    12:53 It's important to note about these two subroutines that they are mutually exclusive to each other. You can't have an anti-awakening android that can also form emotional attachment, probably because I'm pretty sure Emotion Simulators gives a increase to a droids likelihood of awakening, so taking both would not only make no sense, but completely avoid the consequences of either choice.

    Making low power firewalled androids that only use deep drills and ground penetrating scanners all day is so powerful. They end up paying for themselves

      After you get this set up, what I like to do is start production on a security team. Androids designed to stand in idle guard at all times at the gates and around town to provide protection when a raid comes. Low power, firewall and sleep mode are crucial besides the skill amplifiers. Simply put, once you get enough, you don't really have to worry about rushing your colonists over to an immediate threat because you'll always have a response on standby at the scene, yet they aren't active at all times and therefore are only draining their needs when they are needed. Just give them proper weapons and put them in warcaskets, and your national security issue no longer exists.

    This mod would pair very well with Save Our Ship 2, due to the ludicrous resource requirements.

      The mod simply called 'Metals Trader' certainly helps with both of these mods too. Just need to run a crazy drug ring to be able to afford all of the materials.

      The hurdle is just getting your first one for mining. He can just sit on a deep drill 24/7 and then it's just compounding from there.

    The VFE Dryads also works, as the awakened medicine maker does produce neutroamine iirc, giving this weird crossover between tree lovers and androids

      Except that it's only 2 neutro every 5 days. You basically have to dedicated a tree to pumping out awakened medicine makers to maintain the soft cap before separation sickness starts killing them to support just a couple.

    What a breakdown! Another great video! I never realized how insane it would be to actually have an android in my colony until this video! I only managed to find corpses from space battles that happened to also be androids.
    Looking forward to your next video! Listening to you discuss these mods is so much better than reading the mod descriptions themselves. Sometimes the mod descriptions don’t give me everything I want to see, so this helps me tremendously! Not only that, but the quality of your videos are also very good!

    Fun-Fact, you can totally install bionics and archotechs on the Androids. I don't know about every bionic but the arms, legs and eyes seem to work fine. This mod is really cool and can be quite powerful if you play your cards right. I hope that they add more customisation, like the genes we have for Humans. Longjump legs, extra melee damage, robust. There are so many cool genes they miss out on.

    6:08 you can also use prisoners for the analyser if your doing an android only colony

      Aye, you can keep 4 on hand if you want to keep it as Android only, might be best to 'borrow' their legs for a while so they never get the urge to try and break out of prison.

      Glad I could help! It is definitely one of the most overwhelming feeling VE mods but it's just because it's a lot of visual noise. Stuff like VE Ancients and Mechanoids is technically more complicated, but way less scary because it isn't just one big page of buttons and choices thrown at you.
      Once you've got over the initial feeling of drowning in choices, it's pretty straightforward.

      Yeah, same feeling with the gene system of Biotech too. After a while I got used to it and realised it was easy to use, just annoying to track down the genes you want lol.

    I wish I watched this before I put the time into setting up my newest game lol. I just started a custom Crashlanded scenario with 2 Baseliners, 1 Animakin (from VRE Phytokin), and 1 Awakened Android. Did I kinda screw myself by starting with an Awakened Android without the proper research unlocked nor having access to neutromine? Didn't even cross my mind at the time. Think i should just dev mode things a bit? I don't really mind doing that.
    This was a fantastic video and way more indepth than I was expecting! I'm definitely gonna check out your other vids. Great work, keep it up!

    I remember rescuing an awakened android and later making my own that later awakened. They were both high in social so they just ran the restaurant and eventually got married to eachother. It's definitely a fun one to play around with once you get far enough into a colony

    One overlooked way to get Neutro in Vanilla Expanded is Deepchem. Deepchem refineries can actually refine deepchem into neutro, as well as chemfuel (naturally) and synthread.

      Since so many of the other VE packs have launched I rarely go back to chem/deepchem it didn't even cross my mind it had that functionality. Helix gas has me all kinds of spoiled and I usually just throw down outposts for the tricky bits. Good spot!

      How do you refine deepchem into neutramine? I didn't even know that was possible. Been growing neutroleaf. I have no use to refine deep chem into chem fuel so far the deposits just clutter up my map when looking for more useful resources.

      @@MysteriousFawx I really like the Mod: Missing Fabrication Recipes. It gives the Option to craft Plasteel, Neutro, Synthread and Hyperweave.
      Its expensive and Time consuming but it feels pretty fair in Terms of Balance imo.

    I absolutely adore this mod, it's like the mechanoid crafting part of Biotech but better
    Now I'm deep in a save where a human android duo crashlands and after a refugee betrayal decides to only recruit/create Androids
    Oh I did frankenstein a mod to add many cosmetics for Androids. After painfully scrounging up all the materials, I definitely want to customise really cool Androids hahaha

      I'm doing something similar with a duo awakened with the rule that I can only build new androids, not accept them from the quest the game keeps spamming.

    I think giving Androids deathless could be a thematic way to help rebalance them. It would make sense since they aren't organic and so can be put back together from a pretty broken state.

    I'm playing through the Awakened Androids scenario but only two rather than three because of RP reasons and I've made a point of never accepting any quest android and only crafting my own. Idk about standard play, but in this scenario I found them extremely powerful. If you are proactive neither Advanced Components nor Neuro are that hard to come by. I just sell drugs and dusters and buy Neuro in bulk in the settlement over, and I snatch every Adv. Component I can. After all my Androids work almost 24/7, and after building three more, two of which have Presence Firewall, I have an extremely skilled and efficient workforce that attracts relatively small raids. I also gave my custom Awakened Androids Mechlink capability so I added some mechyboys to the mix.
    Not being able to heal naturally isn't a big deal when you can patch up any damage in a short time with a good crafter. Normal pawns take days to heal.

    Chemfuel to neut is a good roleplay mod to have. Makes it so that you feel like your synthesizing fuel for your androids.

    One weird thing though, and this is a frequent bug experienced if you look at the comments in steam workshop, but unawakened androids stay at mood 32% no matter what happens to them, there is no way for them to ever awaken without using character edit to force them to have 100% mood(or zero mood).

    Quick question about androids. Can they be given special limbs or bionics limbs? You know like drill arms or field hands?

      Yep! They function exactly like a human.
      So the standard android limbs operate at the same efficiency as baseliner parts, if you install bionics or more specialised tools, they'll gain the stat bonuses.
      Just remember that some body parts are going to be meaningless on an Android as they don't use stats like Hunger.

    I made my androids combat bots and put them in warcaskets from VRE- Pirates and then shut them down until a raid happened.

      I feel you on that one. I've had this in my modded playlist since it launched and making this video was the first actual time I really used it.
      Definitely one of the more complex race mods added. It's super unique, but it's just easier to stick to normal genes for most colonies.

    Great video as usual.
    Can anyone explain how to influence basic android mood in order to get awakened android?
    From what I can see food or beauty bonuses do not work.

      Easiest way is to give them the subroutine to form relationships and either keep them really happy or really miserable. Even though you can't see it on their mood bar, it will be tracked. You're essentially looking for an inspiration or a severe mental break, having the relationship subroutine makes it more likely that they'll awaken.

    I’m running a VFE playthrough right now. And I got a whiney awakened android as a quest reward. He feels no emotion except for when he gets rejected and his pessimist trait meaning he’s always pissed.

    You forgot one very very important point about unawakened androids - they can be reprogrammed. Want extra miners? Want extra crafters? Just stick them in the machine for a but and voila!

      Mentioned it in the bit about the behaviour station, that they lose the ability to be skill changed when they awaken ;)

      ​@@MysteriousFawx really not, you just need to arrest them, I did that with a piromanyc colonist thinking that would lose that trait and become an unawakened android, but surprisingly it still has its passions and now have the new set of skills, but idk, it could have been provoked by a weird combination of.mods, but most of them are Vanilla Expanded, and at less for me this.game wasn't that hard, every ~7 days or more i get a nre quest for an android colonist, selling flake, yayo and organs make easy to buy new stuff and my trade ideology makes a constant supply of trade caravans

      @@Arkhmar I just did a mecnator run the bots are just over all worse in every way than the android mod You would think they would give you something to work with the hoops to jump through are too much for not enough pay off IMHO
