  • This game has a postgame that I was originally going to play, but I don't think I enjoyed it enough to want to play more. Honestly, given that I played most of this game on superspeed except to record the boss fights, I think I probably got bored around Gym 2 and somehow didn't notice it until a few gyms later and at that point sunk cost myself into at least finishing main game before quitting.
Conceptually this was an interesting hack when I first saw it posted, but when I first tried it I felt like in practice I wouldn't actually enjoy it much and dropped it around Roark. For some reason a few weeks later I ignored that intuition and did this run, and it turns out I was right.
The original draw for me was the modified storyline, as I thought this would be more heavily modified to follow more of the anime plotline, but instead it was more like just normal Platinum with a couple of extra boss battles tacked on, which wasn't really what I was looking for. Game was also insanely laggy at parts and a bunch of stuff felt either kinda broken or only halfway modified.
I don't really have complaints about the battles themselves, they're definitely the best part of the hack. I'd say at some point the standard trainer battles do get extremely tedious imo which was a big part of why I stopped finding this that fun but I think I enjoyed the bosses for the most part. None of them were super frustrating and most were fairly fun to figure out and rarely took more than one attempt, maybe two or three max. I think most of the frustration and tedium came from the fact that everything I had was basically always substantially worse than any enemy mon, since I basically got detrimental natures on many things along with 10-15 IV range (or worse) for so many things I was using. That being said, I did just roll with it because I was lazy and found ways around it (or rolled with luck when I got it) for most of the game since I couldn't be bothered grinding for encounters with better stats. Until I got to the E4 and just wanted to be done with the game and was sick of a mid-tier mon outspeeding my fast ones for the 500th time and wasn't about to go actually grind for not terrible IVs/natures so that planning wasn't obnoxious and just hexed them for the final couple battles. Regardless, actually planning them out was still interesting.
tl;dr battles decently made, bosses especially bc the normal trainers do get quite tedious. if that's what you're looking for might be worth playing for you but personally i don't have it in me to slog through a whole postgame more of this and catch a bunch of legendaries and stuff as well

silk scarf stab adaptability hyper beam is literally the exact same damage range as 4x ice beam, this pory-z just has the lowest spatk and low rolled but this is such a weird thing to be upset about either way

I hate what romhacks like this do to the E4. It's just a mess of a team. Like birtha with a clrfable is akward as hell.

it's very weird because I think it's fine to do stuff like that where you deviate from the monotype if you have a good theme (like in Aaron's case I think adding rain for bugs makes sense, then since the room has rain throw in a Kabutops since it's insect-looking and then the only real weird thing is the Ludicolo) but Bertha's theme just seems to be stuff that's immune to Sandstorm either by type or Magic Guard so the Clefable and Zam just feel tacked on. I think part of it is also iconic Pokemon from Sinnoh E4 members just getting randomly shuffled around here (Bertha has Zam instead of Lucian, I can't even tell what the theme of Lucian's team is supposed to be, Flint stole Rhyperior for Bertha because he has a sun team kind of and that helps with one of its 4x weaknesses? I have no idea why he has a Rhyperior)

@@icewave_ EXACTLY! I loved that Arron had a kaputops in rain. His whole theme looked savanna like anyway. But Lucian with Dragonite is really awkward and I dislike it immensely

@@liquids_death2787 Yeah for sure, even if Bertha/Flint were kinda awkward in execution here I can at least see they were supposed to be based around the weathers, but it didn't seem like there was any real concept behind Lucian's team so he just kept half his Psychics and then the other half were just random good Pokemon that don't have any real reason to be there

Clefable was inserted there because it has Magic Guard which makes it immune to Sandstorm damage.
