It is working, put your foot on the gas pedal the whole way, it will hold the rpm at 1500rpm until you take you foot off the brake. Make sure you have your seatbelt on. The reason why it holds it at a specific rpm is so your wheels don’t spin when your foot if off the brake pedal.
That's a good way to snap an axle or break something in your trans. If the launch control doesn't work, don't ever push the brakes all the way down and floor it.
First put it in S hold the brake and press and hold the ESP button even when it turns off for a couple of seconds until it is completely off. And now you should be able to use launch control

Put IT in sport first. Brake pedal hard. And then hold the ESP button till IT lights. Mash the accelerator and IT Will goto around 3k rpm. Release brake and off you go
You need to put it into drive then flick it over to the manual mode. Car will still change gears for you at redline, but does not work in sport mode, only in manual.
The problem isnt the seatbelt or something else you have to put it in drive and then push the stick right so that it is in manuel shifting and your esc has to be off but you got that one right then put you left foot on the brake and floor it
It's probably had a remap sometime in its life. A remap usually removes the launch control from the ecu (unless you have a good tuner and they make sure they keep the launch control on the ecu)

You're engaging the engine warmup feature which is brake+gas and it idles at 1200rpm. It's the same in my '96 A3 TDI.

It’s not warm enough mate, oil temp needs to be over 85 degrees Celsius and then it will work. Also make sure your wheel is straight.
Have to have seatbelt on and just mash the throttle all the way really quickly not slowly
