I remember back in 2012/2013. Me and my roommate went to a pawn shop for some n64 goodies. Found the green one and asked how much the 64 consoles were. Cashier said 40 and I instantly told him buy it. Was a great day. Wish I could have kept the 64 though. Great finds Rick!
@@retrorick I got the green one for 20 dollars in 2003 with a green controller to. Its near mint. Someone also gave me a pile of snes games to around the same time i still have my original snes box from when i bought it.
I got my green N64 around 2 years ago in a pile with other "defective" stuff (most of it worked), it's in great condition. Sadly it came without the controller, and here the controller allone is ~50 Euros, because it was never sold separately. I hope to get it cheaper, though. Personally I love buying defective lots, I got so much nice stuff for cheap that way, mostly because the original owners didn't bother checking or couldn't figure out how it worked.

Gotta love that thrift store. them hot deals are still out there

Love seeing people able to pick up Funtastic systems at a reasonable price. I feel very fortunate that the N64 in my collection (also a Funtastic Green 🙂) is the one my parents got me as my very first console all the way back in 1999! The same is true with the GameCube in my collection, which was the first system I bought with my own money in 2003. Currently at 68% of the North American N64 library, and 48% of the North American Gamecube library. Keep hunting those deals, and may luck smile upon you!
Great tip on checking all DVD locations for games. My local Salvation Army has a separate section for kids movies. I check this section every single time I go in but usually there is nothing there. After hitting the store few times a week for months I found PS2 RPGs tucked away in this section
I've been collecting n64 out in the wild. Only yard sales and thrift shops. It's really slow going cuz I live in a small town but it is always fun to find any game.
It really neat to see the Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the OG Xbox in this video knowing I actually won the auction for it on Whatnot. Thanks Retro Rick….

Jungle Green Funtastic 😍 Great finds this week! Not that anyone asked, but I put my loose N64 carts in plastic sleeves from RetroProtection (non-paid advertisement 🤣) and put the N stickers on the sleeves.
Nice funtastic green 64. I would of got it too...I so want it. Still have my original and over 70 games for it I love that you chose the 64 for this series. I enjoyed season 1 but I'm enjoying every pick up for the $10game collection this season even more.
@@retrorick it does well enough lol still want more lotz more and only have good sports games not the common stuff. Blitz special edition NBA showtime Mario golf still need to get Mario tennis don't need a baseball game lol so yes it does well enough it's my go too system.

Hey Rick, have you considered getting a go pro? They make an adapter you can strap on to your chest, kinda like a body cam. It would free up your other hand and make browsing way easier. Just a thought. Love the channel.
Unfortunately the Goodwills up here in WI scan every game/dvd etc, basically anything with a barcode. If it is worth any money, they send it off to the depot to be sold via auction on their online marketplace. The chances of finding games at GoodWill in Wisconsin is EXTREMELY slim :(
That tv is solid. That'd be what I'd get for my gameroom. Sure it's not the highest quality, but the wood cabinet style console tvs that were more furniture? That's what I grew up playing games on.

Why is the green N64 so great to find, I have one CIB that I bought back in the day? The box is in like new condition. All my systems I have are CIB, like my Genesis, Sega CD, Super Nintendo, Atari Jaguar, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP & all boxes like new. Also, the PS1 is a model DTL-H1001H Programmers Tool, debugging grey version system!
Look out for jackie chan blu rays. I picked some up at a pawn shop 2 bucks a pieces were selling for $20+ on ebay. I just grabbed them because I'm a fan of Jackie's movies.

Just use 70% isopropyl alcohol on plastic, and 90%+ isopropyl on components. Be careful using a magic eraser, and also just brushing over the label how he is. That label clearly has some early moisture damage and you'll sometimes wipe the ink right off of the label when you apply a chemical and rub it. Also just letting your label get too wet is going to permanently damage it. Whenever putting liquid on the label, don't let that sit on it. It will soak in.

Hey Retro! Do you also clean the inside (pins) on the cartridge? I always test the cartridges and if they do not work the first time, I open them up and clean the pins to ensure it will work every time. Awesome video.... One last thing, I buy retro video games.... FOR MY SONNNNNNNNNNN!!!! xD

I avoid using a magic eraser unless it is a last resort. It has a tendency to wear down the texture on the plastic of cartridge games.

I never use magic erasers. The best way to take adhesive or sticker residue is goo gone and a paper towel and a qtip.

NGL, I get so satisfied taking off stickers. I started collecting more, I use goof off and a magic eraser. Takes off marker pretty easily too.

If you’re looking for a way to store the N 64 games, you could use the old vhs tape cabinets.
