Aoshima also made Mini-Z radio control KITT and KARR in 1:28 scale which work better with this kit (I've got the truck and both cars). The truck is disappointing, the two cars are a bit better and even have working scanner lights. I agree with you, better to get a 1:24 or 1:25 GMC kit and morph it into the FLAGG truck.
The model's wheels aren't accurate either not to mention the Knight Rider Historians have the real trailer along with one of the 2 GMC General's used as the Flag Mobile Unit on the show and they have been restoring it back to it's appearance from the show. The GMC truck you as you call it is called the GMC General the 2 from the show were a 1980 model & a 1984 model.
Yeah this kit was disappointing for sure. The wheels are wrong, the Tires are wrong, the pin striping is wrong (Missing a lot), the make is totally wrong (FLAGG used a GMC General 77/78). The trailer and Sleeper unit are wrong (Leave off for Season 1 truck), the scale is outta synch which explains a lot of why they used their Mack truck model for the base. For this kit I would keep the stickers/Decals and use a 1/24 GM General kit and trailer and do some scratch building. The cars are great in Aoshima's Knight rider series (Best on the Market actually) but they really screwed the pooch with this trailer kit. Great video!
Actually the GMC Generals that were used on the show were a 1980 model for seasons 1 & 2 and a 1984 model for seasons 3 & 4 the trailer itself was a 1978 Dorsey trailer. Fun fact the channel Knight Rider Historians own the 1984 General from the show along with the actual trailer they have been restoring them as we speak.
