    In hot climates, I would choose the 1794 because of the tan leather. It would be less hotter than the black. Experience has thought me that a black interior retains heat and makes your air conditioning work harder.

    I love,love my 2017 Tundra 1794 mica (Rootbeer) exterior with the western look interior I get a lot of compliments. I put on trd dual exhaust ,air intake ,turn all my interior lights led as well exterior and puddle lights and having fun doing it since I’m retired feel like a kid all over

    I own the 2014 mica gold 1794 with the 20 " alloy wheels (not chrome). The only things I want to change are the fake wood inserts on the doors and dash, for real, or at least a more realistic looking wood. My cousin has a black platinum. I like everything on that except for the quilted pattern on the leather seats and dash. For the earlier F-150 fan that commented: I'm coming from a F-150 that was great, BUT...I was constantly having to fix something. Always something. My Tundra? 4 years in of troublefree driving and only scheduled/routine maintenance. Great job, Tundradude34! I really enjoy your channel.

    Thank Mr. TundraDUde34 for this videos. I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra TSS. I took my tundra for service and I was offer a deal to trade in my truck for an upgrade. I didn't know what were the difference between the Limited , 1794 and Platinum. I really liked the interior of the 1794 but I dont like chrome on the outside of the truck. After watching this video I've made my decision what truck to purchase. Also I took a look at the sparks parts site to purchase parts for the truck when I purchase it. Thank you!

    Question; Can you order a Tundra exactly the way you want it? Years ago you could not. Only option was a dealer search. I prefer the Platinum. The exterior wins me over.

    I bought the 2018 1794 because I loved the interior. I did change out the door handles and mirror covers from chrome to black and I got them from sparksparts with the discount. I love the truck and found that the brown leather seats are much cooler the the black ones in the California weather. The black just gets too hot. I switched out my stock whells and tires for a set of fuel 20' wheels with 295 Toyo open country tires. Great set up.

    I’d assume there’s an option to get rid off all chrome on the 1794, especially the grille and the vented area. I know the handles, mirror caps can be altered but how easy would it be to color match the entire front of the 1794, and do you think it’s possible?

  • @shawnjoe1043

    I agree with you 100% I started by not comparing apples to apples. I wanted a 2018/19 2500 Denali HD with the durmax. Then I rode in my cousins tundra crew max. I was beyond surprised. Now I’m looking at 2019 tundras when they hit the lot down the road in 2 weeks. I want a 1794 interior and I want all the chrome to be blacked out like the platinum. I also would like the tdr parts minus the front sway bar. I will be adding the supercharger from the start. I really would like to wait for the total redesign but not sure if it will ever happen. I wish they had better electronics inside. I heard the tdr pro will have a jbl audio system. Not sure that’s an upgrade but it’s start in the right direction. Any of you supercharger guys know about the warranty? I was told that the supercharge can’t be installed or purchased until after the truck purchase. Thank you very much and I look forward to joining the tundra family

      TundraDude34 The grill, no matter how you slice it, is ridiculous. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's the leading edge of the vehicle and it's plastic? On the upside, if you're a goof and can't drive, it's cheap to replace. However, if you're not accident prone, those stone chips suck! Chrome or painted though, chrome wins at hiding the inevitable.

I haul a little excavator around sometimes and power is fine, just wondering with all the diesel restrictions that gas trucks will need to improve transmissions for more efficient towning. I've run my truck hard, I've had some issues. At the end of the day, I drive new rentals (that are base, mind you) but they just don't feel so damn good.

    Hmmm...would have to really think about it. I'm still kinda half and half on the whole thing. I don't mind the chrome and the interior is kinda growing on me on the 1794 but . . . . I would like to have the choice between interior colors, not just exterior colors. Are they doing the TRD Sport this year, or next year? Or was that a one time thing... never did make it out to take a look or take a test drive. I liked that extra hood scoot...or was that optional? One thing that makes choosing the 1794 a little easier is that it comes in the crewmax mold standard. I have yet to see a 1794 in the double cab mold and I must say I do NOT like the double cab. Crewmax is smexy. XD

    • @edmiller3759
      @edmiller3759 6 років тому

      Shauntell Holm I hear they are doing it for 2019 as well. Dealers seem to be pushing the Regional package vs the TRD Sport at least in my area. I don't know why. I was not aware of the TRD Sport until I went to the dealership and saw it. I was literally a signature away from buying a Platinum when I saw a TRD Sport being unloaded of the truck. I had thought the Platinum was the only models with color keyed bumpers and grill. To me the TRD Sport is a dressed down version of the Limited and Platinum. It has a lot of the major features like the top trims, I.e. the LED headlights (smoked version), colored keyed bumpers, powered rear window, etc. It doesn't have all the "posh" things that the Limited and Platinum has that I really don't need and care for, i.e. climate control, leather seats (which I actually like and had custom installed from local car upholstery) and a few other "minor" things that I will never miss. Plus the hood scoop makes it stand out. Now some will say you could spend a few thousand more and get the Platinum. I saved about $6k. Look at the standard features between the two. I took that savings, added a TRD exhaust, leather seats and working on adding additional mods I want instead of paying for the standard "posh" features I don't need.

    • @TundraDude34
      @TundraDude34  6 років тому

      Well said! Thats why it’s important that brands offer a wide range of options and trims. Everybody’s different

    • @Artsy.Journeys
      @Artsy.Journeys 6 років тому

      Hey, thanks for the info! Just to be clear, what are the "posh" features you are talking about? If I remember right, the TRD Sport does come with skid plates and a rear sway bar as well, correct? What is the drive like in comparison to the platinum or 1794 levels? They do not always have those trims available where I am at. It is typically either the basic model, the SR5 or the Limited, and even then the Limited is usually sold in the Double Cab mold. I don't know WHY that is so popular out here. Possibly because of the box space. There are a lot of folks who tow goose-necked trailers where that extra box space is necessary but . . . I just don't like the look of it! Anyway, are the "posh" features including the leather seats? For someone of my level where I may not have the extra cash to do those extras off-market, does it really save me some money? And how does it affect the value of the truck? I have always considered eventually adding a supercharger. From what I understand they not only increase power, speed and torgue but do ever so slightly improve the gas mileage. Is there any truth to that last statement, though? I don't remember... I may need to look it up again.

    • @Artsy.Journeys
      @Artsy.Journeys 6 років тому

      Very true. I may not always necessarily like or want the same options as someone else. For instance, as I stated earlier I do not necessarily dislike the chrome. I LOVE the moon roof option but I HATE the double cab. It just looks awkward to me. And like you've mentioned in a few of your videos, in fact other owners have said the same thing in other Tundra ownership videos that I have seen, Toyota makes their options and trim levels for to the point. One gent had mentioned that to buy a Ford F-150 he would have paid $3,000 - $4,000 OVER the sticker price just to get the options he wanted, and he hadn't wanted a whole bunch of fancy-schmancy options, just a simple, down to earth truck. He got all the options he wanted in .... I think it was the SR5? Or the Limited... I don't recall. But that is another reason I will stick with Toyota. No gimmics in the trim level options. There are still extras you can add on...like tow mirrors, in my case, or even the moon roof as it is now, but that is neither here nor there in the long haul. It's just basic wants and needs in the truck.

      From my research on the TRD Sport vs Platinum, No leather seats (which includes passenger power seats. Driver side is powered), no climate control, no moonroof, I think the Platinum has the signal blinker on the mirrors (not sure) but the TRD does not. That's all I can think of. I'm sure some Platinum owners can chime in but the list is not long and they are probably "little things". Now the TRD has the Suspension, TRD sway bars and TRD shift knob. It does not have the TRD skid plate. The TRD Sport can tow more than the Platinum. Overall aftermarket parts do not help with resale but I have read adding leather seats may slightly. The cool thing about the Tundra is the seat fabric is easy to remove making it simple to add leather. Also, that hood scoop changes the look big time. The ride is good. I did not spend a lot of time driving the Platinum but I did notice less body roll with the Sport. I felt the Sport was more responsive on handling.

    I’ll debunk that myth. I have the paint matched plastic corners. Mine don’t shake.

    I don't like the interior of the 1794. I would probably go with the Platinum.

    So the new 1794 is the old platinum. Cuz I have the brown leather and all chrome. And the new platinum is the limited edition

      The 1794 is a western theme 2014 and up Platinum, but yes it shares a lot of features from the 2nd gen Platinums

    Capitol Toyota has a lifted 2018 Tundra they're advertising here on the tube, seems to be a 4" lift so TSS must not be an issue. the truck also has a really cool light bar in the bulge.

    MY preference is the limited, I don’t like the triangle stitching in the platinum, the 1794 interior is just ugly.

    Took votes at my house. That's 3 for the Platinum. Too much chrome and butterscotch on the 1794.
