'll nail it
We have been pretty much in lock step so far. I have two up on you now. When I solo'ed I talked to my instructor as if he was there for the first landing cause you know the first one is pretty nervous. After that I just did it like I had been doing it for a while. Good luck girl. You got this for sure.
Love this channel. My 15 year old son is learning to fly at a local flight school with his own great instructor. Thanks for sharing her journey! Side question: where can I purchase one of those heading compasses that we see at the top of the cockpit window? I want one for my son’s car when he turns 16.
Sienna you are doing great girl. We have enjoyed watching your flight training. Your going to do great. Wish you the best on your solo flight. Stay calm and you'll do great. We just came back from Cooper Center Alaska. I got to fly a Maule M-5. What a beast of a plane. Alaska is so beautiful. Learned a lot from watching you train Sienna. I'm not a pilot. Just applied what I learned from your channel. Thanks stay safe up there guy's
👏🏼 Congrats Sienna!!!! I’m curious to know how many flight hours she’s at now. I have my admissions flight tomorrow and I look forward to getting to where she’s at!
May just be how the camera makes it look but do you not use 30 degree flaps on landing ? If not curious why you do not ? Like these videos hope to see the solo soon.
I know its not necessary and it's expensive but is repainting or touching up the paint in future plans? Love the color but it would really pop and stand out with touch up
I've thought of it. The idea of touching it up isn't really compelling. Some day I'll have it totally repainted and done over. That's what it really needs.
Great job Sienna! You got this!!! It's the day you become a pilot, everything after is just government paper! Enjoy it, make smart safe decisions, and always remember you can Go Around!
Dear Sienna- you have a responsibility, nay, a duty, to scream “clear” so loudly that Chris loses his mind. To do otherwise is a disservice to him and to us. Signed… us. 😜 Congrats! What a journey. Looking forward to that solo video!
Why does take a whole YEAR from the start to first solo flight in US? In Europe after my 12 hours of flying I did my first solo flight. First flight being on 1st of August and first solo flight on 22nd August last year. I have seen individuals on social media taking 50+ hours to have first solo flight, which is ridiculous to me. EASA PPL(A) minimum flight hours is 45! It is not me being exemplary individual, but in my whole country it is standard after 12 hours or so up to 20 max in worst case scenario to have first solo flight. Can someone explain me this why is this case?
It's not related to being in the US. As you probably know, it may take a few more hours for a student to demonstrate they can safely operate an aircraft solo. Perhaps it takes a year for the twice-a-month flyer, or 9 hours for the 5 days-a-week flyer. Putting a time limit on flight training is borderline dangerous if you have someone that isn't ready and being pressured to complete the solo. Can I assume you have a "standard" because you learned to fly in a structured training program? Most of us are just learning at our own pace, as the $$ allows and each individual's pace may be different.

Congratulations, Sienna! Absolutely thrilled for you! Thanks for letting us ride along!🥰

Her face on final all the way through the touchdown is just pure focus. Majority of it is looking outside too.

Is the indicator on the dash a glide slope indicator?
It's an Angle of Attack (AOA) indicator.
May just be how the camera makes it look but do you not use 30 degree flaps on landing ? If not curious why you do not ? Like these videos hope to see the solo soon.
I often use 20 degrees with my students. Haven't found too many pros or cons.
I know its not necessary and it's expensive but is repainting or touching up the paint in future plans? Love the color but it would really pop and stand out with touch up

I can't figure out how to use super thanks
Bummer. I found it pretty straight forward.
Girl power!!
How many hours is she at for solo?
I'd have to look.
Get that girl into a taildragger! She is a star!
That would be great.
She is becoming a professional fast
No problem being a professional at the PPL level.
Have you prepared her for how how different the 172 will feel with your (not inconsiderable) weight not in the right seat? 😜
Nope! 🤪

I live in the United States and did my solo in one month. It all depends how fast you progress and your access to a plane
it’s not a USA thing, it took me a total of 8 weeks to get my ppl at 49 hours. It just depends on how proficient you are.
You're seeing the release timeframe of videos, with a lot of other details missing as well.
