3 yrs. Ago I brought oud wood home on a tester strip and it filled my home office with the classic scent. That lasted 24 hrs.! But last winter I sprayed myself with a tester of oud wood 4-5 times on the same shop and it was barely noticeable 😢. How sad it is when companies do this to their loyal customers. You speak the truth brother.

People who buy new versions of these fragrances can’t understand why they have so much hype, as they are nothing like they used to be. They don’t realise just how good they used to be - its sad when companies destroy their own legacy products. 😢

As always, very well done, informative and useful video, thanks! 😊 Tom Ford has recently introduced a new ‘Parfum’ version of Oud Wood, which, according to many, is supposed to address exactly the issues you mention in the video, although others say it doesn’t really mange to do that. If you’ll have the chance to test it some time in the future, it would be super interesting to hear your opinion about it!

just to share my experience, I have a lot of perfumes that were produced in the 90s to early 2000s and until now the fragrance has not changed, for example Green Polo lasts all day with Chanel Blu EDT produced in 2000 and when I bought Chanel Blue EDP in 2020 the aroma was not as strong as EDT and quickly disappeared even though I had sprayed it 15 times. If you look at old perfumes, they don't have an expiry date and the aroma is strong and lasts a long time. Currently, designer and niche perfumes have an expiry date, this is very doubtful.

Tom ford was sold so it doesn't surprise me I think tom ford as a brand has become mainstream average designer fragrance brand at best. If you want powerful niche fragrance then buy from a fragrance house that focus only on fragrance. Parfims de marly for example or amouage initio penhaligon's

Yeah, unfortunately oud wood is now very bad, it was already bad a few years ago... Took me quite some years to find a very good alternative, zaurac from spirits of kings, a crappy dupe brand disguised as "luxury" although all their compositions are clones, nonetheless that one is a very "good old" oud wood, projects nicely and last around 6 to 8h, is a very good one actually

In my humble opinion, fragcomm should be moving on and forgetting about all those reformulated junks, especially from the big names. There are excellent fragrances out there made by lesser known indie and niche houses. And worst of all, they are even increasing their prices. Recently, Neeb of the channel AROMATIXX said the same thing about Creed Aventus. People have said the same thing about YSL La Nuit De L'Homme. The same thing said about Creed Silver Mountain Water,, Armani Aqua Di Gio, even Amouage Interlude Man (which I had to sell out because I was so disappointed it is no longer a beast!).... So also Millesime Imperial. The stories go on and on and on... So, let's move on.
Thank you so much for the update.

Some fragrances lose in strength. Some fragrances lose their smell. Both are really bad. I've had so many favorite fragrances butchered or lessened over the years.

Oh dear! One of the reasons I picked up 3 excellent clones of the stuff last year. It was inevitable. And substitutions for restricted compounds are ongoing! But I suppose you could always use it as a clothing scent in the same way Ralph Lauren used Purple Label to scent their Purple Label suits. Might keep better in the fibres. Appreciate the heads up!

This is Tom Ford. Had Oud Wood and its extremly weak. Sold... Now I have Versace Oud Noir and I do like it much more.
Also have Noir and Noir Extreme both are skin scents at best.
Sprayed 5 of NE 5 minutes later the person who was sitting exactly next to me said that he smells nothing.
Sprayed 5 of NE went to local Douglas and spoke 40 mins with the sales associate and she said that one of her favourite is NE. Not noticed I am wearing that one. xd
