TTV_PANDA 09 maybe that’s the face you get when you master the guitar.
JosuhaoMiranda Maybe
JosuhaoMiranda I have really improved by watching her
TTV_PANDA 09 That’s great!
I bought my first guitar this past weekend I hope I can get any better
Lol
#1 thing new players should know: Rachelf!
I've been playing for about 10 months, i have limited time weekly to practice, so I'm mega slow sadly 🙄 and get frustrated on my lack of progress. I watch you and MelSickScream as you both inspire me to carry on. Thanks x
Paul Manning I learned 3 songs in 2 days WTF
@@DiscontinuedChannelOne Noddy badge in the post to you!
Paul Manning is that good?
Absolutely!
How does one look like she is bursting to laughter every second :D
Yes
She’s a genuinely happy person nothing wrong with that
@@plex3yy26 wtf you don't know that!
@@plex3yy26 maybe she high af

I’m trying to learn guitar. I’ll come back each year with an update
Swirlzee good luck on barre chords!
If you forget, I'm going to cough on u...
Keep me updated it's been my first week playing and learning, my fingers are completely numb. If you have any tips as to what to learn or what to focus on let me know please! :) best of luck to you.
@@pikey4life hahaha don't worry bro it was the same for me in the first few weeks of playing, you'll get used to it. And if ur on this channel I'm supposing u like metal, rock. I'm a death metal guitarist so early on I just learned cannibal corpse, carcass songs etc. So just learn songs that you listen to and love. It will make it more fun
RedHawk 7 Someone looking back on this comment in 3 years or so is going to be confused
I'm 20 now and tried playing when i was around 15 or so but now I just started to get serious about playing and my grandmother decided if I can learn to play my Stratocaster she'll pass down her Les Paul from the 60s that her dad bought when he was in the Air Force when she learned how to play and since she doesn't play since she retired from doing shows I'm the only one in the family now that is interested in playing
That les paul is going to be worth like 20 grand if its in good condition
You are so lucky I dont think I'll ever be able to get a les Paul.
@@swishsplash it's in almost perfect condition, I think if you look up "Les Paul Unburst" it'll show what it looks like or give you an idea
@@dot.dot.5146 I know I'm trying to learn as much as possible just to play it and call it mine
She was slightly older than you are when she started. Look at the progress she made in 4 years
I smiled when I saw there was a new Rachelf video!😀
:)
I'm 55. Not good at guitar after 37 years of trying. But I'll keep trying. Just to follow her. She's so inspire.
she makes me feel so excited to play...you can tell she loves it!! staying with her for awhile!!
11:10 Best tip of em all. I've been doing this for the last 2 years and it's really helping me improve
I just started doing this. and uploaded to my channel. when i look back i notices A LOT of mistakes smh
I cannot agree more about the warm up. I have a set warmup for my muscles which I have done a video on but I ought to include your run up and down the fret board.
Man she's such a great teacher. Learning stuff I should've learned centuries ago 😔🤚
You are such a really great speaker. You exude happiness in your speaking and playing and it's really enjoyable to watch and listen to you. ❤️
Much appreciated, definitely needed this 🔥
Had to quarantine due to COVID a couple weeks ago and after going stir crazy for being trapped in the house for just a day, I realized I have no excuse to not practice guitar. I obviously have ways to go but now I have developed a habit of practicing an hour per day, I can play 12 chords and can transition between most of them except for the B7 chord. Thank you JustinGuitar. If anyone else has any other beginner guitarist resources, let me know!
I’m buying my first guitar as soon as quarantine! I’m excited.
indecisive youtuber sameee!!! I’m so looking foward to it!!
Good luck man 👍
did you buy it???
Got frustrated??🤣🤣
how are you hahahshx
These are really practical and useful! Been playing for 20 sum years but have never gotten to the level of playing that I aspire to be. I always wondered how you have progressed so much for a short period, and now I know. You are an inspiration, thanks a lot!
Rachel's motivation and guitar teaching techniques are so great! Makes playing and learning on every skill level more enjoyable!
Thank you so much!
A lot of these are things that are helpful for anyone really! I found that recording myself to keep that progress is so helpful! I used to constantly record my progress. Now I don’t keep such close tabs on it, as my progress are songs or videos I record for UA-cam, so I don’t always keep the initial recorded footage of me just playing without having edited stuff, but it’s still useful to see the progress, even if it’s not quite the same as just getting my practice routine or whatever I’m trying to figure out.
I just started learning guitar, and man I’m loving it! There are some great tips in this video
Thanks for the tips! I'm very inspired by your progress and videos.
Great as always! Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you Rachelf. Going through this now and into my second year. Appreciate the great tips! Robert
Thanks for all tips! 🤘
Cool to see your approach! =D I also recently uploaded a quite similar tip video ^^
Just watched your video, awesome advice! The string gauge tip is definitely really important to know. I also initially thought I had to switch to 10s but I'm much more comfortable with 9s and hybrid 9/10s!
@@RachelfGuitar that's the thing. For most people .10 might be better but this doesn't apply to everyone 🤷🏼♀️😂
These are really great tips, thanks for sharing! :3
I could not agree with Briansgate more! #1 Tip: Watch the Rachelf videos! I started watching 2.5 years ago. I told myself that if Rachelf could do it, so could I. I now have a home recording studio and just had my first CD album produced. Rachel, I will be sending that CD album and another surprise to you very soon. We never know how we touch other people's lives, but you, Rachelf, have touched everyone's lives in an incredibly positive way (especially for someone like me, who was a complete novice). This is all great fun. Thank you so much! Cheers.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for always being so kind in general, it means a lot to me! Congratulations on the album, that is so exciting! I can't wait to hear it :)
@@RachelfGuitar I was literally just finishing a vocal track on my seventh original song, since completing my first CD album, when I saw your Reply. Little did you know what a profound effect you would have on me with your encouragement and those fantastic videos. To anyone else who is reading this: The sky is the limit! If we can do it, so can you! One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to never give up on your dreams. Carry on. Cheers!
Thank you for another brilliant video. Some very useful advice in this one. Your best tip was about getting frustrated. It has been useful to have my channel documenting my progress. When it get frustrated with my progress, I look at my videos and other peoples and it makes me feel much better about my progress.
Thank you! That's great to hear, having videos of your playing to look back at can be a great motivator :)
This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Totally agree! Awesome stuff Rachel you rock!
Thanks for the great advice Rachel, i'm still learning so everything helps!!
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it and learned some things I haven't thought of. 🥰
Thanks for the tips! Its really helpful
These tips are really useful I think. Thank you so much. Keep uploading video like this.
Great tips. As a beginner myself (1 year) I also try to be consistent about my routine and how long I practice. That's something really important, because if you practice 3h on monday and then 5 minutes on friday that won't cut it.
Thanks for the tips Rachelf! :)
Excellent tips, as always thanks for the inspiration!!🎸
Thank you!
I just watched the 4 year progress video. You got so good!! Also your video effects improved!
Great advice. Thanks for sharing.
You really help learn a lot thanks for being so positive😁👍
Thank you 😀
The sloth would look at me at say "dayum! I thought I was slow"
Omg same 😂😂😂 but everyone was slow in the beginning
Listen to the album version of Cornershop's 'Brimful Of Asha" then watch the much slower live performance. Take your time and HEAR the music!
😂, I think it would say that about everyone at one point or another
same 😂 guitar player for close to 2 years, and im still at the level of a new guitar player as i am still trying to get the scales right, play some chords, and learn 1 note at a time songs lmao im so slow its frustrating
Just like the 'fast' gunfighter he beat. :-)
I couldn't have said these better myself. Adding to that, it helps to learn some music theory regarding harmony and scales, especially for those who want to get into composing and songwriting. Amazing video as always!
Rachel - You’re an awesome human being. Thank you for sharing what you know. Very inspiring, I’m 61 and just learning how to play(wow!). You’re right, it is never too late. ✌️
thanks so much ! you're a great teacher :)
Rachel is one of my favorite and most inspirational online guitar instructors. Thanks for all the great advice. Also, I really love the look of that deep blue Ibanez guitar in this video. Super cool color. Love your smile. 😀🎸 Rock on!
Great Job on this! Some super key points. Pain shouldn't be ignored...ever!
These are great tips! I’ve started relearning guitar recently and started recording myself and posting progress videos here on UA-cam. It’s definitely nice to revisit those progress videos during the moments I feel like I’m not improving. I also created a similar video on my channel about how to deal with guitar rut. I suggest similar tips like taking a break and just playing something you know already. It’s all about balancing practice with play when learning!
Amazing! This is REALLY encouraging. Guitar learning feels like it's for masochists sometimes! I swear I need therapy sometimes lol. I'll never put it down though. Trying to fight buying a second guitar until I make huge progress but it's so hard! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you! It can definitely be hard at times, but so worth it!
Hi Rachelf
I love your videos. Your energy and your positive attitude is awesome. Your are an inspiration to young guitarists.
Have a Super Saturday
Jeff
my favourite tip is the last one. i love recording myself and posting them on my Instagram as a progress tracker, and it doesnt bother me that the majority of them make me cringe, because it is a nice reminder of how far ive come. ive been posting since day 2 of playing and although it hasnt even been a full year yet the progress i can see is so encouraging
I'm just starting out and those are very helpful tips.
Hi Rachel! Been watching your videos for a while now and I have my very first guitar coming to me next week! Thanks for the inspiration and tips :)
Woo that's so exciting! Hope you have a great time with it!
heyy how’s it going? :))
Good tips for beginners to advanced . We all have weak areas we need to work on. Great talk 👍
Thank you for sharing these tips! I can’t wait to start applying them when my electric guitar and amp arrive next week.
Great tips!! Thanks! You've done great love your videos.
Always love how u smile in all ur vids
Thanks Rachel there are some really useful tips in this video. I am a 60 year old guitar learner and sometimes get stuck practicing the same stuff I already know. It makes sense to try to play music you really like. I am so guilty of trying to play too fast, it’s hard to not try to play at the right speed, but doesn’t sound so good when you don’t have the skills. Thanks for being there you give us inspiration 👍
solid video, thanks!
Buying my guitar tomorrow! Thanks for the tips :)
Upon your tip, I started to be mindful of applying the minimal amount of pressure on the string and it eased up a lot of hard passages. Good one
I got a guitar yesterday! I'm so excited!!:D
Thanks for this video! Great tipps 🙂
Great bit of morning inspo!
Good tips.Keep it up!
Rachel I am in the first month of learning guitar and want to thank you for all the great information you share. Keep rippin!!
Thank you! Hope you have a great time with it :)
Just got my first guitar and found your channel. Nice guitar btw! And like the content in the vids.
Love your content and passion! You inspired me to upload my monthly e guitar progress! I would be a happy man if I would get half as good as you are after such a short period of time! Thanks for your amazing content:)
I didn't smile 12 minutes in total in my life and you did it in a one video. Great job!
This is great. Great advice, but most importantly, this is someone who still has the ideal enjoyment and passion for guitar that a day one student has. This enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for spreading the disease!
This video couldn't have come at a better time, thank you Rachel! :D
Glad to hear, hope you have a great time with the guitar! 🎸
Hey from Montreal, love checking in, Great tips
I love ur energy 🤘🏾
Great video Rach.
BOIII I came here from your progress video and I was NOT expecting your voice to be this deep, how cool
great video all point are important, for me the ear song and the warm up are the thing i gonna make everyday pratice,,thank you Rachelf, you are great.
Thanks to your tips I'm making alot or progress, your great!
Too true! Especially with the consistency because I personally don’t have as much time to practice as I did before. But I do make sure to do so atleast 15-30 min. I just came back from a lesson and my teacher gave me the solo of “symphony of destruction” to learn for a change :D!
I love these Tips
You have a super charming vibe, nice job! I’m doing some beginner lesson videos too and this one was helpful!
Thank you for all 10 Tips
Thank you so much for this video, I might be getting a guitar soon 😬😁
All beginners should watch this video😊. Great tips.
Im sooo ready to take guitar lessons from you!
Learn multiple songs at once! I always tried to learn Canon Rock since I started playing and I've been playing for a month. I initially thought it's best to focus on one song to get really good but learning multiple songs at once is actually more fun and lead to more improvement overall. I love you so much for the advice 😍🤘
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. VERY HELPFUL!- APRIL
i love your smile ever since.,,thank you for the good vibes
You inspired me to start playing nearly 3 years ago at the ripe old age of 46 😊 your great tips continue, thanks Rachel
That is so cool to hear! Hope you have had an awesome time so far! 😀
I Agreed With All Your Points!!! Rachelf🎸😉❤❤❤❤
I agree absolutely with a lot you say. I didn’t know anything about guitar but I loved the concept of making an object without a voice made of wood and strings and giving it the ability to sing! I learned how to play notes, and practiced scales, then practiced a lot and made tons of mistakes but I’m always having fun! I have met a lot of great guitar players in the shops trying out guitars and I must say they were all very nice to me if I had a question on how to play a certain way they always took some time to help me, they had no egos just great people helping me learn. I hope to do the same. I’m still developing on the acoustic but I hope to move onto the electric eventually. I began about a half a year ago and I can play some basic popular rhythm chords, some parts of lead solos etc. and to think I didn’t know anything before! The key is to have fun, practice, and keep learning. It’s not a race, it’s an amazing journey that has no end for me😊!
When you were discussing the speed when learning songs, I realized that is what I've been doing. I've been using Ultimate Guitar's pro tabs to learn songs (you follow along with the song with the tabs on the screen) and gradually speeding up each time I get comfortable with a certain part. Im at a point now with my playing where I can do all of the verse and chorus work for most songs, but when I get to solos I just have to slow down for those. A big example for that for me was Tornado of Souls by Megadeth. :) glad to see im not the only one doing that
Yeah learning multiple songs at once still helps me I just click shuffle on my music and if I like the song and the riff I write it down I currently have like 6 songs I want to learn and all of em in different difficulties I strongly suggest everyone to do this it’ll build you up plus it’s badass to know a good amount of riffs obviously a little later on you can learn the whole song
You...are a breath of fresh air! :)
Hello, Rachel! I'm started to learn electric guitar because of... You :))) It's hard but beautiful... It's amazing :)) Thank's for your video and good look on the future :) 🤘🤘🤘
Excellent! Thank you
I'm starting my guitar journey this week! I ordered a Epiphone SG cause I love the style and I've heard good things, I hope to be where you're at in 4 years lol
One thing that I did when I first started was to see what power chords were involved in a song, and what riffs had them. I would go for those riffs first, and then do the harder riffs after. It also helps that I started on easy classic metal songs, so that gave me a real good boost in playing. And here's another interesting thing: when it comes to harder song, I take a look at what the chorus parts are, and see what the riffs are like. If they have a lot of power chords, I do that first, because the chorus is usually very repetitive, and is much easier to get down. Trivium is a prime example of this. Matt Heafy recently did a play through of their newest song Catastrophist, and I was actually inspired by both the first riff and chorus to make a really cool riff of my own from that. As you go along in your journey, you never know where inspiration for a new riff will come from
Thanks for this 🖤I've been playing guitar for about a month now!
Awesome, hope you are having lots of fun with it!
Great advise Rachel! Thanks!
Thank you!
hey rachel! I really want to start playing guitar but i always thought that to play electric i should learn acoustic before, that’s what I’ve always been told, but then I saw your video ‘getting my first acoustic guitar’ soo i might just ask my mom for one. You really inspired me to start! ☺️
I love this video, Rachel, you are such an inspiration. I'm an 'older' person learning how to play (in my 50s).. thank you for your encouragement.
Thanks so much! Hope you are having lots of fun with it :)
I love your energy
