    Thank you for writing "the valve and pressure regulator is almost never at fault". After further research, I replaced the igniter for $18 instead of buying a part that I did not need for $90-$129.

    I have a GE range and the pressure valve is slightly different than this one here. I detected a slight leak from the brass fitting that joins the two pieces of the manifold and I was able to unscrew the fitting, apply thread tape and sealant, and reinstall it and it fixed the leak. I saved myself $80 and shipping by doing this, so just thought I’d pass this along.

    Great video, great tips. I would have hoped the repairman would have soaped the connections, because someone might get a crossed thread.

    Do you have a video about a GE stove conversion from natural gas to propane?

  • @anthonymartin2412
    @anthonymartin2412 Рік тому

    If Propane use the OEM orifice not the one on the replacement valve. count the turns removing the old one install with same turns.

    Your video is missing a very important step. You should mention that adjustment is necessary if you are installing this part on a LP stove. I'm sure you don't want people to hurt themselves by following these instructions simply because you forgot to tell them that there is a big difference between the two. It would also be nice to show how the adjustments are done.

    Had a power surge in the house, and the lower oven in the gas oven stopped working.
    The igniter cords were visibly damaged by the power surge, so replaced the igniter.
    Now the oven does light and heat up, but the flame coming from the bake burner tube is way too big. It is blue, not orange.
    It’s especially wide at the end of the bake burner tube, near the center front of the oven.
    I made the air shutter smaller on the bottom gas burner, and this didn’t solve it.
    Do I maybe need to replace the gas regulator/safety valve? Oven is only a year old.

      My GE Adora 5.0 Gas Range w/convection is exhibiting yellow flames on all burners? An Angie's List repairman was out and thought it was likely the regulator; since it seemed fine when he inspected? I was not sure what to think, apologized for wasting his time, paid a small fee and decided to see how it went. Still an issue, been researching online and considering having my husband deal with. Your site gives me pause, a GE serviceman is now scheduled and I somehow doubt it is indeed a regulator.

    What is the purpose of the "cap" at the tip of the regulator? I'm looking at the regulator on my broken stove and it looks "melted." Wondering if the regulator is bad before I start with replacing the igniter and maybe additional parts.

    • @justin2024atlas
      @justin2024atlas 2 роки тому +3

      Behind that plastic cap is a small metal piece you would reverse if you were using propane instead of natural gas.

    Would this pressure regulator affect the top burners (causing yellow flame) or does it only affect oven ? I have cleaned orifice no help , don't see any obstruction around burners .

    Have a gas leak inside of my oven, though it is small as it is enough to smell when walking by the stove. I have detected that it is coming from inside of the oven tube, I could only assume that the regulator is not shutting completely or is bad does anybody else have any information that would help me thank you very much

      if the oven does heat up(usually to 100 and somthing degrees) but does not go any hotter, then its a regulator, if it doesnt get hot at all, then it is the igniter

    Have a Hotpoint Model RGB530DEP1WW but we're not getting the Oven to function. The Stove was converted from Natural Gas to Propane. The 4 Top Burners works fine, but the Oven is not receiving any Gas. Note, we are not using the electricity,, we're using it manually. Is it a situation where the Stove can only work once connected to the Gas Line/?

      Oven or broiler gas valve will not open without 110V on ranges with pilot-less ignition (oven/broiler using ignitors). On Some new ranges even the cooktop will disallow flow of gas with no electricity as a power outage and child (or drunk or stoned adult) "safety factor".

      I think that's much more advanced, we'd need a separate initial range installation video for that.
      There's an unopened bag of brass orifi screwed to the rear panel of my range, down near the regulator inlet, I guess for what you're asking ab idk

    No matter how often I try to post my question, I cannot get an answer. I have a GE XL range that came with the home I bought. I've had no oven for almost 6 months because I have pulled the plug due to the broiler turning on anytime it feels like it! I can't find a solution so I am asking you if you might know what is going on and should I buy a new stove? There is no owners manual and this has nothing fancy at all. Just knobs, simple stovetop, oven with a light that works. I am desperate for help because I really need the stove and I have been settling for electric egg cooker, crock pots, tiny toaster oven and I really have to do something - either find someone 65 miles away to fix it or replace it entirely unless it's something I can do myself. Also, it's on propane and in a manufactured home.
