As a guitar teacher this game is useful for younger students. It gives them a fun way to practice
This is fun just to play along songs. I don't know anything that is even close to this. You don't even need to change tones for songs. Beats tabs any day.
Rachelf: My wife came in as I was watching you and said, "Who is that wearing my T-shirt?" She loves the T-shirt, but forgot that you actually created it. That was my laugh of the day. Great video. I have never heard of Rocksmith before, but I might just have to get it to have more fun in my life (especially since we are all "sheltering-in-place" these days in California. Thanks for posting this! Cheers.
That's amazing 😄, thank you for sharing!
@@RachelfGuitar I just mailed you my CD album and calendar to your P. O. Box. You will receive it on Saturday, April 4th. Since the Priority Mail package is made of plasticized bubble wrap, you may want to handle it will paper towels and put it in your garage for three days before opening it. Hey, maybe you should write a song about the Coronavirus! I know I am. Thanks for everything. Cheers.
@@jeemalsoknownasjimhawkins1294 That is so kind of you! I'm so sorry though, because of the Coronavirus situation in my city we are (and have been for a while) in shelter-in-place and are only allowed to go outside for essential to health reasons. I haven't left my apartment in over 2 weeks now with unfortunately no end in sight, so I'm not sure when I will actually be able to retrieve the package from the post office :(. It could likely be 1-2 months (or more) before I am able to check the P.O. Box depending on how the situation progresses. Again, I'm so sorry about this! I really appreciate you thinking of sending it out to me and I can't wait to check it out whenever I am able!
Do you happen to have any sort of digital version I could potentially check out in the mean time? Hope you and your family are doing well in these unusual times!
@@RachelfGuitar We live down here in Carlsbad (San Diego), so we have similar "stay at home" restrictions. Post Offices are considered essential businesses, so when I mailed out the 100 CD/Calendar packages to my friends, we put on our face masks and went in. Everyone maintained at least a 6-foot distance, but it still gave us pause to wonder if this was the smart thing to do during this time. Since I am not noted for being terribly "smart" I went ahead anyway. Duh! If there is a way for me to send you my personal email address, without your 150,000 followers finding out, I would be glad to send it to you and then I can send you some digital files; otherwise, we'll all just wait this out. Cheers!
@@jeemalsoknownasjimhawkins1294 The situation is so unusual and evolving so quickly, it's hard to know what is best! I was also going to the post office pretty frequently until the lock down here. I have a UA-cam email that I can share that would work when you get the chance! It's just rachelfguitar@gmail.com. Thank you so much and sorry about the package retrieving difficulty!
I just bought rocksmith remastered and I cant wait to learn to shred on my axe :)
It has a slight delay at times, the chord needs remastered, too. If not on the Epiphone line, the signal experiences a pretty noticeable delay at times.
Well what happens is there is a video delay so when using something like an hdmi it lags a bit. Rocksmith was designed for rca inputs (the white, red, and yellow. Plugs) and or to directly plug into compositor; laptop via usb,
I read the title wrong, thought you played with aerosmith
😂😂
I love your attitude, you are definitely a great motivational speaker. Please keep putting out videos. This days we need a person with your kind of passion for life, for music and the instrument. Thank you for all your positive vibes your encouragement is well received.
I am play this game every day aaaaaa
Me too! I love Rocksmith
I don't have the cable for it. I did buy a usb to guitar cable but it doesn't work. I tried both the pc and PS4. I can't find the no cable patch download. What would you recommend?

@@shannonwagner2134 l just ordered a replacement cable on Amazon and it came yesterday. $25
@@shannonwagner2134 I’ve heard you can use an interface. Search how to use an audio interface with rock smith. The interface is for pc or Mac By The Way
I learned playing the guitar from rocksmith only. No single lesson except youtube. What i realized was that my sightreading became really good after the first few months but when it comes to solos i still can't read them properly. I found out that i missed to practise some techniques. Started practising a few months ago and the progress is amazing. So if you start with rocksmith don't forget to sit down and practise. You will have a much easier life in "learn a song" then.
I have been waiting for this video so long!! Thanks Rachel.
I've been using Rocksmith for a few years now. For lockdown it's awesome with all the creator downloadable content (Tina Turner to Amon Amaroth). Favorite "arcade" game has to be Scale Racer. Not that I'm burning through scales like Zakk Wylde or anything. But I've been using this almost daily the past month. Great tool to get started and build confidence. Not much theory would be my only downside to it. Oh and no extended range instruments (7 or 8 string guitar, 5 or 6 string bass), although it does cover altered tunings (Open E, Drop D, Drop C#, ect) to make up for that. The tuner is pretty damn accurate is well. I've done more than a few set-ups and intonation adjustments with it.
So cool! I never knew that was available! Thanks Rachel!
AAAA THE SMILE ON UR FACE IS DEFINITELY INFECTIOUS, i’m a 13 year old girl who just got a guitsr for her britt bday like a week ago. i can do bends, slides, some chords amd i can play a bunch of riffs and solos. i honestly taught myself using tabs and i think it sounds pretty good. i still need to learn mkre and improve and this kind of learning can’t be found using youtube or tabs so my dad told me if i really want the game i can get it but i decided to do more research. this video makes the game look really fun rewarding snd it seems like it works? my spring break just started and i’m so excited to learn more!!!
This looks fun. Thanks for covering the gameplay! I might buy it now
WE NEED MORE ROCKSMITH VIDEOS FROM YOU- PLEASE;;;;
10/10 excellent kazoo content
I’ve been playing Rocksmith for 4 year and it has helped me a lot. After a year of playing it I got real lessons and also still played Rocksmith. It really does help you learn guitar. Still play to this day and spend so much money on DLC
That's awesome! Have any favorite songs to play in it?
Rachelf Love playing oasis!!! It was the first pack I ever bought and still love all there songs in the game
@Mynoah16 - You might wanna check out Customsforge website and you can get tons of fan made custom dlc on there for free. Pretty much any song you want on there (with the exception of the official dlc, they don't allow those on there)
I really enjoy playing with rocksmith, allot of songs to learn. Rhythm, lead, or bass. It is really enjoyable.
I had problems drinking my coffee during the Kazoo part. Brilliant!
To begin with I had some persistent issues with note recognition. It took a while to realise that the issue was my guitar's poor setup. This motivated me to learn how to setup my guitar myself and now that it's optimised it plays pretty much flawlessly. If you find that you're missing notes that you'd swear you hit I guarantee it's a setup issue. Dux Redux will definitely highlight if the guitar's intonation is off; on mine for instance, the high e string was too low at the bridge and so would mute itself against the higher frets. Pickup/pole height (not too far or too close either) was also critical to getting the thin strings to register notes higher up the neck for me. Bear this in mind when you read reviews from people complaining about missing notes.
I love you and your videos. You seems so happy. Keep on sharing your music .
I love your energy, that you smile and have fun: instant sub!
"I'm not that great at improvising"

LOL
I remember watching the first few videos you uploaded. Great to see how far you’ve come 👊
Thank you for sticking around! 🤘
Well that was fun to watch, you're so adorable!
Love the videos
Awesome video Rachel keep it up 🤘
Thank you! 🤘
I do like playing with Rocksmith, is really fun, you have exercises, it comes with songs to learn, and eventually new songs appear in the store.
I've been playing this a lot recently and it's been a lot of fun but I don't think I'm learning as much as I could be. But it's great for getting me motivated as a beginner.
This looks interesting lol. Me being a gamer I can see myself learning guitar without realizing that I'm learning since I'd be playing a game lol
Great video! btw in Session Mode, you pick the size of the scale position with your arrow keys, also the notes light up as you can see depending of wich chord that is being played by the band. So the point of session mode is not to play what you want but rather playing with the chord changes of the band :)
In Jam mode the chord never changes, put it in blues and it will play three different chords in a twelve bar sequence, your welcome, only took me 30 hours to figure out. If you want your guitar to track better, go to tune and at the bottom right hand of the screen, choose calibrate.
I've been learning solely with Rocksmith for the past 3 months. It's amazing to be able to play along with your favorite music with the tabs right on the screen AND it scales the difficulty for you so as you learn the song it introduces more complex chords and adds more things. It's so flexible and dynamic. The downside of course is you have to buy the songs you want. But overall, it's a major reason I've kept playing.
The main problem I have with rocksmith is that at the beginning it's easy and later on you get more notes. Problem with this is that sometimes you get used to a certain fingering and when the game makes it harder for you you have to get used to a new fingering. What I usually do is put max difficulty but with slow speed it sort of helps.
Amazing guitarist! 😍
i started as an absolute beginner with rocksmith and hated it at first because the lessons were too difficult haha, but the learn a song feature kept me interested and now i can play songs i never thought possible. its great for learning new songs fast and easy. it doesnt teach you a lot of things like good technique and many other important things but its great at keeping you motivated to play guitar at the start of your musical journey
Very cool to hear that it's worked so well for you! 😀🎸
I highly recommend Rocksmith to anyone that wants to learn guitar or bass :). Only thing it doesn't "really" teach you is music theory and weird techniques such as whammy tricks. It's main focus is learning songs, but it has a lot to offer :). Keep in mind I'm 31 and have been playing off and on since I was 5. Self taught and mostly learned through books and videos (mostly Petrucci and Vai), but... it's something I wish I had in my preteen years :). I probably would've kept playing then :D.
I wanna learn to play like slash
I’ve always wanted to get this to see how it is
You’re amazing! I have been playing guitar since I was 8 now I’m 13
New subscriber here having just stumbled upon your channel, the band mode on Rocksmith looks really good for jamming along to, keep up the good work Rachel!... 🎸👍🙂
Tone designer is definitely the best part of this game.. You basically have every sound at your disposal
The secret to the string skip saloon to get it to really hear what's going on. You need to mute. Constantly. I mean each time you hit a string, mute everything. Of course left hand muting works well since you're not really using it. Or... Like the guitarist I was in my youth, lift the palm enough to get it to ring, then heavy palm it, but it does work, as long as there isn't excess noise.
Session mode, reads the volume and attack transients over time, to be able to adapt its own dynamics. It plays a pretty good rhythm and the chords are very simple, so if you stay in key it will always sound alright. I'm simplifying a little. The amount of code voodoo to make it happen is insane.
for others that have trouble with it tracking the pitch correctly or the The rest of the games in general, To get them tracking well, one, don't use an active guitar if you can help it, it HATES my Schecter. it Loves my les Paul. Something to also keep in mind, it's VERY sensitive to changes in volume and intonation. So a good setup is a great idea, It doesn't like the mud that comes with heavier strings. So playing 8s or 9s is highly recommended (I normally play anything from 10s to 12s, it does not like the darker tone of it). It isn't fond of my neck pickup. it's not bright enough for their code to handle properly.
So the advice, make sure you have appropriate strings.
Make sure you have a good setup on the guitar (intonation is important. also important is pickup height, if they are close you can get warble in the tone which causes rocksmith to not like it, even before that warble is audible to the player the game may freak out. so worth noting)
Calibrate. Every time you play. It gets really weird about input gain, if things aren't tracking well, check your tuning, open and at the octave (or octave harmonic and octave fretted). if the tuning is good at open and octave. Calibrate again.
Play on the bridge pickup.
Make sure your tone knobs are CRANKED. Their code that processes the audio makes that assumption, I advise against playing that way outside of the game, but their code is designed to have everything at max so it can handle the rest tone wise.
if you're using an active guitar. on PC, go to the windows input settings and turn down the gain there a lot. Then calibrate, the game will adjust the gain, but if you don't start low, it doesn't quite get it right in my experience. I've not used the active on my roomates xbox so on that I'm not helpful, maybe it works better on consoles without having to mess with it.
if that's still not getting it sounding or tracking right a more expensive (and a lot more work) option is using a recording interface as input, this requires a 3rd party library to work, annnnnd it requires a lot of trial and error with the input settings inside an ini file to get it right. but it brings down the latency a lot and presents a cleaner signal, and rocksmith does work great that way.
The game has it's limits in a lot of ways on the technical side of things. HOWEVER if everything is set up properly. It is surprising reliable.
love your Videos
I bought a copy to start learning with but found it too hard for a complete beginner. It’s now been shelved until I can play better and then I’ll give it another try.
Then again, I might try it again for the games.
Definitely worth checking them out if you already have it!
I had the same experience. I think that never being a gamer made the learning curve to steep for me. I got more out of UA-cam and rarely mess with RockSmith.
Rachelf I definitely will check it out again. The games will break the monotony of practicing scales and trying to get clean chords.
@@SypherLXVII-MySixStringJourney
I sucked when I first started but I just thought of it as a game. Just started doing missions and trying to get higher % on each song. After awhile I could play most songs.
Im a complete beginner and i find it quite easy to understand it , The lessons are a great help , I am a guitar hero pro though so maybe that has helped me in alot of ways
the greatest video on UA-cam
Make sure your intonation is spot on!
Rachel your guitar sounds great! What effects/pedal are you using in this video? Love your videos you keep me motivated!
I love it so much. It's a fun way to play with songs. And they have some good exercises as well.
Awesome! Have a favorite song to play in it?

I loved the kazoo jam session lmao
Session mode is really a joy. I think its one of the best hidden gems. Got me to practice scales and to learn how to improvise a bit. Still bad but it gets me playing daily.
It is a ton of fun playing around with it :)
The Kazoo part made me laugh SO hard Rachel LOL
I cracked up at the kazoo. Completely lost it LOL
I’ve had it for a while but now I’m trying to play it more
Hi Rachelf! Is there any chance to you to make a video tutorial about how you change your strings in the Floyd Rose bridge?
Very cool video btw!!
LOL wow I had no idea this existed. Very cool!
It's on sale on steam right now.
Oh nice! 🎸
i bought this game a week ago! Its really fun!
The Kazoo was hilarious 😂
I think the kazoo sounded more like a whoopie cushion. 😆 I really like the jam mode! I wonder if anyone has just a freestanding jamming program? My son has Rocksmith for bass, but I don't think he ever tried it. I'll have to tell him about the jam mode. Thanks for the test drive. 👍✨
I have been using rocksmith for over 1000 hours now started out without no knowledge and I can say I'm pretty decent now :) It definitely can be tricky to get in to at the start but if you keep at it it is definitely a good way to improve your guitar playing. One tip is to use an own amp (requires some more pedals/switches) but it is definitely worth it in the end as you can hear yourself way better.
It's so cool
My brother got rock smith for me a few years ago, because of the way life goes I haven’t had time to try it out more than the first few days I had it. This reminded me of it and I definitely will be trying it out again 😂
Awesome, hope you have fun with it!
Thanks for the review, what do you think of or have you tried Yousician?
I love Rocksmith. Me and my brother love to play it.
Awesome! 🤘
Awesome thats where i learned guitar
I'm actually not into games but in the beginning trying to figure out what to learn first was a nightmare so I just went with something where I could hear my progress. I think it does help to a point but recalling chords by name, not so much and actually remembering a whole song, not so much either unless you stay strictly on one song?
Most people are better visual learners which I think is their selling point. Been using it for about a year and a half.
Im learning with rocksmith, i have the 1st and 2nd. I only play the 1st right now been playing for a year in the event mode. I like the super ducks, Corddead as my top 2 in guitarcade. Overall a it can be very challenging at times, because when you think you have the pattern down it will add notes.
I’ve been using Rocksmith to learn bass. The lessons are pretty cool, but sometimes it doesn’t register when I play a note and tell me I’m not playing it right even though I’m playing exactly the string/fret it’s telling me to. My favorite mode is the Learn A Song section. Love trying to play along with Queensrÿche or Skid Row. Definitely a challenge trying to keep up with those guys. I’ve all but mastered Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar On Me (eat your heart out, Sav! 😆). 🤘🏻
I love rocksmith. I'm on day 21 of my rocksmith 60day challenge and I am seeing progress. It's really hard though
Go to settings in rocksmith 2014 .you can actually turn the lag off.
yeah love rocksmith myself. Mainly tone designer, and learn a song always at full difficulty, pretty often every week lol. After watching your video I am thinking I should use guitarcade and session mode a lot more now, looks a lot more fun than i remember lol.
It's funny, I bought it 2 days ago... I tried it a couple of years ago but definitely too complicated for beginners in my opinion. Now it's cool
Jonathan Rousseau I would disagree. I started off on rocksmith and I found it a pretty easy concept to start off on. I wouldn’t say to stick with it as a permanent learning tool but it really gave me the inspiration to continue playing guitar
Its cheaper then a guitar teacher! Best investment I ever made! + With real tone cable you can record your music into music maker software too! Just discovered how to record on FL Studio! So excited to create some bangers!
I love rocksmith really good for practice i would not say its perfect but it's a lot of fun. I do recommend if anyone has the PC version is look into free CDLC there is thousands out there which is not in the original or official DLC you can find just about anything you want to play
Just ordered a guitar and a real tone cable. I will finally try the game
I use it alot
Hello i just found this channel today and you are really cool to watch 😎
I liked before i watch your video❤❤❤❤
Great stuff. Those inverted string colours though
personally ive found using a audio interface has a higher degree of acuracy than the cable that comes with the game. even a cheap one i got from amazon for $30, which if you're like me and already have one for recording mics, keyboards.....ect makes the game a lot more responsive and accurate. you do have to launch the game through a different little launcher but its easy enough to get going just by googling it and i would recommend it to anyone that buys the game on steam and doesnt have the cable or that already had a audio interface. made the game 110% better for me at least..
Hi Rachel, Cool video. Have you ever heard or tried Band-in-Box. It is a computer program where you can set-up a faux band to play along with you. It's not a game like Rocksmith more of tool for musicians, but you can get a whole session going with a computer. It also has these game-like learning tools where you can test your ear or other musicianship aspects.
*Quarantine* . the best period to learn guitar
Just ordered in the pc adapter
I could have a lot fun with this perfect for a person who's in a rut 🤘🤘🤘🤘
😀🤘
Did you used the rocksmith cable? Or Just you 2i2 and the normal 1/4 cable connected to your 2i2?
Hi Rachel, wondered if you could say how long you should keep your guitar 4 until u get a new one
Hey you can get Rocksmith 1 on sale and then use the import tool to get the previous version’s songs
You only get a few songs that route... you don't get all the previous songs from version 1. The only converted a few songs from the first game to be compatible with the current game. Although Customsforge website is a nice place to get pretty much any song you want (that isn't a official dlc release)
I used to play Rocksmith on my Xbox 360 years ago and it was loads of fun. I've recently tried playing on my MacBook Pro and the latency is terrible. I've tried all of the suggestions on the Rocksmith site but to no avail. Wish i could play it though. I miss jamming with the real tunes.
Hi i own ROCKSMITH 2014 for my computer and i like some of the stuff with the so called game, but it has taught me a lot about guitar and i am learning new songs but still trying to figure out SESSION MODE but after watching your video i now have a better idea on how to use SESSION MODE ty KEEP ROCKING
Way to rock that kazoo lol😋🤟
Hi there, I'm lefthanded. Is there a lefthandmode on the game? Will it be perfectly playable then or will it be all messed up? Hope to hear from you. Thanks
When yo can, buy you a Peavey head amp, 3120model and 5650 too, this will a big to your sound guitar, you can download the application to pc software to you listen and practique head amp simulator,
This is very cool!! Congratulations Champion!!!
Dope
Do u use an audio interface for it?
I heard you have to buy a special USB cable.
You can use an interface, but the game works a lot better with their cable.
There are some kind of involved ways to get it to work with an interface, but for the video I had to use the special USB cable because I needed to also record my computer audio and couldn't get that working properly if I used the interface with the game. So it is possible to get it working with an interface, but might be a bit tricky to setup properly!
@@r3apergamer539 Do you mean that it's simply easier to set up or that the gameplay itself functions better with the proprietary cable? Thanks.
The cable you need for optimum play is the Rocksmith RealTone cable. An update happened a while back that removed the compulsory need for such a cable by allowing a microphone to be close to your guitar/bass while you play but you would have to be careful that there was not too much background noise where you played or the game might struggle to pick up the notes you are playing.
Were you using the original cable ? I read that the original cable isn't the best ... as well as using humbuckers is the best for the accuracy of the software.
Never played guitar until my little one wante it, we then discovered rocksmith, man he insited for me to play hours on Scale Warriors, yes if I can play one thing blind its the first scale :D :D I bought him since then a mini strat works quite well, now he plays Scale Warriors :) thou for a child in all of the games the difficulty progressin is way too fast. I’m so much looking forward to buy a second cable and play splitscreen with him that will be fun!
Glad to see Rocksmith in 2020. I love this game but my Real Tone Cable broke last december so without it there are few annoying problems. Yes, You can play using audio interface or mic input but You must set 16 bit 48 kHz input/output. Still You can get distorted audio or just clean signal, but You can use real amp or guitar sim software - it works! Also there are few versions of NoCableLauncher if You have problems. Songs are to boring? to expensive? not Your taste? Try CDLC found on CustomsForge. You need to buy 1 DLC (mostly Cherub Rock). Have fun!
Cherub Rock... The Best song I've bought that i've never played :D
Buying that one song unlocks the ability to have 7000+ songs ... Best $2.99 ever spent!
Rocksmith is awesome 🤘
🤘
Hello. And great video . I see you have a beautiful blue Ibanez electric guitar . Could you mention the model and price of your guitar . i tried amazon but did not see it . Thank you
You are super inspiring, can you give me a quick tip on palm muting and strumming faster
Some tvs you have to turn video settings to Game mode or you will have input lag and the game response will be off.
It's a game setting thing... there is a latency adjustment in the settings to dial in the proper latency for your machine and hardware setup.
Try intonating your guitar, it might be slightly off. I’ve never had a problem with the note tracking
wish i culd play that well
