Didn't come out where I live either, and I'm in South Florida. Now granted I understand theatres not wanting to take the risk, rap culture is niche, Pharrell is even more niche within that culture. He has nowhere near the ubiquity that Eminem had in the early 2000s
I actually didn't even know that... and don't understand why that is either. I just thought it was only America. I don't know why they would delay it like that if they were gunna go international
Recently watched it and I gotta say it's definitely underrated, hearing a Lego character swear on a hard hitting part of the movie is funny & sad at the same time.
It's a genuinely big swing especially from the Lego brand. It just sucks that it came out in the wake of the trademark lawsuit over The Neptunes, which changed my view on Pharrell. Chad Hugo deserves joint trademark ownership with Pharrell. But yeah, I just didn't feel comfortable seeing it in theatres.
Not only he cooked fire for the Despicable Me and other 3 mid movie's osts, but he's also just sweet enough to make a Lego Movie inspired documentary. Like all of UA-cam movie critics shouldn't be sleeping on this. Heck I'm already aware this was a thing before your friend recommend you. Like seriously Kendrick Lamar was featured, you cannot sleep on the goat being there, not to mention Pharell also help K. Dot's Pimp to Butterfly production.
As someone who watched Piece by Piece with my two best friends (we are all big Pharrell fans), I can tell everyone that this is the most unique movie I’ve ever seen. Wish it didn’t flop😢😢😢
I never saw any advertisements for the movies until it already came out and most of my friends were the same, I feel like most people I know didn't even know the movie even existed
I wanted to watch the movie for myself, but never gave myself the time to do so. But when it comes out on digital. I’m watchin it, the fact that Pharrell Williams made this out of love and creativity of legos. Instantly made me want to see it, underrated gem already in my book.
2:40 Honestly the two main reason I watched this movie 1. Because i absolutely love the Lego movies 2. I knew the soundtrack was gonna slap. Literally couldn’t stop reciting lyrics in the theater😭
I was worried hollywood was going to make a not boring documentary. Thankfully, this didn't do well in the box office so we can get more horrible documentaries!
I work at a theatre so when we had early screenings I jumped on the chance as a Pharrell fan. After it came out tho I asked people around and No one was interested. Got to keep the posters n stuff tho, I loved it
I didn't know it was a documentary until 5 seconds ago when I clicked on this video. I just thought it was a weird music video collab. I'd say they couldn't done more to market it
I’ll add to this. Pharrell is not proven to sell a product on his own. Every NERD and almost every solo P record has flopped. His branding is on point but outside of the music most people are not looking for skateboard P
I knew the moment I saw the trailer that I wasn't going to watch it. I don't really care about Pharrell Williams, but I also thought that the whole Lego thing was just strange creative decision. What does Pharrell Williams have to do with Lego? If you're gonna do a documentary using the Lego animation techniques, it should be about someone who has some kind of connection to Lego or even the history of the toy would be make sense.
I want to watch it so fucking bad but it's not in theaters here yet, only next FUCKING YEAR edit: by the way, about the soundtrack of a movie thing; I only watched Black Panther because I liked the soundtrack I didn't usually like Marvel movies
Sucks the movie didnt come to my theater, i was waiting for the release day to go watch it and found out that my theater wasn't showing it. I honestly dont know who to blame for the lack of showings in theaters, so imma blame the executives at Universal
My mom and brother watched it last week or the one before that and I asked my mom after listening a bit to the movie while getting a drink if it was a documentary and when she said yes I just just chose to go back in my room after grabbing a chocolate chip cookie and didn’t watch the movie at all 😅
Diddy party doesn't mean they were involved. Every major big celeb was at one of these parties. The bad stuff was happening at the smaller diddy parties or the after parties where diddy became the diddler.
Nah. I only watched “The Batman” because everyone said the sound design was amazing. IMO it was the right idea, wrong person. Kanye West should have got that movie ngl😂 A lego grandiose documentary is a Kanye thing
Like the comments said, yeah this film hasn’t been released worldwide yet. And it’s another thing that this kinda documentary so far has pulled mainly audiences of people 18-25 who grew up on his music, as well as 30+ year olds who were old enough to really experience their music outside at the time. Like I saw people point out how Kelis wasn’t in the film cos they’re aware of the feud her and Pharrell have . As unique as it is, this film didn’t come off as something too appealing to children, especially if they’re only familiar with Happy, Blurred Lines, Get Lucky etc. SIDENOTE: Also I completely disagree his 2000s output is dated. A lot of the Neptunes work is still very timeless (Chad Hugo being called Cole from Ninjago is crazy tho😭). His recent production has definitely declined over the years imo
I just don't think the audience for this exists for it on a large enough scale, most people who'd watch a lego film are unlikely to watch a documentry and vise versa. Sure most people know a few of his songs but do they actually care enough to watch a documentary about him or even know he's the one who made them? Young people in particular are unlikely to know or care which is a bit of problem when that's who's most likely to be interested in Lego movies. Not saying it's bad or shouldn't have been made but just that this result was inevitable and it was never going to go gangbusters
i was really hyped af about this movie but when the realize date come i got rrrreaaaaalllllyyyyyyyyyy dissapointed because da shit didnt drop in my country
I haven’t watched the movie yet but if you’re gonna do a documentary on yourself, your gonna have to reflect on what made you successful and acknowledge how gifted you are, so it might seem egotistical but if I was in his place, I might even glaze myself a bit🤔🤷♂️
@@SX1995able I understand what you mean, there’s a ton of documentaries like that🤔 But it’s nice to hear the artist point of view even if they rub it in a little, Besides we haven’t seen the movie yet! And from the advertisements they even include other people’s point of view!😋

So true
why would they do that??
They only have two showings a day where I stay. And I think it plays at select theaters.

Used a special site for it and it was entirely worth it. But this is something you'd probably have to be into music to really want to watch it
