Budgeting is sooo important no matter how much money you make. It’s also important to live debt free! I teach people how to do that on my channel. Thanks for sharing!
Marriage & Motherhood I love your videos!
Marriage & Motherhood Yes!!!! Love your channel #momgoals
Thank you 😚
Omg totally for the great energy gonna sub and check you out dear
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
Honestly I find saving and budgeting the hardest part of being an adult. Great tips girl x
JessBecause same here. It's really difficult.
JessBecause Agreed I could have used a class on this in school more than wood shop.
JessBecause its very hard and wish they had a class in school. But it’s all about sharing the knowledge and spreading love ❤️
This definitely comes from a place of luxury. My rent and groceries alone is more than 50% of what I make in a month. Just do your best, and be super aware of superfluous spending and that's all some people can do
Another tip for the essentials portion: don't have more than you can afford. Don't get a new car if you can only afford a used for now. Or a 2 bedroom apartment if you really only need one bedroom. It will help get you on track or out of debt if you downsize to what you really need.
your adulting 101 videos are all i need thank you thank you thank you
I swear you get prettier everyday
Tayla Maybon stg
No joke yes
I was thinking the same freaking thing
Tayla Maybon yessss
I used to go to Starbucks all of the time too, and when I realized how much money I was spending a week on my coffee, I knew I had to stop. Great video!
Yes! It adds up so fast. I still go occasionally (about 2x a month as) a treat because I love a good coffee and at home I stock up on extracts (almond, raspberry, etc) and got a small milk foamer so I can make my daily coffee a little more special.
Me and fast food 😩😩😩
adulting is so hard.. thanks for making it easier 😚
I'm so used to having a new video every day now, I'll miss that in November! :) but you deserve to get some rest after all this! thanks for the awesome content :)
I just love the aesthetic of Youtober 🖤☕️🖤
me too x
It definitely helps to have the cash actually on hand! My boyfriend gave me a tip to set a limit for your spending and get that amount out in cash..then when your next pay day or the next month comes around if you still have 60 dollars of your limit left, and your limit is 150, only get out 90 dollars because you'll still have 150 for your limit.
Kalyn you seriously have been reading my mind, i so needed this cuz whatever money i do have never lasts, thank you!🙏
Love how this is a more in-depth not the usual how to save money video, kinda inspired me to be more stern on myself for a better future. And to whoever reads this and might help, I hate carrying cash but then again I pretty much spend my days at home so at my job, there's a grocery store. I just buy a grocery gift card and refill to 10$ a week on it for emergency work lunches. Fruits, bagels, pack of granola bars to store at the work locker, anything you could possibly (reasonably) want! Still waiting on an All About Bentley video! :D
you are killing it with these daily uploads
I subscribed to u this week and all im thinking is WHY DID I ONLY FIND U NOW! U are amazing! Catching up on all videos nowwwww
Zoe Austen welcome to the club girl!❤️😘
Getting a notification about a new video makes me SO happy inside 😌
I've been living on my own since I was 18 and I know the feels when it comes to money. It is WAY too easy to lose track of eating out, or personal little comforts and that kept biting me in the butt when I first started learning how to adult. I have finally come to the point where I still have a little money left over on each paycheck but not enough to adequately start a savings account. Which I need to do. I am glad I came across this video and when I get my next check I am going to take these tips and apply them and see how it helps me out! Thanks for the video!
Money saving videos are some of my favourite videos on UA-cam and are what inspired me to start making videos! You definitely stand out here on UA-cam Kalyn! You can tell how creative and honest you are with your content! Love, a fellow UA-camr and Canadian ❤️🇨🇦
I think the cash thing will definitely help me out! It's so easy to just swipe that card, handing over cash is a lot harder!
Wooohoo, you updated earlier than usual. Now I have a lovely video to watch while eating dinner :')
DiaBBt Really it usually 4pm or before here in Chicago at a regular basis?
Well I'm from Romania, she usually uploads at midnight so yea :'(
DiaBBt Awww well at least it's amazing how she is Canadian and your watching from Romania I'm in the U.S and we all get to not only support but benefit from Kalyn
I look forward to these literally every morning
I love how you're 23!! Your videos are so relatable and it's helpful and useful advice! Thank you!
I seriously love the amount of effort you put into your channel.. it makes me so drawn to you content and fall in love with you channel. Thank you!
I love videos about money and budgeting! Only thing is I do prefer to use my debit card so that whenever ppl ask me for money (which is usually quite often), I can just politely say "I don't carry cash on me."
I really recommend having your bank automatically transfer funds into your savings on your payday. I set up 2 accounts (1 main savings and 1 'car account' after I no longer had a car payment. I would set aside about 1/4 of my old car payment. I still had the other 3/4 to save or spend, but was also preparing for the inevitable day when my car would die. It may not be a lot, but it'll really help when you need to make a down payment the next time.)
Great tips! Taking out cash works! I do it every week. I take out cash for buying any treats or takeout food. Sometimes if I will even take my cards out of my wallet so when I go out, I can only spend that set amount of cash. It's so much easier to limit your spending that way.
I have been so crazy about budgeting and these are so helpful. I like watching your videos I take notes just because they have helped and I am teaching my brother too. You are very helpful
Just wanted to say I really respect your work there so many you tubers out there doing vlogtober but you are the only one sticking to it . Iam 27 studying and I have a full time job so I definitely know what hard work is 😀 thanks for taking your job serious ♥️
Loved this video but omg at 6:12 when it was over, I was looking for the mouse arrow to click out and struggled to find it coz of all the autumn leaves and went into a panic lol
Your video couldn't have come at a better time!!!!! Thanks, Kaylin!! Love you!
your adulting series has saved me so many times!
Me too!! I’ve learned so much from her!!
Honestly, just spending cash is a great idea! I’m definitely going to do that!
Don't just save, INVEST! put whatever money you are saving (or even just 50% of it) in a 401K or a mutual fund to maximize your money! most banks offer them and you cant set how aggressive it is and easily monitor and change how you want the money invested or you can be like me and just let the experts do their thing :) This also helps keep you from "borrowing" from your savings because (at leas in the US) most savings have penalties for early with drawl and different types of saving account have different time requirements (EX: 401K cannot be accessed until after retirement age) most companies now a days (even places like Starbucks & McDonalds!) offer employees savings plans to and they often match a certain % of what you save and/or "vest" you as an employee after a certain amount of time which is sorta like a pension, all you have to do is contact your HR person and they can walk you through how to sign up or activate it :) key is to ASK - I learned this mistake and am SHOOK at the amount of FREE money I could have gotten from Starbucks (my college job) had I only asked and gotten my plans set up.
Veronika Albuquerque was about to make a similar comment 👍 while I agree with some of Kalyn’s tips, there’s also a LOT more to financial freedom. And Investing is worth learning about. Hopefully this video inspires people to go out and do some research or maybe even talk to a financial planner :)
I am definitely going to try these tips out! I am the WORST at saving and budgeting! Thanks for the tips!!
I AM ADDICTED TO YOUTOBER VIDEOS I DONT WANT THEM TO END!!!
I would love to see a video like this about credit/credit cards! I think a lot of people, like myself, would find it useful! Much love❤️
I LOVED THIS VIDEO SO MUCH. My boyfriend and I got our first apartment and we have lived here since May, and we still haven’t found a good system for saving/spending. I think this is going to save us and help so much! Thank you so much Kalyn, you give the best advice & tips.
P.S Lots of love from Detroit, MI ❤️
Thanks Kalyn! I'm putting this into play now that i have a 9-5p job post college and saving up for a future apartment!!!
You have KILLED this youtober. You've created better quality content, and more of it, in a month than some channels I'm subscribed to put out in a year..... I haven't felt that any of these videos were just "filler" and that's super fucking impressive. Much love. 💜💜💜
I love the fireplace as a background!
This was such a good breakdown! Definitely gonna be using these tips, especially the apps! xo
Wow these were awesome tips! I'm definitely going to use those percentages for each category...makes everything so much easier. I also agree that taking out cash is sooo much better because when you have a card it's easier to lose track. You should do more vids like this, you have awesome tips.
awesome tips! we budgeted in a super similar way when we were saving to travel full-time !
I have to pay like 98% from my monthly income on life essentials haha
your videos are awesome as always :-)
Katrin H me too
ikr, my rent alone is over 50% :(
Same
My tip is to borrow books from the library instead of buying them (unless you have an author you're supporting). You can also use kindle because it's cheaper to buy!
Great points! It's so important to effectively learn to how to manage money when you're young!
I found pre-planning my expenses for the month and then tracking my expenses as I go to be the most useful and fortunately it helped babe and I to afford our first home!
AGREEEED. I hate carrying cash with a passion, but guess what! I'm not saying, "oh this is only $5" every other day and swiping my card too much. Totally agree girl
So, it's 11PM in Germany and I have to go to bed - but instead I'm watching your video :) Thanks again for sharing! Why is October nearly already over?!
this couldn't have come at a better time! I want to move out and still go to college so yay :) Thanks girl! Love you lots!
I loved your tips and they were very realistic! This adulting thing does get complicated but budgeting, saving, and investing are so important ;)
Honestly one of the best series on youtube!!!
I save kinda different way. I make envelope for every spend. e.g: 🏠 rent, beauty essentias, grocery etc. and budget and drop the same money in all those envelopes. once it's finished I'm done ,I don't swipe cards after that. so it helps a lot to save more
I actually found all these tips helpful, thank you Kalyn! :)
Another tip I have especially if you have trouble with online shopping is keeping a very minimum amount of money on your debit card. So basically keep it in cash as whenever you have to hand over money physically it actually makes you question if you really have to spend it. Of course do keep some money on the debit card, just in case of a emergency 🙈x
Such good tips! I wish I could stick to them all haha. One I’m goin to adopt to use the 20% and also to take he cash out that I’ll be using for non essentials instead of using whatever is left on my card as extra cash when it could just go into my savings. Thanks for the video :)
new subscriber and just wanna say im hooked ✨ been binge watching your vids!
Thank you for making this. I really need to start becoming more frugal. I'm currently trying to pay off a pretty hefty credit card bill. NEVER AGAIN. I've learned the hard way on that
Hey Kalyn...I'm super obsessed with your style, your organization, your interior design. But, I LOVE that you are such a girl boss. Can you do a video on what you did to start your youtube channel...sort of a how to? Thanks!
First video of yours I've watched, loved it! The graphics really helped to make it sink in!
An alternative to the pulling out cash for spending method is to have a separate checking account for this. My paycheck direct deposits are structured so that what I need to pay monthly bills automatically goes into my bill account, a set amount goes into savings, and then whatever is left goes into a different checking account for "spending". Then if money is left over at the end of the month I am able to easily transfer it over to savings. Pulling out cash would be a lot more work and I'd be more inclined to just spend the cash and not carefully evaluate my purchases. And then to have to take it all the way back to the bank to deposit into savings would just be something else on my to do list.
you always upload the right videos at the right time for my life, I needed this one!! thank you girl!
Tip: have one bank account for fun and the other for bills. That way you are not tempted to use your bill money on fun stuff.
I can't believe youtober is going by so fast 😫 Kalynn, you're such an inspiration to me! I follow over 100 channels on my other UA-cam account and yours is still my favorite. Keep doing you, girl. Much love 💕🖤
Yay! I just got off of work just in time! This is really a video I need right now lol I wish they would've taught some of this in school because this is stuff EVERYONE will need
Hi fellow Exo-L
Definitely something I need to work on. I work two part-time jobs and I'm still broke. Thanks for the tips!
I am 18 and just joined my first job this month, I was unable to save until now... and got worried that I won't be able to go home... BUT THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT TO SAVE MY LIFE!! I live in Toronto at the moment too :D I am a student at the HUMBER COLLEGE.
When you first said you were Canadian I thought “where’s her accent” and then when you said “out”... I knew! 😂😂 I love it. It sounds like you’re saying oat!
Was on my way to Starbucks for my 2nd Grande white 🍫 mocha and you changed my mind. Thank you!
i have seen all of your October videos, and i am amazed on how interesting they all are! keeping it going Kalyn
You’re the best! I was literally doing research on this topic this morning!
making so many notes from this video! my bills are £60 a month (credit card and phone as i live at home) so i have decided to put £30 away a month and use the rest of my money on things i actually need. i go for coffee and sushi 2 days a week with my friend which is £15, so £60 a month😩 i don’t know what to do though because it’s our little routine at college and it’s really social but it leaves me with £70 for the rest of the month😳
ALSO charli xcx at the end 😍
The best video for saving money ever!!! bravo!!!
Super useful video Kalyn! Really need to track the spending on personal stuff. great tips :)
I really liked this! I liked the visual aids! Love you Kalyn!
Your videos are soooo helpful I so appreciate them all!! Ooh video idea could you do a “what I eat in a day” video as I’m new to being a vegan and I’d so appreciate some “normal” everyday ideas! 🖤
This is such a helpful video! I love the visuals as well!
Could you make a video on transitioning from living at home to on your own? Like stuff to be aware of, unexpected expenses, how to adjust to it, first time home essentials, etc. (If you do live on your own and can talk about that)
you should make a video about how to stay focused on goals, be productive, etc, but especially for high school students.
Your videos are perfect! Can you make one about how you get inspired to make changes at your interior home decoration?
You're pure inspiration!
Every video you make is fantastic. I love you so much!!!
I just love your budgeting videos 😍😍 This video was a great way to start the day.
Ahhhh this was SO helpful!!! Definitely going to try the 30% out in cash. Omg thank you!
Girl, you rock!
This was SO helpful and inspires me to keep track of my $$ more haha. Thank you for all the great tips, you're wonderful xo
Noting I didn’t already know but nice to refresh 👍🏻
I really liked this video and your general tipps about budgeting! But as a student that does only work additionaly in holidays to finance trips, I mostly spend all of my money on essentials - but thats probably how student life is :D
Legit, there needs to be a class on this in school. Kayln saving us all.
i love #girlboss so much! It makes me so happy when you put Sophia Aomurso's qoutes before the video
I always love when you do this kind of videos!! Love you!! ❤❤❤
I love your Adulting 101 serie!! It's soooo helpful!! Can you make a video about tips on moving out from your parents' house? You're the best ❤️❤️ #canadarepresent
