This is literally one of my favorite Ricki builds of all time. I'd say, redo the interior and update the motor, but keep the body the same and just clean up the bay and it'd be nasty. Keep it the way it is, is just as good

Love the 280zx hood vent. My favorite 510 story I've ever heard was from this big hispanic dude I met. He has a gorgeous 510 and what happened was he had just moved to Idaho Falls, ID, and saw an old guy getting out of a 510 and was like, "hey this is an awesome car," and the old guy was like, "yeah, don't steal it." Fast forward and he bought the exact car at the guy's estate sale 😂😂😂 hard to be racist when you're dead!

I'd love to see this thing in the shop and worked on. Repainted Beige with black wide fenders, front scoop and rear trunk lip. Black wheels. Rear window venetian. Keep the interior looking stock but add a roll cage
Repaint in the matte grey/black, and full interior redo with working gauges and maybe mount up those MSDs a bit more securely is all I'd do!

I agree with a lot of the comments in this video. I would spec out the inside like OEM ++ and get it updated Ricky style, clean up the engine bay, add heat and a/c fix the leaks in the trunk and throw a nice system in there. Enjoy the car just for what it is Ricky Style Passion Project

Ricky, that survivor deserves a full Japanese street racer restoration, both inside and out. It's time to revive the original green color that's struggling to get out through, maybe a egg shell green . Its history is significant, but having survived until 2024, it certainly needs some love. I had a banana yellow 72 510. My ex hit a telephone pole sideways, drifting it a month after we finished getting it running. No one hurt except the car.
There was a saying by a race track owner in Añasco PR: “La mejor manera de arreglar un Toyota…” (The best way to fix a Toyota). It also applied to Datsuns. In PR we would have any car swapped with a rotary and make them fun. Drove a Mazda GLC swapped with one. Most common were the Toyota Starlet. Yes, definitely enjoyed the video!

That is sik. In Australia, we didn't get the 2 door 510. We had a 4 door called the Datsun 1600. And they are worth big money here. ✌️

makit green again, but keep rust scratches and dents. Overhaul on the underside and meintenence. Simple fixes, just repaint and mechanical overhaul.
Please, your content is given me motivation to go and learn how to be a car mechanic.

In South Africa we had the Datsun 1400 pick-up, which became the Nissan 1400 and then later just the Nissan Champ. I think Ricky would have had a fun time with that.

Had a 78 toyota carina ta14. Loved that car, looks similar to this but with a fastback bodystyle. That would be a fun 12a/13b swap 😅 but that one was one owner car with 78k km/49k miles. With all papers. But if I can find a different one in not that good of shape i would do it 💪😁

For the holes in the back, Ricky should use some round body push clips with some rubber o-rings to seal it for cheap so he can wash the car lol
i love it t he way it is. Only thing i think you should do to it, is give the interior the love it deserves. Just OEM i think otherwise its an amazing vehicle.

Bro hook up the interior of it so when you open the door people are like damn!!!!! Leave the outside like it is y just make sure all is in great shape bro. You just mentioned everyone knows you by the car and you have history when you look at it.
Full overhaul interior, fix the gauges, carplay unit, suede, new backseat, nice speakers, nice carpet and weather mats. Panel up the trunk and make under the hood look nice, don’t touch the exterior. Too much charm and history. But deck out all your touch points!
if you ever do paint it and do bodywork I think the only right option is restore to the original green and make it look MINTY
