That .257 WM is an absolute monster. Unless you reload just stick with the 25-06 or you will be paying $80+ for a box of ammo.
interlock is $60 a box
@@chasebeavers for 257 wm?
It depends on how much you shoot.
Also, don't forget how much money you can get back by selling your brass.
In my experience, the extra velocity works better on game.
Nothing wrong with the 25-06, though.
Word! And the most sexiest looking bullet.
Great point. If I won the power ball a 257 Weatherby would be on the top of my list. But, in the meanwhile I use my 25-06.
Love your content. I am a Combat Veteran Armorer OIF, you give great analysis! Your budget guns that you show are great and give the average citizen options who may consider firearms expensive because they are!! God bless brother
I appreciate you watching
@@WHOTEEWHO Been shooting the 2506 ELDX shoots the best but I find them too explosive on deer and antelope.
@@totallyjonesin Nice long range shtf rifle

Between the kids and myself we have 3 257 Wby Mags. They all favor the 115 Nosler Ballastic Tips. RL 26, Fed 215, and Norma Brass. Velocity will be 3,400+. Beauty is the 115 Partition shoots in the same place.
The best 100 grain bullet we shoot has been the Swift Scirocco II. The bullet holds up under the velocity of 3,575 FPS and .429 BC. It will also shoot a 120 Partition very well.
Been watching Heavy Metal. You’re pretty cool for loaning him stuff to make reviews…much respect.
Heavy Metal is the man
My favorite round. It is a kick in the pants and fun to shoot. I love everything .257. Thanks for bringing yours out to play.
I have had a set of 257 Wby Mag dies on my shelf for years. Never got around to that caliber. Definetly cooling that hot baby helps with barrel life. One heck of a long range shooter. Making me think... lol
I'm eagerly anticipating the detailed analysis and ammo test.
It's always nice to see the TTSX making small groups. Nice rifle!
Nice gun. I have a 340WBY MkV . Just a note... when reloading, keep the dies clean. Lube build up in the die will create lube dents at the shoulder.
Give Hornady One Shot spay lube a try. It will eliminate your issue. You are right, need to regularly clean your sizing dies. They also collect carbon and other debris.
Not so much lube build up in the die… too much lube on the case will cause shoulder dents. Air is being trapped between the case and the die causing those small shoulder dents.
Excellent results!!!
I watched all your shots, the recoil bounces left every time, not necessarily a bad thing, because it seemed to bounce the same every time.
There is another experiment you might find worthwhile, and it worked for me, particularly as recoil goes up. And that .257 is an example!
I set up so that the muzzle is slightly low, then grip the forend with my left hand, and plant my face to force the muzzle up into shooting position.
Wish I could say I figured this out on my own, but a couple of fellows who didn’t know how to bench shoot were outshooting me with my .338, and that’s what they were doing! Seems to help a lot.
I think you should do the 100 milk jug challenge that Backfire is putting on .
Would be fun
These videos are my favorite. Outside of your hunting videos, these are the ones I look forward to the most! Im sure they cost a fat penny, but the data one can get is priceless.
I am with you. Hunting, then these
Thank you :) I just love the .257 round. Fast flat and lethal. Reloading is going to be a must.
Retired usaf here. Great video brother. Thank you for giving us the msrp. I suck at looking stuff up. Love watching your videos.
Appreciate you watching!
73 GR RL 22 & 100 GR NOSLER BALLISTIC TIPS. LIGHTS OUT!
Love the 257 weatherby mag. I am interested in the 307. Thanks for the info
Great content, thank you Adam. My experience with the TSX & TTSX monolithic bullets has been outstanding. What they lack in BC rating is compensated by excellent precision and terminal performance. Hope to see you hunting Pronghorn in Wyoming with the 257 WM and TTSX!
Barns rule in the copper bullet market especially for the price range! Nosler makes an E-Tip that is good too but I think they are more money and the Barns are more accurate in my many many rifles I shout them in!
That Weatherby is such a sweet setup that it put a smile on my face also. 👌🏻👌🏻
It is really fantastic.
One good looking bullet slinger. It seemed to like almost everything that you fed it. Looking forward to more feedback on this one. Thanks!
Serious turrets on that scope. Nice shooting.
My current smile-maker is a Savage 110 in .243 with a vortex 4-16x42 scope. The Savage is an older one, pre accutrigger with wood stock. I know what you mean by making good tight target groups. Thanks for a great video!
.243 fine cartridge that never disappointed me at distance and accuracy.
I love my .243 in a savage 110...I feel I can do anything you can with a . 257. Just old school I guess
My dad's handme down 110 in 270 has treated me well over the years. Still putting meat in the freezer all these years later.
In the early 2000's I had Savage 110's in 7mm Rem Mag and .243 and they were both tack drivers. Unfortunately life happened and I had to get rid of them. Now I'm getting back into hunting and based on the other two I just picked up a 110 VSX HUNTER XP in .243 and I can't wait to get out and shoot it.
I've always liked the 700 footprint guns and I'm glad to see Weatherby making one. I think Adam Weatherby is doing the right things with their product lineup - they have some very interesting guns these days. As always, I appreciate your review.
I always love it when you pull out this rifle.
You still need to try the hammer load.
And don't forget, I have a ton of loads you could try.
Finally a Weatherby that shoots multiple factory loads sub MOA.........I will be looking to get one.
Beautiful rifle. I've been eyeing in 280 AI
Dude, me too. Wondering if the twist rate is fast enough though for heavy bullets.
Can't wait to see this one
One of my favorites
I had a 257 weatherby magnum till I burned the barrel out. Excellent caliber but it was definitely a reloader cartridge.
I'm a lifelong reloader, and I think every game animal I ever took was with Hornady Interlocks. Never had any animals lost, most didn't even take a step, so I never had any reason to switch. So glad they really perform in the .257.
When I discovered the SSTs I was so impressed I stocked up with enough that it lasted me for the last 20? Years and the end is still nowhere in sight. I too have never had a deer take one step. Love me some Hornady!
Hornady interlock has been my Go to for a long time for whitetail. Have always gotten good loads with them.
307 wyomings area code awesome they have made several honorable mentions to wyoming after moving here
You had me sold on this rifle as soon as I heard triggertech trigger @2:10 pause 😁
👍👍
All Weatherby’s come with TriggerTech Triggers.
Awesome content as always. Keep it up man
Thanks for watching!
Great vid. The target today was ripping bad
Very impressive results 🇺🇸👊 Who Tee Who
Shooting tiny groups seems to be the norm for WTW,nice driving, that 257 WM is a screamer👍
Also, when it comes to reloading, I would LOVE if you made a video on cost savings (if there are any) vs continually buying factory ammo. Especially for something like Weatherby Ammo which we all know to be expensive! So maybe that can be a good comparison. Price savings for factory ammo (both Weatherby Ammo and commonly found ammo) vs reloading! Just a thought!
Want to click a couple to the right. I no your shooting for groups but come on why not? Great show!
I'm really digging the Weatherby 307 so far. I'm thinking of getting a caliber in their Meateater edition. It has to be ordered and wait for it to get made but I think it would be worth the wait.
Model 307 named after Wyomings area code and made in Sheridan Wyoming! I need to get me one!
Very nice rig.
Speer 87 grain TNT flat out loves groundhogs. Give them a fly. VG accuracy
Great show and thanks again for the info and your show is the best 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁🙏
🙏🙏🙏
My Vanguard really likes the TTSX too. It slings 120gr Partitions rights around an inch as well.
You should look into an infrared thermometer, that way you can have more consistent barrel temps! Just an idea!
I absolutely love my Weatherby 257 in blaser R8 ultimate X and I also sued ttsx hundred grains and have also groups at 0.5
Very nice groups !
Hornady Interlocks have been getting it done for hunting deer quite a few years. May not be the best BC. Those TTSX are good long as the velocity is higher. I run an 80gr Ttsx in 243 @ 3400 fps. They do a pretty good job WTW.
With that Hot Rod 257 you gotta lot of speed baby!!! Should put the smackdown on a whitetail at some pretty good distance.
Nice looking set up!
Excellent job!
Keep'em coming!
Edit: my old Weatherby .25 liked 90 to 100 trainers. Anything over didn't stack.
Those ttsx bullets are good stuff. The best grouping factory load I've found for my .270 are the Barnes Vortx with the 130 grain ttsx on top.
Great show Lisa dude
Thanks for watching
I think I bought one of the last accugards in 300 win mag right as COVID started? Love the gun 👍 was just looking at a 257 Saturday , I'd love to have one myself! 😁👍🇺🇸
Highly recommend it! I have over 60 rifles. I use to make rifle barrels. The 257 Wby Mag and the 300 Wby Mag is what I find my self going out the door with when I go big game hunting. The 257 was Roy’s favorite. Extremely flat shoot cartridge with modest recoil. It is a great combination to own. Also, pairs with a 300 Win Mag very well. I also like the combination of a 300 Win Mag and a 25-06.
I have the new MeatEater 307 in 6.5RPM and will be taking it to New Zealand for Red stagg in May..cannot wait..great review
Stag
Like the barrel.🎉
Me too
Very nice!
Any day where your worst group is 1.10" is a pretty good day. Nice rifle.
Don't forget you can order ammo straight from weatherby.
And, hammer bullets are always in stock.
Id also try to find some 110 accubonds.
257 Weatherby is great 👍
I would like to see, maybe others also, a set of each load over your chrony without the can and you measure the decibel levels and with an IR thermometer record the barrel temperature after each shot; then repeat everything with the can installed and record the barrel and can surface temperature and decibel levels to compare.
My 257 Roy loves the TTSX and TSX. But, after 3 shots I have to grab another gun to shoot a while and let
It cool way down to replicate my first group. The all
Copper bullets are amazing at the speed those bullets travel. The power of the 257 vs its recoil is hard to beat. I think I’ll break mine out Saturday and shoot.
Great rifle..
That's a cool rifle. I just saw Ron Spomer's interview of the third generation family owner of Weatherby. It's a really cool company.
Very good people
The eldx should be one of the best for long range shooting. Nice 😊
Man, it looks like those are trying to make your scope kiss your eye brow! Thanks for some good data!
Thanks for watching
With that barrel profile and factory ammo that’s fantastic 3 different loads moa or better fantastic
I’ll get one of these
I do alot of reloading 20 sets of dies. I keep target's for reference. I go light & fast.
Sweet.
I bet if you put a light coat of spray adhesive on the backer board before you staple your targets down they won’t spider tear out like that.
Yep, love my 257! I got mine last year Vanguard. 3 deer down and they didn't take a step. Wanting a 240 wby next, why? Just because!😂
Good shooting rifle!
Sweet rifle!
Love it
Been looking at 257 and also 22 creedmoor debating on which one hated I missed the live but it's starting of busy time of year for work
I haven't tried the TTSX in my Vanguard but I have tried the TSX and they shot the best out of all the other factory ammo I've tried. However, I didn't like how that bullet did on the deer. It killed them but there was ZERO blood trail on 2 of the 3 deer I hit. The 3rd deer dropped in his tracks.
Good video would have liked chronograph information on that rifle good accuracy Adam ....
I had 257 wby but I sold it got a 7mm08 i love it
If you have a wood backstop with a intense caliber like that you probably getting wood splash back that could be why your getting jagged holes, you would be better to use HOMASOTE for your back stop, it works great and holds up in the weather
Not wood. Just cardboard
This caliber was ROY WEATHERBY'S favorite😮
If it flings "boo-lots" I'm smiling! Thanks for the content
Thanks for watching!
Sweet!
😍😍😍
Hornady Interlock is a good bullet.
Great video. A day at the range is always a pleasure, even when my rifle won't talk nicely to the ammo I'm trying.
Quick question, is the Range XP made in the US or Japan like the Vanguard? It's a beautiful rifle.
By the way, do you ship your merch to Australia? I've got to get a beanie for winter 😃
Thanks for your great work 👍
Made in Sheridan Wyoming
@@WHOTEEWHO Nice!!
Bipod works best for me every time.
The hardest working man in You Tube Bizz
🙏🙏🙏
Could have bought 100rds of 7mag range brass, a lb of powder, and a box of bullets for the cost of each of those boxes of ammo
Was hoping they would update the twist rates on this new line
Interlocks is about all I shoot from my hand loads
Try and find some 120 grain bullets Nosler makes some non-lead ones.
I like it
Haven’t shot mine yet (7mmPRC). Waiting for my range to open.
Awesome
Even with a can that rifle got some bark to it.
Speed and accuracy, that will take a critter out at a long ways away for sure
🦌🦌🦌
See that rifle over here in Australia is almost 3 grand
I need a 307
Got one in 7mag. With arken scope. Really really like the set up and it will shoot sub 1 inch eldx 162. Which other ammo would you try in it
Remington Core-Lokt Tipped I've had good luck with 7mag
They used the Remington platform🤔
If I remember correctly the 307 is a remington 700 footprint.
Yes
Ol boys hunter rifles go reasonable at auction
Besides the Barnes the other two looked like they were tumbling. Obviously that's not the case but but it have that look.
Just loose paper
Is your barrel free floating?
You spoke of the paper tearing on your targets... looks like your Boolets are tumbling.... Did you try it without the suppressor attached?
Not Tumbling. Paper just not tight to backer
I have
The luck with the Barnes ttsx
