Sweet. All the best on Justin’s new adventures and definitely post when you start the dissection videos. So many new technologies coming out. The Olympus, CRBN, etc. Excited to see what they are doing. Here is the Electrum statement: “New Features: Whole Cell HoneyComb Condensed Core” which I thought they explained as no cut cells. Maybe they developed a way to zig-zag cut along the edges and then fill in with foam? By
Yep … I was surprised adding edge tape or electrical tape added weight to a paddle. Electrical tape less so, but still adds weight. I went from entire paddle head to just the tip (top 3rd). Now I just add a couple of 2-3” strips of electrical tape to top corners, which is the only place I make contact with court. I am also still happy at 2 month mark with Apollo taping 3g precut strips only with 2” electrical tape without removing the backing. I have the strips at 4,8 and 12 … and they haven’t budged. I could just transfer them to next paddle easily. Oops … sorry Braydon … didn’t think about “product placement”.
Reload has a lifetime warranty on core crush. This is from their website: "Delamination/disbonding of the paddle base due to a crushed core is also a manufacturing defect but is a special case and is covered for the lifetime of the paddle."
Heyyy Thanks about my question on Pikkl. I got one, and actually really like it. Probably has a bit more power than my current just broken in Kinetic, and similar pop. Spin is near 2300, big sweet spot, but 120 swing weight and 8.2 oz. It does have a cheaper look and feel in my opinion, but plays great. Sorry they are not responsive to your contact, because you have amazing reviews and podcast, I really enjoy your channel 🤜🤛
I think different paddles fit different people. What I like, someone else might not. If you weren't crazy about a paddle, you could always suggest who the paddle might be good for. I like learning about all the paddle technology. Keep it up, you guys are doing a great job! Question: Have you tried the Proton 3 paddle? If so, how would you tungsten the paddle? I have one and can't find a setup I like. Hence, I always play a game and go back to my ALW 12.7 paddle. Thanks!
Couldn’t agree more! It’s all personal preference and I try to make sure I give my honest take on the paddle and what its strengths/weaknesses are so people can make an educated decision! Thanks for the feedback dude! Also I have not got the proton series 3 paddle unfortunately
@@PickleballPursuit I may be the only dudette on here. Lol 😆 If you do get the chance to hit the Proton 3- the sound of mine makes a pinging noise when it strikes the ball. Very different sound.
Have you tried the gearbox overwrap? I’ve found it to be long lasting and maintains just the right amount of tack. Been using the brand for about three years
Great Video. Looking forward to what Justin comes out with next. In regards to the commissions, I agree with what others have touched on like PBEffect and DinkSmash, the commissions can and should be whatever the company feels the reviewers is worth in that instance. What should be even across the board is the discount codes. ALL discount percentages or amounts from the codes unique to each reviewer, affiliate, etc ("ETC") should be the same. That allows the consumer to support the reviewer/affiliate they like and trust most, instead of to the person who just happens to give out the promo code with the biggest discount. Regardless, great podcast. Did not feel like you guys just rehashed a convo you had earlier. Felt fresh. Eagerly awaiting the next podcast, review, and whatever Justin will send down the NERD track!!!
I will need to revisit the edge tape video. I did know it added swing weight but thought it was fairly neglegable and I plan to wrap an already head heavy paddle. I'm excited for the upcoming nerd journey with pickleball ect.!
Is resin used with the fiberglass or is it epoxy. Fiberglass is "supple" in cloth form. Is it blended in the weave with carbon fiber? Curious if the RELOAD face sheet adhesive will work on other than their paddle? I've put the PIKKL sheet on my old GEARBOX G7 that is smooth as glass. Works great. Good job DIADEM!!! Edge tape nerd here, run edgeless paddles mostly. Justin looking forward to what your'e going to bring to us nerds. Like my MARK KINETIC V-1. Great question about core modifications. Unless you patent like Gearbox does, cutting open a paddle would be to only way to. "Talk Nerdy to Me" Classic.
I wouldn’t expect this to be a paddle that would see a negative effect on spin by ball dust. So I don’t think you’ll see as much ball dust or end up needed to clean it
@pickleballpursuit I would love for you to somehow add a category to your reviews. Surface longevity. I know that can be a little difficult but even if you had it categorized as short, medium and long. I love my J2K but after only 4 month of play the face has smoothed out and spin has dropped off. Had I known or there been a category for surface life that showed short, I would have gone a different direction. I am sure a lot of people are in my position and don’t want to be buying a new paddle every 3-4 months due to surface longevity and having this info would be helpful. Hope this makes sense.🤷♂️ Happy to expand or clarify if needed. In a nutshell, I just want to know if I buy a paddle, how will the surface and spin hold up over time.
Unfortunately 3-4 months is on the high end of grit durability. If you bought a Selkirk paddle with paint grit it would wear down in less than 2 months, some times within a couple of weeks of heavy play. The only solution I can offer is purchasing a reload paddle that you can replace the grit whenever you want. I do have a promo code (Pursuit) but have not posted a review of it. I will soon. It’s a perfectly capable paddle and will alleviate the annoyance of grit wearing out. The only caveat is they have 1 shape (elongated aero curve).
Thanks. Maybe more companies will come out with replaceable face tech. 🤷♂️ I am a hybrid shape fan and love all other aspects of the J2K. It’s not equitable for the average rec player to be replacing a paddle every few months.
Got the Hush for $125 during the Labor Day sale and they stacked my military discount and I had a $10 reward also. Figured I should jump on it and I’m glad I did bc the sale ended yesterday and it’s back to full price
@PickleballPursuit Congratulations Justin! 🍾🎊🎈 Please please do a review on the newly launched paddle Hitman by Dymon. This paddle sounds so promising & too good to be true - & if I’m not mistaken, the only one in the market right now with the combination of both Kevlar surface & core 😍 ! I already got their recently released Mayhem paddle & having so much fun playing with it ! 💕
So, he's a fan of HPC, and you are too, so you're totally biased towards one side. That's not cool as a reviewer! I do think @PickleballStudio is the best!
Correct. USAP Quiet approval is a a different and unique approval process. The Hush is not approved for general tournament play. It's only USAP approval is the quiet approval.
Rafa always leads with the fact that he is a Harvard educated engineer. I guess that doesn’t help him understand the impact of edge tape on swingweight…
Is that Spin DNA Kevlar paddle thermoformed? I asked the ebay seller whether this paddle is thermoformed and he didn't even understand the question... lol

Justin, I own the Apollo. Much offence taken. I haven't played with the other paddles so it's not really fair of me to take offence, but this is the internet and therefor logic and reasoning are thrown out the window. U R dead to me.

Unfair advantage with the most powerful and spinny paddle today but was the prior most powerful or spinny paddle unfair as well in its day?
How’s the control of the Hush?
Great video. The Spindna's paddle looks like HUDEF MAGE Pro.
Is the Diadem Hush legal to play with beyond rec play?
