Thanks for this Clyde. The burners on my stove are so high I thought I would have to replace the stove. You are a lifesaver.
Thx! Glad to help!
Thank you so much!! I can’t believe how easy this was to do - took me 5 minutes after watching for 2 minutes - you can’t imagine how long I had been needing to do this to my burners! I couldn’t find any info about adjusting flame height in the new stove manual, read it start to finish. There are no other videos like this out there! Most info is about flames that are too low, not too high. Or I found worthless articles that described opening the burner plate and doing some stuff I couldn’t follow, with no images. I am thrilled to know how to do this now and I think you are a genius!! Using the knob tubes-so brilliant! This simple trick will change my kitchen life! I cannot thank you enough for posting this.
You are welcome! Glad it Helped!
@@basicworks1 Is this just for Whirlpool made ranges ? Just bought a new Amana gas range AGR6603 and it's a revised model.
I know Amana is made by Whirlpool as Amana is just a name now that Whirlpool owns when they bought Maytag.
The older version had excellent simmering and now the new burner heads are removable and larger with more BTU output.
I bought the range thinking it had the old style burners because I actually couldn't find a live model of it except in one appliance store.
I bought it for consumer reports rating that it simmered excellent but I believe that was with the older fixed heads sealed to the top.
I care more about a lower flame for simmering than higher heat output.
I currently have in my new home a Whirlpool made Kenmore ultra bake gas range that's an older model, but looks very similar to the Amana I bought to eventually replace it.
I totally agree. I just need to check if this works on my in law's gas stove.
@@basicworks1 Thanks pal for sharing this.
Thank you Sir, our new propane stove Fridgedare flames have been too high since delivery. I even called appliance store and was told that is how they make them now. After watching your video my wife is a little happier with me ! Thanks again .
Glad I could help!
A little happy lol I love it
Thank you! This was so easy!
I was going to call my propane company to adjust these burners on my new Whirlpool stove. They wanted $150 to do this, it took me 5 minutes. I was using doubled up heat defusers to simmer stuff and even then it was too hot. Bless you!
Glad I could help!
I want to add my appreciation along with all the other comments. Thank you, thank you for the excellent demo to reduce btu output. GENIUS.
You're very welcome!
perfect!! took me 2 minutes once I saw your video.. EASY Thank You!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you! I was so disappointed in my new Whirlpool gas range the low flame was way too high to properly simmer or to just keep anything warm! I used to love cooking with gas because of the almost infinite variability of the flame. Something that my Whirlpool looked like it lacked. Made these adjustments last night in literally 5 minutes to all my burners. Can't wait to take it for a test drive!!!!!
Thanks for sharing!
It's 2023 and I'm facing the same issue, new Whirlpool has no simmer setting, not even the smaller burners. I'll be trying this adjustment right away. I'm looking forward to not burning food again.
Most definitely a million thank you's!!!! After 3 years of a worthless stove after watching this video it's perfect now!! Thank you so much!!!
Great to hear!
Thank you! It just fixed my new gas range. My wife is so happy. I told her I got the fix from you. Much thanks sir
Glad to help!
Fantastic!!! I just did this on my brand new Jenn Aire. Worked like a charm. The flame was way too high for a simmer setting on the large burners. The small burners didn't adjust as well - one of them was already at the lowest setting, but they are OK.
We tried talking to the dealer and they told us this couldn't be adjusted. THANK YOU!!!
Wonderful!
fantastic, i just had this problem on my brand spankin’ new stove/oven and will do this! i do recall an installer doing this years ago for me, upon delivery, but today, it was like a hit and run, they delivered, turned it on for me and left, lol.
Thx! Glad it helped!
Hi Clyde
Rachel here again, you were right in your tutorial. Landed up I just needed to buy a set of small enough screw driver.
Thanks for steering me in the right direction
Nice, Glad this helped.
Thank you so much!! I have been HATING my new whirlpool. It burns everything! There is no “low” or “simmer” heat. Grrr. Now, thanks to you, I can fix it!
Glad it helped!
Thank you. You really saved me. I always wondered how to do this adjustment and never knew. Thanks a million🙏🙏
Happy to help!
Wow! You made this look so easy. Our burner got messed up when we had a maid service come in for the first time. I just needed some help and they did a fantastic job. The only problem is that I haven’t been able to use that burner since then. I’m so thankful for your video. I will have to go buy a long skinny flathead because not everyone has the right shape and size to get the job done, but I’m confident I will be able to do it.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for this great video. I wish the Universe return your favor multiple times with health and wealth.
Thank You! Glad it Helped.
Thanks for making this video! Fixed my problem.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏
Cool video. I'm learning some hot side at my job so this gave me some good basic insight.
Great to hear!
Thank you thank you thank you! I couldnt keep pressure canner on low enough to can. Was setting my canner more than halfway off burner. not good. You solved my problem and it was so easy! THANK YOU!
Glad it helped!
Very informative and to the point. Thank You.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this helpful video!
Thank You Very Much!!! & You're welcome!
Would an excess flame cause a big 'puff' of flame when I turn the burner off? It only occurs on one burner on my Thermador 5 burner cooktop. When I turn it off, there's like a huge sound and a big flame. Thanks for the great video.
Great video. Have to try this on our new stove!
You should!
Thanks for the clear info!
Glad it was helpful!
Easy-peasy! Thanks!
Very Nice! Glad this can Help!
Oh my, Thank you Thank you. I did this myself and it worked.
Excellent!
Very well done, Sir! Thanks for the share!😎
Thanks!! You bet!
Thank you so much!! Great great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful!
Very clear and helpful.
Glad to hear that!
Thanks so much, I'm so gonna try this. My stove even when set to lowest, its still boiling vigorously!
May I ask how can I remove a stuck burner head?
Inversely my flames were not strong enough to properly sear steak so I was looking for a way to get stronger BTU. Will try this next time. Thank you so much.
Good luck!
Awesome!! Thank you!!🙏🏼
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you
You're welcome!
Hi, Thank you for showing me how to turn down the burner. How can I turn down the oven?
Glad I found your channel. How do you adjust fuel ratios on gas ranges for elevation? Is this a jet change or an air inlet adjustment? I have yellow flames.
Thank you for the good information...
Glad it was helpful!
You saved Christmas! Now I can cook without burning everything.
Thank you!!!🎉
You're welcome!!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks!
Thx! Much appreciated!
Thank You Sir!
Most welcome!
Very helpful clyde
Glad it helped!
I have one of those oval centre burners on my new range. I was adjusting the flame heights, but on that one, I can't adjust it higher no matter which way I turn the screw. When I bring it down to low, the flame just goes out. It's there a way to increase the flame?
Thank you that helped me
Glad it helped
THANK YOU
You Are Welcome!
Nice! How about telling us how to adjust a gas oven?
Odd? Our oblong center burner has never gotten high/hot enough to effectively cook on the cast iron griddle plate. Attempting this adjustment i find that turning the screw as far as it can go from midpoint has no further increase in flame height? On High the oblong flame barely crests the burner cap, maybe a bad valve - any thoughts?
Just curious if you have another tip? I did this adjustment and it was as low as it could go. I know I did it correctly as I could raise the flame, just not lower it. at it's lowest point the flame is well above the plate (at least 1/2 to 1")
Just moved in to a new apartment with a Whirlpool gas stove and having this issue. Low is more like medium to me. I'm going to give this a try!
Do It !
@@basicworks1 I just tried but think I need a skinnier and longer screw driver. I don't think I was able to reach the screw to turn it. Flame still a little too high for my liking on low.
Wanted to let you know I finally found a screwdriver to reach the screw and it worked! Thanks so much! My pots and pans thank you! No more scorched oatmeal!
I Must say You are Persistent! Good Job! & Glad it Worked!
Great. I folder another channel my hole in the knob holder was too long...i couldn't see a screw. You explain to just fiddle around. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Clyde
Your video was very helpful, but my stove is a GE and does not have the have the inner adjusting screw like in video.
What I do have is one (Phillips) on the right .
I tried turning but it doesn't adjust the flame to lower like I need it to be.any input would help. Thank you
Hi Rachel, I would google that make & Model...download PDF of owner manual. It should say how this adjustment works and where it is at.
Thank you for sharing🤗🤗🤗
You are so welcome
I understand exactly what you're saying.. but when I take the knob off after it had been turned to low there is no set screw such as I see on your video.. there is a shaft but when you hold it with the pliers and put a very tiny screwdriver in there and turn it to the right the flame only gets higher.. as I said there is no screw as it shows in your video.. can you help me? Thanks in advance
Thank you so much for this! Our new Zline burners burn incredibly too hot- can you please advise a SIZE / make of a screwdriver? Have purchased two and they’re still too large for the adjustment hole.. thanks!
Hi, I have a link in the description for a screwdriver set that should work fine. A 1.5 or 2 mm flathead should work.
my burner only has a knob with no hole to insert a screwdrived... it has a couple of screws in the back of the hole tho... what should i do?
This is a question not pertaining to the gas flame but something else. I recently bought a Samsung stove and I can not find how to turn on light for the panel, or is there no light to come on. It is so dark even during the day. I have to turn microwave light on to see the functions.
thanks bro
Any time
Hi Clyde, any idea where the flame adjustment screw for the center burner of the oblong burner on a GE Profile p2s930selss?
The oblong burner screw is behind the control knob, but the center one is no where to be found. It also does not appear to be in the stem of the control knob.
I have the same problem, on a GE Profile PGS930. No screw in the knob shaft. And no help from GE on how to adjust it. Personally, I wish I'd bought a different product.
@@jp410 and Clyde. It was in fact in the center shaft. The problem was that I was using a small screwdriver whose blade was just wide enough to not enter a smaller internal shaft within the main one. Once I used the proper driver, BINGO! Good luck JP!
nice nice thanks works for me
Good to hear
What if my my flame does not get bigger after about medium setting?
Thanks for sharing this! Can you tell me what size screwdriver fits into that valve stem to adjust flame- can’t seem to find one :((
Thx! I have a set linked in the description. I'm sure it was a 2.0mm slotted blade screwdriver. - amzn.to/3BRJpFq
Clyde, this worked easily on my Samsung slide in
Great...Glad to hear it !
i'm struggling to find a flathead screw driver with a skinny enough shank to get into the shaft of the burner knob. i tried an 1/8th of an inch shank... the ACE hardware didn't have anything smaller. also tried a little eyeglass screwdriver but the head was too small to get any purchase on the screw inside. any advice?
amzn.to/3BRJpFq
I found this set works Great...For many jobs !!!
@@basicworks1 thank you for the recommendation!! much appreciated
That will also mess up the high flame correct?
What size screwdriver are you using to fit into the small space? Thank you so much!
i tried an 1/8th of an inch but the head was too wide. i might try and see if i can get an even smaller one, but hardware stores don't seem to carry anything skinnier. haven't had success yet!
Very informative, I suspected that small screw behind the knob had to do with flame intensity. In my situation the back burners light with the igniters, the front ones click but don't light unless I apply a match. Any ideas on what is the issue? Thank you!
Can you see a spark..on the front burners..?
@@basicworks1 I took the cooktop completely apart, cleaned, tested and reassembled everything and all igniters function. The constant clicking seems to have stopped for now on the affected igniter. The gas flow appears to be correct at least to the back burners as the back burners fire up as they should but the front burners don't and must be started with a match even though the igniters are clicking. The spark going to each of the igniters is a blue color and the igniter module seems to be doing it's job. Do you think the gas flow to the front burners need adjusting for increased flow so the igniter can catch it? I noticed there's a small screw under the control knob, would that be for the gas flow control? Could the issue be with the pressure regulator even though I didn't touch it? Thank you for your input on this!

Yes, the gas flow control screw should be behind the control knob used for setting the flame. I would try adjusting this like shown in the video. If there is only one regulator for all 4 burners I wouldn't adjust it.
Good video. Just did this to mine as the simmer setting was way too high! How have i put up with it for 16 years?? I didn't know it was adjustable. Cheers.
Awesome! Thank you!
So one of my burners doesn't work when I turn it on I can't smell gas I cleaned cleaned grease and everything but no use. Any suggestions?
I see two main pieces that I would suspect. The nozzle at the top of stove could be blocked, or the control valve that you turn the gas on with could be shot. I would clean the nozzle with a small wire first. After that the control valve may need replaced. You may want a repair man at that point. Follow all safety precautions.
Interesting..I've noticed camp stove are like that..thanks
Very cool!
What is the most efficient setting for the flame? High? Low? Tip of flame just touching pot? Thanks
Efficient depends on what u are cooking..to boil water keep the flame 3/4 way out on bottom of the pot...but for a low setting like in the video..to not burn food, I like the flame just over the top of the burner. Good Question, I like it!
@@basicworks1 Thanks.
what i can do if the flame is too low
Thank you for this tutorial, now I’m not speed running when I’m making eggs
Lol...Glad I Could Help!
So what happens if you move the outer shaft or don’t hold it with pliers? Asking for myself.
If you move the outer shaft it is the same as with the knob on it. It will adjust the flame up or down. You have to hold the shaft as a constant so when you turn the inside screw it adjusts the flame without turning the knob. Then when you turn the knob the flame adjustment is built in and will raise or lower what flame the knob provides.
What if there is no inner adjusting screw?
I have white flames with my propane stove an furnace, does that mean the propane company has regulators to high
White tip flame with blue flame
Would these steps work on a Southbend unit? Thank you
It should if you remove the knob and see the adjusting screw.
@@basicworks1 Thank you!
Can this be with another brand stove? thanks
I believe so
What would you be cooking that the flame is so low?
Hi Addison, Funny you should ask, with the flame as high as it was before I turned it down, I could not get it low enough to make a good omelet. It was so high that the outside would be burning and inside still raw.
Rice perhaps?
Is the technique same on every kind of gas stove?
I wouldn't say every one. But a quick check, if you pull the knob off and see the adj screw, You should be good to go!
👍👍👍👍👍
What screwdriver did you use
Link in the description to the ones I use.
by doing that did you lower the high range?
Hi Joseph, This is the adjustment for the low flame (low flame should be @ 1/4 " above burner plate). Should not effect the high flame.
The high flame should be correct with this adjustment set right.
During your intro I noticed that there is an over-the-range microwave/vent. It is installed so low that I don't think you could place a standard 10-12 qt. stock pot under it. Bad installation IMHO.
You are the best! Thank you!!!! I wish I looked you up a very long time ago!!! My husband is a very un-handy man and I am not much better. I have threatened to have an affair with a man that is handy. Are you married?
LMAO! Yes I am......
Where do you live
Your revolution is over. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me? The bums will always lose.
