Say what you want about Steve's style of content but you can't disagree with the fact that he is a phenomenal guitar player.
Aaron wrote something similar myself 👍
Super true, he's damn good!
Aaron I agree 1,000,000 %!!! He is truly awesome and gifted!! And I LOVE his crazy shenanigans & silly faces!! Truth be told, I most likely feel a certain special kinship with him because for most of my life (54yrs) I’ve always been the class goof and making faces much like StevieT, and a whole lot more. Anyway I do agree, he is a phenomenal guitarist.....and he has a great voice to boot 👢.
Seliece im with you and do the same
He is one of the greatest to ever play the instrument.
Honestly, probably one of the best tribute covers I've ever heard.
TropicalPriest wtf petrucci has one too
What i like about Steve t covers is that he keeps the "Melody" of the song. In other covers ive heard from this song, they seem to worry about playing the best solo or showing their technique, that theres a moment when you dont even know what song youre "listening" to. On the recommendations of this video theres a girl making the same cover. Flawless indeed...but like i said theres a moment where it doesnt even sound like purple rain anymore.
Like this one over petrucci's cover
Nope
Look at jack thamerat
beautiful
A verified user with no replies... wow
That field has excellent acoustics
Hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahaha
Is the forest of tone woods resonating in the background 😂
And amazing gain
Lol
Looool
Was never really a Prince fan, but this gave me chills. Fantastic job, Steve
Me neither dude, until I really checked out some of his music. Changed my whole shit. Huge prince fan now.
This guy is an amazing guitarist.most people with his talent on you tube are arrogant as fuck! But he's a humble guy, who has no problem poking fun at himself. Thanks for the videos Steve !
+SinpieNMGamingHD 331erock
+biohzrd1x1 Your right
steve shows what playing guitar is really all about. it's about having fun! and you realise that he has tons of fun in every single video
he's self aware that guitar, while cool, is lame af
i agree i love his videos ..but man he really has skillz....
The tone was beautiful, and this is probably one of the greatest tributes I've ever heard
Great job, Steve!

O mais normal é que centenas ou milhares de BR tenham visto/irão ver esse vídeo, mas não vão comentar por que inglês e tal.
Fubol
+Ricardo Pieper ele toca muito mas pra mim tirou a essência da musica
I've watched this 15 times in the last few months, never gets old...
Ashley Bacich I watched it 15 times in the last 24 hours lol and still tear up every time
Ashley Bacich
Ditto. *I watch/listen to this at least once a month... and I'm not joking whatsoever.* It really is an enormously phenomenal guitar solo (it occupies 1 of the 5 slots in my own personal top 5 guitar solo list), even if it IS a cover of a guitar solo.
*Stevie can flat out PLAY!!!*
You right😂
You're never old actually. Old physically But your soul remains young.
I know this clip is 4 years old but DAMN. Stevie T you are one hell of a player. Thanks for sharing your gift with us, even in your special way.
Not exactly the type of video I'd have expected from Stevie T but it's not always about the content with Stevie T. Stevie T is about quality. And Stevie T always gives us quality.
+Nation Quality VFX yo!
He puts the T in quali-T
this kid might be kinda annoying sometimes but he is one hell of a guitar player and this proves it right here.
"Kid"? Dude, he turned 30 this year.
Lord Stinson exactly his point
south
How can that be his point?
Lord Stinson this young man? Dose it really matter? your missing the point I think haha
maxwelld23 you're*
I still come back to listen to this. So well done.
☺️
Me too
5 years on and its still just sooooo good
I just find myself keep coming back to hear this one again and again through the years.. can't believe its been 8 years since you gifted us this amazing cover!
1:49 SIDE LEG ROCKER STANCE!! :D
XD
he just killed that........ side leg rocker stance
U LIED TO ME!!!
Lol!!! 😄
+Straatelus nobody does the duck face and side leg rock stance like Geddy 😂
This felt like a genuine tribute with genuine affection. Tons of feeling, moving, and beautiful. Prince would, most certainly, be well pleased with this, I think.
When I first heard this it made me cry because Prince was one of my heroes. Please Stevie make a tutorial for this or tab it out. I, and so would many others, love to learn your solo.
I still come back and listen to this every now and again. I grew up listening to Prince because my mom loved him and now they’re both gone and this tribute was so awesome to hear the first time and everytime since 🤘🏽
6 years later and still one of my all time favorite Stevie T videos and adaptations. DAMN I wish I could play this exactly like this!
This was actually pretty damn good... And respectful too...
Much respect Steve.
Why is this dude so good at guitar
Practice
he has a pact with the devil
hundreds of hours of practice
+I Will Bury You thousands
+tony salas so wrong... like all the best guitarists he have THE pick... the pick of destiny :o
Almost 3 years later I still come back to this. Still gets me..
And here I am again, compulsory repeat watching Stevie T .When I first heard this I was in tears... have just listened to it again through new headphones ....phenomenal. Stevie you are so talented it's not fair on the rest of us! ( long live purple t shirt from your youth turned inside out) Best wishes and love from England💋💋
Say what the hell you like. Steve is amazing. My daughter introduced me to him as she watches his videos. I have now subscribed and find him so funny but most of all, an amazing guitarist. This tribute rocks ...
You play like Satriani and look like Bill Gates
tru
Ayy
+flipping waffles And talks like The Hungarian Experiment
He is the satriani of the UA-cam guitar community
+Steve arteaga No he's not, he is the Steve Terreberry of the UA-cam community and we wouldnt have him any other way.
Everything Stevie T touches is gold. Or in this case, purple. Well done Stevie T.
I know he will always have the comedy factor to his music, but he REALLY has to make a serious album.
I agree
+HarvesterOfSorrow01 I think he allready have 1.
Kambanata Bie nope he only released one album so far
Peace Sells but WHO'STURNINGTHEFRICKIN'FROGSGAY? Nice name
This tribute made me cry. Made me miss Prince more. Oh rest in peace Prince .
Two years later and still one of the best guitar covers anyone could hope to find.
See guys, Steve can be serious, when he needs to be.
even when hes serious hes funny
Metalhead Ftw Lol, how?
+CommonConnor i mean the video is kinda cheesy and he just has that overall goofiness to him its just funny lol
I love that you used a purple pick :D
This could be...the most greatful guitar solo ever...seriously! I'm not joking!
I know that this was a long time ago, Steve, but I have to say this...
Prince was smiling down on you from Heaven when you did this! Awesome tribute, man!
A great tribute to the late legend, Prince! 💪💪💪🫡🫡🫡
This is the best Steve's video since a long time ago. Nice tribute. Rest in peace, Prince.
I am very serious when I say it's the best tribute I ever saw on UA-cam.
Stevie......... That was absolutely beautiful. Prince would be honored by that. You my friend can capture the pure essence of anything you try. Yes you are funny with you satirical parodies, but you truly are an artist. You have a gift that many people dream about. You're humble and true. Stay that way. Peace.
+Luke Thompson Stevie T is the best talent on the UA-cam Youniverse right now.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. This is one of the best tributes I've ever heard. Not just for Prince (a musical genius by the way) but for any one. Thank you Steve.
Brought tears to my eyes BTW
I can't get over this cover, been listening to this regularly for the last 2 years
Carvin/Kiesel, for fugks sake man, GET THIS MAN A SIGNATURE DEAL!!!
+1!
He is a Kiesel artist :)
Stefan Hannesson Yes, but there is a difference between being endorsed and having a signature series guitar. He deserves a signature line Stevie-T Kiesel.
+Scott Patterson it would be a 10 string tuned in drop q
+Andrew Doud HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Honestly you and he rock critic paid tribute to this best stevie, each in your own way. The fact that you didn't do a cheesy cover and rather gave tribute to prince by doing what you do best is incredible
I think this is the first serious video of steve
fuk jb Shadowed By Darkness
Have a look at careless whisper cover that he did
Prince was mostly RnB, funk, pop, and jazz, but his guitar playing definitely had some metal in it. Not all songs, but some.
Simply amazing! Simply...
A worthy tribute to a great musician. Good work Steve - as always :)
You may act a little too "funny" in my opinion. But you can't deny your musicianship. Well done.
I love your videos but I love the most that when it's needed you are serious as hell. We love you Steve, thanks for the humor and the grave when it's need it

One of my favorite videos. Just beyond beautifully and artistically written variation of this song. Bravo!!!
"I never meant to cause you any sorrow,
I never meant to cause you any pain"
R.I.P Prince.
Omg dude I love this purple rain tribute I listen to it everyday by far it's my favorite video on UA-cam of all time!! Love your channel and your videos!!
Seriously dude, you're a God. I remember when I was 13, I was just a guy trying to improve his skills at guitar, then I saw your videos and they really helped a lot... I've been following you since then. Keep doing all of this amazing work. :)
Prince would be proud of you. In my opinion he was one of the greatest Guitarists ever. Thnx for remembering him .
Came back to this in 2021 just to remind myself what an absolutely superb rendition of this song. Beautifully played.
Wow, so tastefully done. I never wanted it to end.
You made me shed a tear.
Prince will always be my favorite guitarist, and all-around musician.
Great job. There was one part that sounded exactly like Prince would have played it, but you still made it yours.
That was so good it don’t matter if you like prince or not.
I was returning from Coachella festival when I saw a marquee announcing Prince passing. RIP Steve T. Just keep going 🥹🥹🥹
Can’t tell you how much this made me cry
2020 and lm still here! Amazing tribute! Steve rocks!
I appreciate your sarcasm more than a lot people probably do, but damn you need to do more videos like this! So much raw talent and beauty!
This sounds so beautiful dude, great work
So glad to see my fave video is in your top ten of solos .. can't wait for your newie... you big tease 🤩
Beautiful solo! When I closed my eyes, I could see Prince playing. You are an awesome guitar player. My husband and I love your videos! Most are funny but this one was truly the most sad one you have. We love you and God bless you dude! RIP Prince!!!
i didnt know john rambo had a husband!
Great job dude! It's sad how few people actually know how amazing of a guitarist Prince actually was!
So underrated
Cannibal Corpse and Dark Tranquillity are my two favorite death metal bands! But I also loved Prince's music too! Some might be surprised by that but his musical genius is undeniable! It's hard not to like brilliant music performed by a brilliant musician! Rest in paradise Prince, we were so lucky to enjoy your presence as long as we did!! 💜💜
this is such a beautiful tribute, RIP Prince!
Why have I never seen this till now?Amazing!
Prince is in Heaven smiling down on you, Stevie. You’ve made him proud for sure.
Beautiful playing. it would be mad cool to see more of your showcased skills man. your comedy is great but as a player your equally if not better.
when this guy was suppose to be fooling around but unintentionally makes it epic instead
Mig Caro I don't think he was fooling around I think this was meant to be serious. It was amazing solo and Stevie did it justice .
good stuff Stevie T.
Prince was an amazing guitarist. it's a shame that he never really gets compared to the other greats.
This is absolutely outstanding it gives me the chills, and is an absolutely beautiful piece. I think Prince would be proud.
How am I only just seeing this now? Absolutely amazing Steve! Looked like you really put your heart & soul into this one.
I can't believe I'll see all this legends die... damn I feel sad
but sadly Chyna died The next day and Merle Haggard sadly died on his birthday earlier in the month RIP Merle and Chyna
I still have to remind myself that David Bowie died...
масяня2000 don't worry, legends come and go, you just gotta wait for them.
Steve, I love your channel, you really are a great teacher. I am telling you right now, you need to get in a band and make the best music of your life. You will make it big, I know that for sure. You are an amazing musician brother, good luck.
I cried purple tears at the end.
Always have been a huge Prince fan, my mom got me into him when I was little as she's a big Prince fan too and we both were heartbroken when he died. I wish I would have known about you then, Stevie. I could have used this to deal with the loss but man do I appreciate it now. Beautiful solo. I choked up listening to it. 💜 Prince would be proud.
This is skillful, creative, soulful, powerful. I LOVE the sound the fullness, the overdrive......raised the hair on the back of my neck. I aspire to play this like Steve played it here. Completely over the top all-out bada$$
Beautiful
I like your silly vids and your serious vids. Keep up the good work and great playing.
That was really nice. Steve is on of my very favorite lead guitar players. What a great solo.
Amazing guitar playing.. need more soloing videos like this.. feel like playing guitar every time i hear this
beautiful, I'm in tears
Awesomely beautiful
Steve, we want more videos like this from you, buddy...!!
Put this on iTunes and I will buy it
Same here.
Awesome! Just awesome! I'm sure Prince would be proud!
I’m glad everyone is doing covers of Prince songs after his death. I thought about doing covers of his songs also. When he was alive, his songs were not here on UA-cam and he doesn’t allow people to do covers of his songs here on UA-cam.
Такой красивый парень :)
Good job, Steve!
+Alena MantiCorre словно вообще не Стив'а видео
Непривычно без его *фирменного*

I'd definitely buy this guy's music if it were available in my country. :)

His label Artery Recordings has distribution outside of the US. There is also this thing called the internet. You can like buy stuff from it and then it magically appears at your door!
+Pranoy Chakraborty For sure!
taxes and duties bruh ;_;
Tho Steve is not in the US
Amazing work Steve, and R.I.P to an amazing rocker and a true legend. Prince, you truly are in a better place because the world is a little worse without you.
Probably one of the best things I’ve ever heard played on a guitar....amazing.
How did you get that tone Stevie? It's BEAUTIFUL!
in one of his videos he stated that he uses bias for all his tones
Thanks dude
+Come_at_mua Not Steve chose the tone, the tone chose the Steve
+kovacsistvanhetfield this comment reminds me of chuck norris for some reason. lol
awesome!
I had never listened to prince until i heard this. Thank you stevie
Edit: after like 3 years i JUST realized his shirts inside out. Its the one from his old "how to be death core" video
i 'd say He'd give you a big thumbs up!
This is pure gold.
A legend in the making paying tribute to a legend gone too soon :( this video is bittersweet but overwhelmingly beautiful.
