This game shines the most on its skills, abilites and techniques you'll learn by grinding. This game was such a treasure on the ps1. I remember saving my character on my memory card and taking it to a friend's house to co-op, and discovering you learn each-other's weapon skills! The character's storylines were so much fun, and the soundtrack was phenomenal. Can't wait to go through this again.
This game is one of the greatest games ever made. I had played this one way before and I still am in love with it. I still wish that Terranigma would be revived into the switch...
You get all my respect for remembering Terranigma my friend. One of my favourite JRPGs ever, even to this date. Next to Secret of Mana it was the first JRPG I ever played, so it always holds a special place in my heart.
@@vhalrougelarfouxe Oh god yes. The game has quite a few feels. Pretty much the whole Liem chapter, Fyda and Royd's goodbye, the avalanche scene... and of course the ending, I also still get a bit teary eyed every time I see that ending and credit roll. It's rare I get emotional over video games, even games that are meant to be emotional, but man... kind of blows my mind a little how much that game hits you, considering how 'basic', for a lack of a better term, it really is.
Storywise, I've always thought of this game as "side-quests: the game". But those "side quests" are actually the whole point. You progress by engaging with the characters and taking part in the smaller stories. This allows you to further build the world and see more of the story. You don't even always do anything to progress a story segment, sometimes just happening to see it and be there. BUT your role as the main character is to rebuild the world and revive the mana tree in doing so. Each character with whatever struggle they're having is a part of that. So in essence, the side quests ARE the main quest. Once you get that in your mind, the game is much more enjoyable from a story perspective. It just doesn't play out like any RPG story you're used to, because it's really not all about your character! It's about everyone. You just happen to be the one putting it all together.
Yes I played it back in the day, this game and several other RPG games in PS1 (suikoden, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire) make me love JRPG until now. Will play this game again for the nostalgia

This games art style is what made me want to play JRPG's back in the day. It was just so vastly different from the N64 which I thought was a boring system at the time.

I love everything about the mana series except for the battle system. When I heard it was getting remastered, I was crossing my fingers so they would remove the loooooong startup for battle techniques. The worst thing was waiting to fill up your gauge only to miss because the enemy moved about 30 seconds ago when you first started the tech. Other than that small thing, this game was amazing. Music, art and story.
The Mana game looks good, I have never played any of them. But Mario Golf comes out on Friday and I know I’m going to be putting slot of time into it. Pick up on sale when my backlog slows down. Hahahahah. Keep up the good work guys, I really enjoy your vids
I've noticed that you'll always talk about how the game plays in handheld mode, but could you also report on which games support surround sound and how well the games handle that, too? I rarely play in portable mode, but I do have a surround sound system it's always nice to get that extra audio feature when a developer has surround sound support.
The only difference i see is the font change for text. Is there a better description for items when you forge and temper stuff? No. If only they remade the game in octopath traveler style or something similar. I'll stick to psx emulator to play this.
best soundtrack and music of its time, so much nostalgia! The way the story progresses very much like a fairy tale book, where you had many different stories packed into one single book. Granted, the stories won't be as complicated as a standard RPG, but its more like you are the 3rd person point of view, whereby the NPC of the quest is the main character in their respective quests.
I remember playing this game when I was like 10yo. but my smol gamer brain can't figure out a lot of this since it was the times before online guides was a thing. The worst thing was waiting to fill up your gauge only to miss because the enemy moved about 30 seconds ago when you first started the tech. Other than that small thing, this game was amazing. Music, art and story.
Nice review! You should have used the skills to make combos, tho! Hahaha! Good work!
Anyone else having problems with the screen not letting you go to different areas on Nintendo switch?
I’d really really love a physical copy of this game. Nothing would make me happier than having this.
The Mana game looks good, I have never played any of them. But Mario Golf comes out on Friday and I know I’m going to be putting slot of time into it. Pick up on sale when my backlog slows down. Hahahahah. Keep up the good work guys, I really enjoy your vids
Never played this series, but will def be getting this!
Hmm this actually looks more unique and fun than what I'm used to
I've noticed that you'll always talk about how the game plays in handheld mode, but could you also report on which games support surround sound and how well the games handle that, too? I rarely play in portable mode, but I do have a surround sound system it's always nice to get that extra audio feature when a developer has surround sound support.
The art somehow reminds me of Maplestory. I truly loved that game. Might try this one out cause of the art.
When i want to play 2P , should I buy new full joycon(left+right) or it can be played by sharing / split my joycon?
I want Vagrant Story next so bad
I missed this one on Playstation. I’m not a huge JRPG fan anymore, but I think this might be one to pick up on sale.
The only difference i see is the font change for text. Is there a better description for items when you forge and temper stuff? No. If only they remade the game in octopath traveler style or something similar. I'll stick to psx emulator to play this.
Played the original as a kid - I've already pre-ordered the remaster, can't wait!
I got a physical copy of the game today. Superly happy!
I played this when I was so young I didnt understand the systems lol. I remember liking the golem making and monster taming.
It’s cool that this spin off from the mana series is getting a remake and world wide release. Now if they would only bring Dawn if Mana to the switch
best soundtrack and music of its time, so much nostalgia!
The way the story progresses very much like a fairy tale book, where you had many different stories packed into one single book. Granted, the stories won't be as complicated as a standard RPG, but its more like you are the 3rd person point of view, whereby the NPC of the quest is the main character in their respective quests.
Why am I up at 4am watching this video? Well let’s find out!
Absolute legend!
@@SwitchUpYt no you guys are the legends with all the content you release throughout a week! Thank you 🙏
This was on of my favorites back in the ps days. I will definitely be revisiting Fa'diel
I played it back in the day! Now I’m playing it today
Definitely Getting this one 😍😍 thanks for the review 👍
I remember playing this game when I was like 10yo. but my smol gamer brain can't figure out a lot of this since it was the times before online guides was a thing. I have dreamed of being able to play this game for sooooooo long. I'm 30yo now. and finally get a chance to play this game again. I remember the crafting and monster taming was very in depth (or too complicated at the time). I am very excited to get play this one. I have it downloaded and ready to play. I have the weekend free. and can't wait to dive into nostalgia :)
I'm 31, and played LoM around a similar time as you, this game had immense gamefaq and gamewinners guides. this was actually the hayday of online .txt strategy guides
I loved this game as a kid bit never finished it. Might be about time!
I was so excited to see this review! I already loved the game, so to watch my favorite youtube channel cover it has made my day! Keep grinding. I will be picking this up. (Also, Griftlands is amazing)
