@@christiand.3348 I thought Germany had a law where executive compensation was capped at a percentage of the lowest paid workers' wages. Did that go away quietly?
@@djmohab2 You are rigth, the max is 52x the average compensation of a "normal" worker. In the US a CEO can easily exceed 300x the average compensation. However, taking into account that the market capitalization of the top 30 companies in Germany together is ~3Trillion € (in US numbers, we use Billion as Trillion) and companies such as Nvidia, Apple, or MS are alone in this range, the CEO salaries in Germany are still quite substantial relatively. Of course turnover wise VW for example achieved >300B€ last fiscal year, whereas Microsoft achieved ~$220B. Hence, the compansation/turnover ratio in Germany is low compared to the US. The issue I wanted to point out is that real innovation is on the verge to die out in Germany. I personally think, it is a CEOs responsibility to create an atmosphere in the company, where innovation gets rewarded. But I see only million € rewards for keeping the status quo.

No one can get at the truth more intensely than Senator Josh Hawley. Other senators have their questions easily avoided but not Senator Hawley. He asks the right questions, brings up the important issues and of course always asks for their resignation. However before the interrogation starts Senator Hawley always very politely thanks the people for attending and will even congratulate them on their nomination before he rips them apart.
This is *RARE* to see any Republican call out a CEO of a major corporation. Kudos to Josh Hawley but this is almost unheard of. Btw, Boeing receives crazy amounts of tax dollars to function.
"Rare to see a Republican call out a CEO", the Republican Party is the party for the working man, economic freedom, and young families. The Democrats are the party for the coastal elites.
We need more laws that will stop shipping US jobs overseas to low paid, unqualified, workers. This is happening rampantly across not only the aviation field but also IT and many others.
Being "too big to fail" needs to stop being a thing. I hear Bayer is trying to use the "texas 2 step" to divide their company in order to limit the amount of asset forfeiting liabilities. Bayer has soaked the world in glyphosate and indirectly forced farmers in several countries to depend on genetically engineered seeds developed by Monsanto that are designed for specific resistance to roundup. They have systematically developed monopolies through corporate takeovers, buyout, and a fuckton of shady backroom deals with industry leaders and political allies through lobbyists. The extremes of a consumer society based on capitalism are starting to show through more and more these days. Wage stagnation worked to keep rich people rich for a long time. Even after wages have spiked in recent yesrs, the profit share is still shrinking for base workers. This, as corporate board members get even farther out of touch. Retirement benefits age limits have risen. The cost of living has increased more than wages. It's really hard to swallow everything being blamed on inflation when corporate profits are at all-time highs and company profit shares get even more disproportionately forced up the corporate ladder.
A barbecue by Hawley. Loved it. This is exactly how quick, concise , competent and caring a Senator should be when it comes to profit vs. safety for the American people. I won't always agree with him, but this was well done.
Runs the company into the ground and takes them to the cleaners for a huge pay rise. This is ridiculous. Clearly the board is culpable here. He should be fired and his entire compensation package should be distributed amongst the workers based on performance.

He doesn’t care. These are the kind of CEO’s that have sold their soul and don’t feel anything. They only care about share price, stock value and their personal compensation / bonuses. It’s a travesty and a disgrace what these greedy beancounters have reduced a great engineering company like Boeing to its current sorry state.
he is scary strong...i think he would be frightening scary behind closed doors....no one wants to be a whistle blower under his watch....given his record a honorable person would not only squirmed but probably resigned... and i still remember japanese CEOs committed suicide for far lesss...
He's not squirming. He doesn't care. It's the American way for profit above everything else, so in his delusion he's a rockstar and the senator is a paper pusher doing theatre.
This guy Hawley is no joke. He should be president I don't even know what party he is
Republican
he is just an opportunistic hypocrite who doesn't believe in anything except his own interest. will be nightmare for america if he becomes president
I identify as democrat but my god I’d vote for this guy as president
Me too! I’m registered Dem and vote independent when there’s not a clown as an option and I love Hawley. This guy gets shit right. Republicans need to replace him for Trump. This registered Dem would vote for him in a heartbeat!
You can tell he was a lawyer. Seriously though why dont we have more of these guys in government? I guess our country is just that rotten.
That man deserves a life in prison!
Josh Hawley is the BEST in congress. He is so well prepared at all times. Love how he gets to the TRUTH of alot of these IDIOTS! Missouri should be so proud and all of us are too! Great Job senator Hawley!👍
Pity he engaged in a little subversion of democracy
Definitely did his research and was brilliant throughout
How much is he being paid by foreign govts? ✡️
Well, what he says is most definitely true. But also, what the CEO is doing is exactly what is supposed to be done in capitalism, I mean maximise profit above else. I think it's cool he's now all anti-capitalist and stuff, but I'm just not buying it.

The Boeing CEO needs to be held accountable & responsible.
David Calhoun
How is all of this possible... he gets $40 million for this?? I mean....thank you Sen Hawley!
Imagine what Putin would do to this guy in Russia lol ?
He made $16M last year and got a 45% raise to $32M this year. He was hired for the explicit purpose of profit for stockholders. Props to Hawley for calling him out on it. This behavior's not new, yet Congress did nothing but watch as decade after decade these discrepancies in salaries continued, ultimately leading to labor union extinction, workers losing negotiating power, jobs and homes, ultimately destroying the "American Dream."
He gets 32.8 did you listen?
you really think he is the only one doing this?
@@GladysAlicea you are correct...., and not only that but this is one of those "too big to fail" so when they mess up they get the bail-out. It's quite cozy for the CEO and the investors here cause then don't lose but the public is out of the money...34 trillion by now.
Please run for president, Josh. I lean left and I would vote for you.

The separation between what CEOs get paid & what mid tier employees get paid in this country is disgusting.
Not just in your country. The same happens here in Germany. Stagnation of development all around, but the CEOs get raises every year....for what?? It is a true shitshow, what currently happens my formerly great country of engineers and innovation.
Its the, "Let them eat cake," party.
We are all working for the Stock Holders. As long as their returns keep coming in, they will keep approving the CEO Salary Package. Pure Profit motivation. Stock holders could not care less about the workers. This is the sad truth. And most large Stock ownership is by Blackrock and Vanguard.
@@christiand.3348 I thought Germany had a law where executive compensation was capped at a percentage of the lowest paid workers' wages. Did that go away quietly?
@@djmohab2
You are rigth, the max is 52x the average compensation of a "normal" worker.
Senator Hawley is great because he never asks a question whose answer he doesn't already know.
I wish we had someone like him here in AZ instead of these tools of the political left, Sinema and Kelly. Neither of them are good for anything.

Other than the admonishment on television, nothing will happen to this man. People commenting here as if the public ass chewing improves their life in some way is embarrassing. There’s no “Gotcha”. My father worked in Seattle on the 787 project in the early 2000's, and he would tell me how Boeing was outsourcing everything and purging their own engineers. Any talk about fixing this broken safety culture should have happened 20 years ago. Its too little too late in my opinion.
@jzakary1 My dad worked for McDonnell Douglas his whole adult life, before it was bought by Boeing. If he were still alive today, he would be appalled by all the shit going on!
@jzakary1 the CEOs especially the one in 2000, have run this former wonderful company right into the ground. My brother worked there for 25 years. Refused to train on 787 because of MCAS etc. They got rid of engineers in house. At least many of them have worked on the Embraers. Think this is a very nice plane btw
@@carolynellis387from the limited info I know, Boeing was once a great company. However when taking over MDC, the care for safety went out the window, money was the only thing important. I agree about Embraer being an amazing company and aircraft too.
My dad worked on the interior on the dreamliner. I remember hearing about it as a kid, sounded really cool.
Calhoun should serve a prison sentence for insider trading and be stripped of all his Boeing earnings. He is obviously guiding bad business decisions in order to maximize the profits for shareholders who are being illegally tipped-off about the best times to short their Boeing stock. Short-selling profits for private Boeing shareholders reach almost $384 million from the last year alone. This is not normal.
The entire Boeing hierarchy should be in jail, the amount money they have literally gained from their knowingly dangerous airworthy aircraft is sickening to the gut.🤮
Mr Hawley, I commend you. Im a 4th generation Machinist Tool Maker in my family and you are thinking about us! Thank you for calling out their 1% raise over 8 years I believe it was....
The Boeing mantra: it's not what can we do, it's what can we get away with?
Do you know the 737 has no main landing gear covers because of a design flaw when they make the first one? It was designed too low so if they were to but wheel covers it would touch the ground so they left the wheels uncovered.
I’m so glad Senator Hawley put this piece of garbage into place! I hope he goes for Presidency and saves us from corporate greed but for the trash CEO hope he rots in jail. “Why haven’t you resigned?” YES!!!

@@6SpeedTA95 Exactly what should we read about? You mean far left wing hit pieces with no facts? Because that is the only bad things I have found.
@jordan9604 All our factory work in Massachusetts disappeared decades ago, and guess where. The federal government destroyed our fishing industry. Decades ago, we had over 600 vessels, and now we don't even have 200. They're where thousands of jobs not long ago, and now Massachusetts is spending 47 million every month just to house illegal immigrants, never mind free food, clothing, and laundry services and they get a debt card with free money every month, they live better than most working class people. My property tax went up 7.6% last year, every year it's 2 or 3%, but that's more than double. Our governor Healy just signed into law allowing illegal immigrants driving licenses so they can vote this year and there not even American citizens 🙄

How can a company be so negligent and not be charged ?????
Senator Hawley is a beast!
