    Thank you for posting this, some artists are really closed and cagey about their processes even when I've asked for practical advice 'you've got to find out yourself'. I completely get that everyone needs to find a way that works for them...but having some paths and options to explore and choose from is a good start and you have been a star and I really really appreciate the videos that you post up. xxx

      Asking for advice doesn't mean that you do not make your own research about products or manufactures, sometimes you just need a little help narrowing down that path, but I do understand why some artists don't share their sources. So, thank you for the help Kat ,this actually narrowed down some printers research

    I know this video was last year but just in case anyone or OP sees this. You don't print in RGB, the document mode is in RGB. When you print your document Photoshop will convert it to CMYK as these are the inks the printer uses (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key [black]). So you should always convert your document mode to CMYK so you will see the colour difference and it should be closer to how it will look when it's printed (assuming your monitor is decent at replicating colour and is calibrated). If you don't want to switch colour mode you can just hit CTRL + Y on your keyboard and that displays a "soft proof" of the CYMK colours or a more accurate representation of what your artwork will look like! Hope that helps.

    I do zendoodle and pointillism. So details are extremely tiny. One of these days I’ll try sell art designs on skateboards, snowboards, wakeboards, ski’s, shirts you name it one of these days.
    I tend to draw dragons, werewolves, animals and other mythical monsters. Might just end up getting a printer. I’m from Alberta, Canada. 🇨🇦

    Love your channel and you are soo super adorable 😍 but I cried a bit when you said you print in Rgb 😩😭 The cmyk color range is for printing and is smaller than the rgb color range, you’ll see issues with greens, oranges, yellows and neon colors. I like to keep both copies of the Pantone color bridge books nearby when working so I can see how the colors vary when converting them, it’s a good practice to convert your color space to cmyk so you see the true color that will print on screen. As a recently former prepress operator all work that comes in to the print shop I just left is always converted to cmyk for printing offset and digital. Rgb uses red, green and blue lights to make your colors so the color range can produce millions of colors unlike cmyk. Love your artwork :) and heck yeah Epson is the best. 💕💕💕💕

    • @KatnippStudios
      @KatnippStudios  4 роки тому +2

      I do send of my work to be proffesionally printed using the CMYK colour garmut, but I found the perfect print settings for my monitor/printer when printing the art prints at my office, and for some reason the RBG colour space works the best, I have no idea why!

    • @pat4005
      @pat4005 4 роки тому +1

      Katnipp I love your beautiful work and thank you so much for sharing how you print from home process. I’s a great presentation! 😊🎨❤️.
      I did want to add, that I love my Epson priner also, and have always used them for my art too. I have a larger format one like yours, but a previous model (that can print up to 13” x 19” using the back paper feed.).Yea!
      BUT, I do have to tell you, that even if you choose the RGB color space to create your art and print it from your home printer, the printer itself can ONLY print in CMYK.
      CMYK represents the ink colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and black). RGB represents the monitor colors (Red, Green, Blue). There are millions of those as opposed to the CMYK gamut range, just as Donna spoke of in her excellent comment above. ❤️
      Now where things get weird, is that in your printer settings, you can usually choose to have either your imaging/art software control how the printer prints or you can let the printer’s software take control.
      There can be slight discrepancies when choosing one setting or the other, but the printer is STILL actually ONLY printing in CMYK because it has to. Those are the inks it is using and the process can be adjusted as you know, depending upon the paper you choose, etc.
      But still, the printing is happening in CMYK.

    Hi Catherine, I love what you do as an artist & illustrator, although I have a degree in digital media, design and production, I'm a photographer first and foremost for 41 years, I just wanted to explain something about colour or b& w photo printers and printing, when you take photos with a digital camera 📸 & you want to print to a photo printer, when printing your printing as Dots per inch, when your scanning anything that's flat it's PPI not DPI. It is confusing for some people, I had to learn the hard way, developing my own films, printing in the dark with horrible smelly chemicals 😜 thank goodness for digital, I love printing my photographs on a canon pro printer upto A3+ size, so much fun 🤗, I must look into the Skilkshare, maybe I could make a Bob or two, keep up the great work Catherine your a genuine inspiration to other artists.😍

    RGB (Red,Gree,Blue) is computer screen gamut. A digital printer prints in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). Sending the file over as CMYK aligns it with what the printer will do.

    WOW!!! I'm absolutely blown away by your talent, dedication and effort. Everything was amazing. Are you still using this printer in 2022? I want to start my printables business, but I have no idea which printer would be best. Any suggestions? I want to offer only 3 sizes, A3, A4 & a square size.
