    AWE DUDE , RESPECT ( and thats from a 59 year old whos bin playin since 17, self taught and back then NO YOU TUBE. for years I was still when asked "ooh can you play guitar ?" I would always answer Im Still learning , or I just pretend prety good " , THAT WAS IT and my confidence. BUT I watched a vid with The guy from The Eagles, Sorry cant remember name offhand, But he said that after he had been playing for years (again self taught) his words were , " I thought I would get caught pretending , cos I felt I dint have a clue " but he went on to say " Trust me if you pretend you know what your doing it is ok because THEY BELIEVE WOTEVER YOU SAY " (I think I am paraphraising a bit ? ) But I pmsl I thought FFS thats been me for years , cos I aint got no certificate that says I can play guitar ( I have now tho lol I am a qualified IMF and I had to pass a college board so there you go, ) sorry I do waffle , and digress... However Tonight I decided I was going to learn purple rain as my next project so I looked about on you tube init > I found 1 that was , "Easy play on acoustic" a 5 minit job lol with G Em D and C... I thort yeah great but not what I had in mind , so caried on looking (wrote the other chords down , easy singalong shyte at the pub ) pmsl . Then I found 3 that had what I wanted , gave me the right sound after investigation I got what I needed to know , then I thought lead ????? hmmm normally I just " Improvise/jam to most stuff kinda blues backbone. Then I saw yours and I thought Brill this is the cream on top, so I will KEEP REPLAYING this till off by heart then stick the rhythem on my looper and WHOOHOOO I am away , I so love your touch bro , your fingers look so delicate, mine have got quarter inch thick calouses on ,, ( I was on 11s but on Billy Gibbons Advice from BB King I went light, I am now on 8s I wanted 7s like BG but couldnt get in my local shop. , more useless info lol ) but its Kinda my style of playing anyway and those lil tricks /signatures, Thanks bro. PEACE OUT BIGTIME , AND of course RIP Mr Prince, yes bro you were used and had liberties taken and yes you regained your control of your direction , and the bastards Stole it from you , (well I believe it anyway , Im a conspiricy theorist here lol )
    .

      Hallo Tamás Papp,
      excuse my late reply
      I wrote to Bob M two weeks ago this comment:
      Prince has played a Mesa Boogie MK Amp. I think it was a MK I.
      If you have a Mesa it is easy to get a Prince sound. The Master of the
      Amp as high as you can. The gain between 6 and 9. It depents on the
      guitar. Guitar with good sustain to 6.
      You must push the Bass setting and the the other setting to the middle.
      You should also play with a little bit Phaser sound. Not to much.
      If you play live go near the Speaker to get a good feedback.
      The guitar pickup to Bridge. It sound better with humbucker or active
      system.
      Maybe this comment gives you help to get your Prince tone.
      If not let me know.
      Maybe I can give you more help.
      Let me know what Rig (Software or Amp and Effects) do you use.
      Important is a little bit Phaser !!!

      I have an Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus , and a VOX VT20X amp , and I also have an Line 6 Pocked Pod

    • @ggos9835
      @ggos9835  8 років тому

      I think with a Vox it is not easy to make a good Prince sound.
      Les Paul is very good to get it.
      Try to use the Line 6 and with a Mesa Boogie Rectifier Sound Simulation.
      The Bass to highest level
      Midrange weakly
      High weakly
      Presence high
      I think that would work with my Line 6 Pod
      I don´t know the sound of the Pocked Pod
      You always can use a Recifier Simulation to get a MK Boogie Sound but you must be carful with the setting

      Thank you carineb6742 - makes me proud to hear that - I use pc software to emulate the boogie sound of prince pull the master as high as you can to get that dirty sound If you use a real amp make it real loud to get that feedback from the strings mids down/ bass bottom up/ mid high down / presence high up (cut it up 8000 hz without a git speaker) an / try a faser if you habe one or a chorous (not to much)

      Hallo Adrian,
      I use a special Fender model called Fender Strat HM (HM for Heavy Metal).
      I love this Guitar, because I can play so many styles with this Guitar.
      In my GGOS Playlist you can hear my own songs played only with this HM (exept the acoustic guitars).
      I ´ve played over years Mesa Boogie Amps, but for my recording I use software Simulation of Amps.
      I think yust a perfect recorded good Amp sounds better.
      I also have played Ibanez Guitars. They are fantastic.

    • @adrianpelham6024
      @adrianpelham6024 8 років тому

      Yes to the Fender 6 Guitar port Strat, . I do confess a real soft spot for usa Strats, I had 1 that had fender lace pickups and tbx it was the same as the one Clapton had , pewter/silver., Sadly sold her, but yes heluva range of tones on them for sure... I also have didgi amp stuff for my pc , (small world huh ?) But I am using an antique (but still works perfect) a Line 6 guitar port, that will run diferent programs and you get endless effects and amp models.. I have got an audacity program for recording audio and a hd cam , ( but I need someone else to do all the faffing around as I am never satisfied and so never finished , besides I am to shy , nobody would ever hear/see it pmsl. but I got all the bits , just no band to play with , boo hoo. nice chat m8 . wots your named ? btw ?

      I shall check out your site next downtime , I kinda wrote some songs myself but all too sad or to stupid ( funny stupid ) but my own music is always developing and new tunes come out as time goes on , I love to " space out " and just kinda run with it and see what comes out, I try to paint my moods in the vast scope of musical colors the guitar gives out. ( that probably sounds really stupid ) ooops dont hit send , too l8 lol

      Hallo slovan,
      I use Delay Reverb (Big Room) a little bit Phaser and Distortion. Distortion as effect and from the Amp (Master Clipping).
      The Master distortion is important because that makes the big and dirty Prince Sound

    Can you tell what kind of pedal and how do you set up the amp to play the song?

    • @ggos9835
      @ggos9835  4 роки тому +2

      I don´t use a pedal. It´s a software emulater of a Boogie Amp with high Master Volumen that makes this dirty sound like prince has used this time. If you use a real Amp with this setting it has more sustain because a the loudness of the Amp.
      So it´s much better to play with real Amps. I played a Mesa Boogie 2 Channel Recto in the past. With that AMP you could have a much better sound compare to the sound of my video. But don´t puch the gain to much.

    • @ggos9835
      @ggos9835  8 років тому

      Hallo Brett 77,
      Sorry !!
      I never use tabs, because I listen to a solo and see the fingers of guitarists in front of me.
      If I learn a solo from a UA-cam Video, it cost me more time to learn in this way.
      I learned Classical Guitare and jazz guitar from Notes , but if you have to play a Rock Solo ?
      I think you have to watch or lissen how to play. Tabs and notes can only give a little help.
      But if I could (never learned to make Tabs) I whould give you Tabs or a address to found.

    What effects did you have used ?

    • @ggos9835
      @ggos9835  8 років тому

      Delay, Reverb (Big Room) and a little bit Phaser.
      And of course, distortion.
      But use more Master overclipping than the gain.
      When you play an amplifier it has to be very loud.

      Sounds great! Is the amp computer software simulation too? If yes, how are you getting that sound? If no, which specific amp (including the brand, model and year) are you using? Thanks!

      david paul i was thinking same thing, he has the solo down and has a good tone but needa to polish up on the vibrato, vibrato is key to good tone, ive struggled with it for a couple yrs but starting to like mine better now, i like the fact that good vibrato cant be learned over night and that it takes time to develope a good one, this one here kinda sound like the term i heard called "billy goating' or sounding like a sheep or stevie nicks

    • @adam_-adam

      Chris Bailey sure sure, dont get all but hurt because im speaking the truth, if you dont think vibrato is the key to good tone than your an idiot and if you play guitar i bet its something you lack and you probably sound like crap. you are probably one of those guitar players who make the audience cringe there teeth or get nervouse when you do it. i was never knocking this guy and never said he sucked, i just agreed on something i noticed, which was the vibrato. sometimes the truth hurts but sometimes that can make someone better because maybe yhey might beable to take some constructive criticism. and i dont needa post my video on here because im not one of those many egotist dooshbag show off guitarists like most people are, i have videos and if youd like to see they are on my page, i dont needa post them on this guys comment section too prove anyyhing to you and on top of that i dont claim to be all great and shit, im average if that and only been playing 8 yrs.

      Chris Bailey sure you would wipe the floor, i bet i can play more covers than you and more closer sounding to the sings than you could, your probably one of those guys who just does a bunch of originals and thinks hes good but really just got shitty sounden originals, dont get mad dude. like i said i never said i was any kind of guitar perfectionist, thats what you said cuz your a fucking doosh bag. you are probably one those guys who sits at guitarcenter all day and use that place for there stage to show off smhh. i fuckin hate people like that. you wouldnt do shit with you playing but piss people off and probably make people want to tell you to stfu

    Not trying to pick on you, but it looks like you are putting in way too much effort on your vibrato, sans the desired effect. Sounds damn close to the song
