Thanks for doing the research and giving us empirical evidence of how parts actually perform in real world situations. You’ve helped me with numerous add-on purchases for my Tundra by taking out the legwork from my side. Thanks. Keep up the great channel.
Love it! Thank you for helping me build my dream truck. I’m still on the fence about the SC 🤔, but this channel has helped me in my Tundra build FOR SURE.
I'm glad I've come across your channel. Keep doing what you're doing...these trucks have a lot of potential and happy to see your build...beautiful truck
ok i’m glad that I found this video, I have a 2018 Platinum Tundra with a 6” Pro Comp Lift on Fuel Mavericks with 35” Nitto Mud Grapplers and my MPG is 8.5. I can’t wait to get this super and see what my difference is and how much I save in gas
Torn between the new grill. Back and forth between which is more awesome. Excited to see if there is any difference between the computer and old fashioned way. I suspect there is, but less than 2mpg. Nice videos, awesome truck, great wife, sweet life! Keep smiling bro! 😁
Can't wait to see the pump calculation, I do expect the computer to be slightly off. The trip computers on TFL are usually optimistic so you probably get 18-20 mpg mixed and probably around 20-22 for your highway trip.
THANK YOU!!! This morning found the muffler shop that would do custom dual exhaust. Had flowmaster 50 series dual in dual Out with stainless steal tips just in front of passenger rear tire and back end of side step. Sounds terrific. Best part of the all stainless system $380 inc all of the system welded. Will try putting up a photo on insta gram.
James Miyake James just a little. But not to bad. Exhaust tips comes out in front of rear passenger side. Wonder if I gotten it put in the original position what the difference be. Since it’s a shorter system now.
Yeah, you can definitely tell who gives TFL more trucks...and probably more bonuses. When they used the Tundra to tow that old beater up the mountain to see how good the towing was, they didn't even set the brake controller...which the Ram didn't have at all. They took temp readings at the brake rotors on both trucks and you can imagine how accurate the results were when they weren't even using one of the features of the Tundra!
Waiting on the pump calculations. I use Fuely app and it tracks pump to pump. Getting average of 12.5 mpg with my Tundra. :-) (Hauling a boat or camper most the summer)
Awesome video! Looking forward to the hand calculations. It might help justify the cost over the long haul. So, I love your informative videos, I just received my 17 TRD PRO that will be parked outside same as yours I believe. I am a detail freak and not too happy the truck needs to be outside. Is it possible for you to look into getting a ceramic pro paint protection done? It's about $2k to get done and supposedly you don't have to wash your truck nearly as much! I am really searching for an unbiased no bullshit review!
As always, great video. I want to supercharge my 2017 Limited but need to put the kids through college first. Have you considered upgrading the sound system?
Not sure if you remember my set up, but I will give it a quick run down. 2016 Tundra SR5 XSPX. The only extras that I have on it currently is the TRD dual Exhaust and a TRD intake. I also put the sway bar and a 3 x 2 leveling kit on it. I have been thinking about the super charger for about 4 or 5 months now. My MPG is currently around 16.2 all round. What is the biggest single positive and negative that you have experienced with your supercharger added? Also, the best price that I have found the Magnuson supercharger for is about $6500, do you know of a lower price available. Thanks, as always for the advice. Carter
+David Carter Positive: Completely changes the truck, all power and smiles Negative: just the thought of if it breaks lol. I used sparks parts which is right around that price if u use my promo code. They do everything with them so they are very knowledgeable
Just to be sure I’d check with Toyota to see what they say is the mpg reading is altered in any way. If they say No then I’d say wow what a huge improvement.
Im scratching my head here at your MPG. Ive had my 16 CM for 15000 miles and do mostly city driving. I log my fuel mileage every week and the best I have gotten is around 14.
Ive also noticed the odometer and the computer do not agree. I have 34" tires on my truck and the odometer says around 13.5 on average but the computer is throwing 15-17 on average.
I have tried the computer and have gotten as much as 19 MPG for a straight run on the highway, but it was not accurate. For at the end of a 20 gallon run the computer said 15.5 mpg but my odometer said 13.5. This same thing happens every time I retest with a 20 gallon fill up. I can only assume its the computer that is off. Try using a few fill ups with just the odometer and let me know if you see the same result.
I find it funny that when you have fun with the truck the mpg goes up fast. But when I'm on the highway it takes a long time to come back down. I just hit reset for highway if I want it more accurate.
It's a sad world we live in where you have apologize or explain why or how or even have to justify why you do what what you do. I have 70k in my 2018 Tundra Platinum Crewmax & it's not lifted, not lifted & has no performance enhancements yet. And.... I'm not rich. I'm a professional truck driver. I plan on 40k of more upgrades & I get no money from anyone or anywhere other than my job. So.... it's not impossible. It's called go to work everyday, work over time, save your money and great credit. Your viewers must be a bunch of lazy cry baby butt hurt punks to give you crap about what you do. Great vid btw. I'm planning a Magnusson Supercharger too plus more performance upgrades. Never thought better MPG was part of the equation. But that is definitely a plus.
That figure is just too hard to believe. I can't be certain until I see the TFL style test. I hope that is accurate and you are not getting a false reading due to the increase of air . Truck is looking good tho Video idea: Can you hook up with a Toyota dealer and do a night time side by side comparison with the 2017 headlights vs 2018. I'm really wanting them too but not for the looks, I want brighter lights. Tell Frank it could be used as a selling point for the 2018's if they are significantly better.
I'm exactly at 16 mpg as well, waiting intently on your hand calculation numbers.... if these pan out you will be absolutely killing my pocket book Mark....
Obviously fuel economy isn't the primary reason you'd get a supercharger but, at 16 MPG before Supercharger installation and 22 MPG after installation, it will take about 160,000 miles to make the money back through the improved fuel efficiency, (assuming fuel at $3.00 / gallon). I have a new 4Runner (4.0L V6) and I know the numbers wouldn't be exactly the same but I plan on having this vehicle well beyond 200k. I think I'd get one if it were a bit cheaper and I was confident it wouldn't hurt the reliability.
Hey I was wondering if you ever tow trailers with the chundy? I'm looking at going to a diesel but love my toyota, could this be an Avenue around parting with my beloved gasser?
Do you know of a turbo kit for the Tundra? I'm an ecoboost hater myself, but wouldn't the turbo be more efficient at applying the same amount of boost as the supercharger?
You have to wonder why the OEM’s don’t go ahead and put stock super chargers in their trucks if they add more horsepower and better fuel efficiency. Has to boil down to the reliability otherwise they would produce a ton and sell a ton.
+Ryan Crook i think theres way more consumers out there that want naturally aspirated engines. Like I always say, theres a big taboo when it comes to forced induction
Ate you getting stupid comments? You don't need to explain yourself, some people just don't get it🤤. Just keep on doing what you're doing👍, the one's that do understand what you're doing, we enjoy it! I like watching other people spend their money! 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Luv ya brother. Thanks for every idea. I want to do this when I am in a position with my 1794 with Ted parts. My only question is if like my man Mike in Pittsburgh who got his first Mercedes got engine water locked and it was $70,000 for a new engine from Germany. How would you have handled that situation?
put a travel trailer on that thing and see how it does. i recently purchased a 2010 tundra because of the toyota name. it has a lot of upgrades done to it. I have an 18 ft toy hauler that weighd oproxitmitly 2300 lbs then add my bikes and gear i will go a little high and say 3500 lbs total, gas mileage while pulling this 5.8 mpg at 65 mph. now i wish i never got it. oh i forgot the truck only has 78000 miles on it.
TundraDude34 it has a volant cool air intake and it looks like some exhaust work had been done to it. where the 2 go into the muffler it's 3 inch exhaust from there back. it is sitting 5 35s but it shouldn't make that much of a difference. i took it on the freeway the other day by itself and it was getting around 12 mpg according to the display.
Wow. Definitely impressed. But can't wait to see the hand calculation to see how accurate it actually is!! But it's sad you have to get a super charger to compete with my rams hemi!! Lol jk 😜
TundraDude34 hey we still need to see the hand calculations before you can call a win on mpg lol. Hopefully I get a chance to pro charge my ram at some point lol. Kinda hard to pay for on a 22 year olds budget haha
Toyota has the tech to kick a raptors ass. I have a raptor....but for the life of me I can not figure out why they discontinued the supercharger....that was dumb. The only truck I would get besides mine is a Toyota....but as long as the lack the power, I’ll pass.
TundraDude34 awesome, just earned a subscriber. I have an 07 XSP 5.7L DBL Cab. My SC Wil lbe here in a few days and the wait is kiiiiillllling me!!!! I may do a channel on calculations and performance as well. Not for the fame, but for our Toyota Brothers and sister as well.
16 to 22!! Thank me later!!
Thank you for doing this build for the channel! It is great to see the various options, and how they work out. Keep up the good work!
+Timothy Ames thanks Tim!

Man I wish my tundy got that mileage
Your truck is awesome and ya channel is on my watch list when I get a break
+Anthony Mcgovern 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yes you do have a loyal following. Love what you do with the tundra/tundras.
+R. Baltazar thanks!
Wow! Just wow, what an impressive difference! In the long run the money you save on gas the supercharger will pay for itself!! Nice work 👌
+Alvin Nguyen 👍🏼👍🏼
Torn between the new grill. Back and forth between which is more awesome. Excited to see if there is any difference between the computer and old fashioned way. I suspect there is, but less than 2mpg. Nice videos, awesome truck, great wife, sweet life! Keep smiling bro! 😁
+Jon R. Haha thanks!
Dude, I am seriously jealous of your truck. It is a beauty!
+Graham Clarence lol build one 👍🏼
Can't wait to see the pump calculation, I do expect the computer to be slightly off. The trip computers on TFL are usually optimistic so you probably get 18-20 mpg mixed and probably around 20-22 for your highway trip.

Asaf Farfar drone?
James Miyake very slight.
+Asaf Farfar thats great!

TFL doesn’t she our tundras much love.... sweet truck man
But I think the platinum grill looked nicer 😜👍🏻
+Anthony Mcgovern stoooooop, really??

+Tom Moser not bad at all
You're telling me I can have more hp and better mpg? I'm sorry....whaaaaat?
Awesome video! Looking forward to the hand calculations. It might help justify the cost over the long haul. TundraDude34 Thanks!
I just spent the money and thought it was more than reasonable.👍🏻👍🏻
As always, great video. I want to supercharge my 2017 Limited but need to put the kids through college first. Have you considered upgrading the sound system?
+Jack Wilson i love the JBL system
Great video just curious how you felt when you had the trd intake? Is it worth it? Did youv sell your when you had the supercharger installed?
+Derrick Peek i like it alot. It definitely has a nice sound to it. Yep, it went when the supercharger was installed
Have you upgraded the interior lighting to led bulbs? Looking for a good set but so many options out there
Dude it’s whatever floats your boat it’s your truck so do whatever makes you happy ✌️
+Shawn Langford thanks!
Which style of supercharger did you use for this setup? Nice truck
Have you thought about checking cylinder temp and comparing to stock numbers?
Also could you do a 5000 lb tow test including MPG
Love your videos. So do you have a "before and after" 0-to-60 sec on this Tundra and the super-charger.
+Wilson Boudreaux havent done a 0-60 with the supercharger yet
Not sure if you remember my set up, but I will give it a quick run down. 2016 Tundra SR5 XSPX. The only extras that I have on it currently is the TRD dual Exhaust and a TRD intake. awesome looking truck...need to black out the headlight or retrofitted headlight with led
+Tommy Hopper that I definitely do
Im scratching my head here at your MPG. Ive had my 16 CM for 15000 miles and do mostly city driving. I log my fuel mileage every week and the best I have gotten is around 14.

I have a black 17 crew max try off road. love the wheels you have on this truck what are they? thinking about putting 275/70/18 BFG all terrain on it.
+William Knight the wheels are Ultra “Phantoms” 👍🏼

How much weight do you want to tow regularly?
Yea I wanna see the pump calculation. Mine is stock and seams to show about 1 MPG more than I get with my figures
+CamperMike this Saturday 👍🏼
Do you know of a turbo kit for the Tundra? I'm an ecoboost hater myself, but wouldn't the turbo be more efficient at applying the same amount of boost as the supercharger?
+MrHevelifter i dont know of any kits but turbos scare me. Way too unreliable
I am exactly the same mpg wise by the trucks computer.
+Tundra Guy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I’m getting 13.8 average city/Hwy and about 15 Hwy, 2017 Platinum Pro Crewmax, 285/20’s.
+J Pic right around the avg

What TD34 said and you do not realize how on the whole value be damned cheap people are and 5-7k to the sticker would drive customers away in droves.
Know anyone who has changed the rear end gears to something taller 3.55 3.73 4.10 etc. ? Just curious if it makes a difference on mpg.
I get 13 or 11 on my 2021 Stock Tundra trd sport 4×4
Ate you getting stupid comments? You don't need to explain yourself, some people just don't get it🤤. Just keep on doing what you're doing👍, the one's that do understand what you're doing, we enjoy it! I like watching other people spend their money! 😂😂😂👍👍👍

+Kyle Keiper the lift & oversized tires destroy mpg when towing. I dealt with that in my 09
Damn.... Supercharger pays for itself..... Thanks!!!!!!!!!
+Al Wong 👍🏼
What brand is the supercharge that you installed?
Magnuson
@@TundraDude34 thank you!
Looks like you need a new camera. Things are moving around in the background.
+Patrick Erhardt trippy right??
Wow. Definitely impressed. But can't wait to see the hand calculation to see how accurate it actually is!! But it's sad you have to get a super charger to compete with my rams hemi!! Lol jk 😜

Definitely dude! Thanks for subscribing 🤙🏼
What fuel do you use?
In that video, the supercharger requires 93 octane
@TundraDude34 just got a 2010 tundra with a magnerson supercharger and the dealership told me it use regular gas
@Blue_Basin might want to put in a call to magnuson on that one.
Callaway Chevrolet cost 80
Shelby ford cost 99
Mag tundra cost 70
Rousch F150 cost 85
Your doing fine to my calculations
+Darren Wilson haha there ya have it!
I wish I had a regular job lol
Get one 👍🏼
Im getting the ZR2
+saltwater210 you should
Too much talking
You sound like my wife 😁
